So I've noticed in the past few years my IBS/Crohns has gotten worse, and have adjusted my life in ways to try and keep things under control and better. However, everyone needs a hobby or something to kill the stress and make life fun and bearable and all that happy jazz.

The #1 issue I have I found that aggrivates my intestions other than food is quite simply, the heat. Living in Texas, I deal with heat more than I would love to. So If I know I'm going to be working outside, I make sure a bathroom is nearby.

Well, 4-5 years ago I bought a horse, took lessons, and all. In the past year I ride her maybe once a month now, because not only does the up and down motion on the saddle start to hurt but the heat of getting her ready, loping, etc etc, my insides can be in a knot before I even start riding. I'm darn near ready to sell her to try and give her a better life. Scratch Happy stress relief #1 off the list.

I also love to fish and with fishing comes drinking. Well, I had to seriously cut down on drinking, and now I learned with the heat outside I don't even want to drink anything 48 hours or so inadvance. I learned this the hard way the past few weeks. Last weekend I went down to the coast, and we did a deep sea fishing trip for some Snapper. I took abit more Immodium AD than they prescribe, simply because the normal prescription isnt enough on really hot days for me. However, after 3-4 hours of that the insides do knot up, and I get very gassy. And as you folks know, "dont trust a fart". Next day, I tried to wade fish in the bay, however even in nice soothing water, the heat got me into knots after a few hours.

Next day was another deep sea trip, but I didn't go as I was alrady having knots from probably stressing up the body two days before in a row.

So now here I am looking at happy stress relief #2 being seriously reconsidered. True, I can fish in the winter and be totally fine, but with kids in school getting out in teh summer is simply easier and winter is damn near impossible.

I work in a family business, going on 50 years now for the business so picking up and moving isn't an easy option to consider. Staying out of the heat is what I try to do, but I'm in the wrong state to try that. I get cabin fever easily enough so I'm lost on what to try and do next or how to deal with this heat issue with my body.

There. I ranted about it.

I think I feel better.

ah i dont really have any suggestions for you, but i know exactly what you mean about cabin fever. any hobby that you can do indoors just doesnt feel as good. the best stress relief for me that makes me happy is being outside. THATs when i really feel better.
maybe kayaking or canoeing or something? that still might be very warm though....you said that even fishing in the water was warm, ugh!
up here in ct we dont have to worry about the high heat too much.
i hope SOMEthing works out!

The topic for your thread title should typically go in this sub-forum, you just happen to mean something else Joe. :D

I'd think being indoors, but at new places would keep you cool, that way it's still refreshing and won't get stale, but you're more likely to be cool. My body does NOT do well in heat, anything higher than 70 when it's sunny and I'll sweat just walking outside. But put me in 45 degree weather with just t shirt and jeans and I'm the only one not shivering.
