I apologize if you have already discussed this. Feel free to redirect me.
I sought the advice of my GI doctor who said I should not get the live flumist H1N1 vaccine because I am currently on Humira weekly. I can get the H1N1 injection but cannot find a pharmacy that has it in stock.
I wasn't going worry about it but my family is really encouraging this and so is my PCP. She has even written me a prescription for the vaccine.
I work in the medical field which puts me at risk also.
I live in Maple Valley, WA (King County). Any suggestions for me? The King County Health Department Website is incorrect. I have tried all pharmacies. :(

I don't want to worry but I have been critically ill before. I hate hearing on the news that another person has died from the swine flu. I think they add that the person had "underlying health conditions" to try to appease the majority of the public. For me it makes the news worse.

Anyone want to convince me not to worry?

I live in Yakima and I was able to get mine at my doctors office. They said that they are starting to get more in daily. I would keep checking with you doctor. It is crazy that you are not able to get the H1N1 when you are taking meds and work in the healthcare industry?? I am sorry! I hope you are able to find it somewhere. Best of luck!

I would urge your doctor to help the leg work, Amy, as I'd imagine she'd have a great reach to find the nearest and soonest one, at least that sounds logical. If not that, your GI should be pushing things through for it to happen since you are in a higher risk category.

there is a huge lack of them where i am, theyre only letting children, pregnant ladys, and really old people have them. their even calling it a pandemic on the news where i am. and now i got a jo working with kids and im on remi, so if you find any way to get one i would go for it! good luck to you!!

I hope you've been able to find somewhere to get the vaccine - given you are in the priority group due to a number of factors for sure. Seems crazy that you aren't being given easy access to something that you really need.

Apologies for now putting a slightly unrelated question in this thread, I didn't want to start a new topic.

I went for my swine flu vaccine today - all was fine, my arm is a little sore and stiff now, nothing major - so no one need worry on that account. But they told me since my immune system was compromised I have to get a second dose? Anyone have any more information on this?

This years Flu, both strains, have been less virulent than last years Flu.

If you were not worried last year, you have less reason to worry this year.

Dan
