experience with multiple medicines?

I was just recently let go from the hospital after a 6 day stay because I had reached a pretty bad situation. Really bad flare up, weakness, wasting away really.

Anyway, for the next little while, at least 10 days if not more, I'm going to be taking a mixture of 40gm prednisone tapering, 2x500 cipro, 3x500 flagyl, 20mg prilosec and 1000mg of pentasa.

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with taking all these medications at once and what kind of week i'm in store for. I've already experienced the flagyl and cipro together, and i have to say I don't think I'm a fan.

I haven't been on that exact combination of medications, but I've been on each in other combinations. The antibiotics are known for causing an upset stomach. The best I know to suggest is to take them with food if you're able to. Pentasa and Prilosec are usually easier on things, at least in comparison. Prednisone is, well, Prednisone. Do they have you taking all the Pred at the same time, or split up?

I was on Pred, Mesren ( Pentasa ), Cipro and Flagyl at one point, but only on the antibiotics for a week. I'm a Crohnie who doesn't normally suffer from D, but I had it most of that week and felt generally a bit yuk!
Oh and I had to buy one of those pillbox organiser thingies to remember when to take all 19 tablets!

Yeah. Tomorrow I start taking them all throughout the day. I know i'm probably not gonna feel great, I just don't know what these are all going to do together and don't want any really nasty side effects.

You can always ask your pharmacist if there will be any interactions but as long as the doctor who prescribed them is aware of all the medications and supplements you're taking then I wouldn't be too concerned. I've taken oodles of drugs in one swallow each day for years prescribed by my doctors now and in the past and have never had any issues with them interacting with one another.
