There was an interesting thing on the radio in Australia today talking about how living with more trees around you shows a significant correlation to getting diseases or not.

The study of over 250, 000 people showed the more trees the better the health.
It also showed incresed health with income.

I wonder - do most crohnies live in the city?

It's well established that people with a high income or social class are healthier, because of all sorts of factors: diet, smoking, medical care, etc., etc.

I live in the country, plenty of trees here, I'm sick anyway.

It's more likely that people living in country are generally healthier, less stress less likely to be clean freaks there more exposed to the natural world seemingly children raised on farms are healthier unless of course they get foolish round some chemicals on farms.

Neighborhood in the country, subdivision surrounded by farms at the base of the foothills and about a mile from the river. My IBD son grew up playing in the dirt, climbing trees and wading, swimming and fishing in canals and rivers. His dad however who also has crohn's grew up in the city, Chicago, Phoenix and Seattle.

I grew up in a small town of 15000. We were always in the country working or hunting. I look at my family and think genetics has had more effect. My aunt smoked and lived in city lots of money eats fairly well and has lupus. My grandparents and dad lived country type life and my grandma had diabeties and a heart attack dead at 64. Grandpa and dad both renal failure and grandpa had 4 heart attacks and congestive heart failure. He worked till 75 ate right and exercised. Died last yr ar 91. Dad had a stroke last nov. At 54 and ate right and exercised his whole life. My brother and i ate ok and exercised alot. I have crohns and he has alot of ulcers. I enjoy the country life now and wont live in a city after living 1 yr in a city of 3 million.

I live in the city. Almost downtown.

But I dream of living in the country. I don't know if it would improve my physical health but it would surely improve my mental health!

Live in the city- but next to some very treed parks. And our small garden of fruit trees.
Grew up on sheep and cattle farms, then lived in a variety of locales from inside a national park to to inner cities. Worked outdoors/rural and indoors/downtown in a variety of countries.

Just bad genetics...grandmother had UC apparently.

An income would be appreciated right now.

Live in the suburbs. Grew up in the city. As far as genetics go, I am the only one in my family who has ever had Crohn's. So I am not sure its all genetics. I am definitely not upper income, but I have good insurance and therefore can afford good healthcare.

I would guess that better health with income correlates to access to medical care and stress. Stress wreaks havoc on the body.

City! Residential area with a good amount of trees though. My husband has Crohn's and nobody in his family has. His GI said it could be environmental change. He moved to USA from India in Jan 2014, his symptoms started around Oct 2014, diagnosed with Crohn's in Feb 2015!!
