Hello everyone...
i recently joined the site and I need LOTS of encouragement because ever since ive been diagnosed with crohns disease been on the disgusting Modulen diet (its my second month that i havent eaten anything but those gross shakes) and im having trouble feeling included at church because i've missed soooooo many activities because of my condition and everyone talks about how fun these activities were and stuff :( Just last week i had a Christmas banquet at my church. I bough a fancy dress and earings and EVERYTHING. And then my mom didnt let me go cuz she thought it woud be to hard for me to see everyone eat! I know that she did it to "protect me" or to make sure i didnt "suffer" or whatever, but I wish she could understnad that im STRONGER than that! ALL my friends went and i missed out on a really good time. I'm just really looking for some support...

Can someone please reply....I feel so left out and i need someone who can relate for support!! D: i feel so alone sometimes.....

Hey Cbonhomme, sorry that you are going through a crappy time. We miss out on a lot because of this nasty disease but don't despair, things will improve and get better. How long ago were you diagnosed? What meds are you taking?

I hope you get to feel better real soon.

Hey! So sorry that you got so excited to go and then couldn't. Sorry nobody has been able to reply. We all care about you, I think its just timing with Christmas so soon and everything.

There are lots of members on here who have been where you are, and even worse so just hang in there and things will get better. Its not fun, and its definately not something that just comes and goes, but eventually you will feel better and get the relief you need.

Hello Cbonhommie,
That sounds like a pretty frustrating situation, looking forward to something and then being unable to attend.
On a personal note, I have found it tricky learning how to manage Crohn's but am getting there with being able to go back to the things I like doing. I've found this forum a great source of support, just to know I'm not alone in dealing with this.
I hope things look up for you very soon - hang in there!

Hey there,

I'm sorry that you have to deal with this!!! I guess because of holidays everyone's been so busy that your original post was missed. :( But, along with everyone who has already replied, you will be able to find lots of support and help here.

I saw in your other post that you will be ending the modulen diet tomorrow!!! It's a terrible diet, isn't it? My son, 17, had to do it for six weeks in the spring. He didn't drink the shakes, as I mentioned in my other post, he did it through an NG tube. But the treatment has worked very well for him! He still does it (overnight) on a maintenance dosage but is able to eat almost all his regular foods during the day.

I hope it brings your crohns under control and you can just enjoy the holidays now and all the special events!

Let us know how your apptmt goes tomorrow!

Thanks everyone!
Costas: thanks :) I was diagnosed sometime in October :S As Tesscorm said, i finished my modulen diet today :D I'm currently taking Imuran but i went in for a blood test today and they siad I have to stop taking because they found something like low pancreas enzym or something :S Not quite sure what :S
KWalker: Thanks :) I know alot of people have been through worst but since i dont know them personally I sometimes feel really alone! Thats why I joined this website :) It brings comfort, THATS for sure :)
jack_t_barrowman: thanks :) i'm hanging on as much as I can :)
Tesscorm; thanks! :) Yes, The modulen IS A TERRIBLE DIET :p haha, I had to drink it for 2 monthes! I'm glad your son is doing well :)
Thanks guys for the support! Oh, and do any of you have any idea what this low pancreas enzyme is or something???

Hi there!
Thanks guys for the support! Oh, and do any of you have any idea what this low pancreas enzyme is or something???
You asked. I'm guessing that your liver and pancreas tests for the drug didnt come up well. Which means that your tolerance for that particular drug isnt good. So, there are other drugs they can put you on to help you to remain in remission. Like Remicade or Humira.

I'm sorry that you werent able to attend the banquet. I think you seem a very strong person. You probably can handle a banquet and stay on a diet, and I sincerely hope that by next year you are able to eat and enjoy yourself.
Wishing you health!

Thank you Misty :) Does that mean i have to start using steroids? Because I am very under-developed and short and skinny for my age and i dont want to take steroids so that I dont stay short for to long :( oh, and I started eating food today for the first time in 2 months and I'm having some stomach cramps right now :S is it normal? since i havent eaten food for so long im GUESSING that its normal but im not sure :s

Yes it is normal to cramp as you haven't eaten for so long. Don't dive straight into the food. Start off lightly with clear soups, herbal teas etc and allow your body time to adjust. Give it a day or two and then try something bland like boiled chicken and rice or boiled potatoes. Take it slow. I hope you start to feel better soon.
