I've been having these horrific nightmare where I usually wake up so fasts I have aspirated spit...tonight it was vomit. I am so scared I won't even close my eyes again. I didn't drink or take anything. I don't abuse any substance...I don't know why I threw up but not I'm afraid it'll happen again.

Have you spoken to your doctor about this new development?

Do you have anyone who can be with you while you sleep?

Do you make sure to sleep on your side so that you won't aspirate any vomit?

Has anything changed such as medications, personal, stresses etc. that might give a reason for the nightmares?

I too recommend contacting your doctor.

I go see my Dr at 10am. My husband slept next to me it be does t hear it at all. Sleeping on my side is the best? I wan afraid it would make things worsw

I haven't had any change in medication or anything. Ironically I had mad a ton of appointments today..but my gP is first and the rest might have to wait

vocalartillery I've had some occasions where I've woken up to have some vomit in my mouth. For me it was acid reflux but other things could cause it. When was your last upper endoscopy? That test may be able to help figure out what's going on. For me I took Omeprazole and it worked fine. In the meantime you may want to prop yourself up if possible with a couple pillows to try and keep anything from coming up in the first place. I've moved your thread back to General and will alter your thread title for more replies. :)

As for the nightmares it may be possible that you're having them because you're aspirating. My husband has a medical condition that causes him to have chronic pain and since it started his nightmares have increased where he dreams about being on fire or something else more gruesome is happening in the dream. Your mind may be trying to wake you up with the nightmares.

I take omeprazole as well. This was totally vomit. I jumped out of bed and barfed more. I have cyclic vomiting syndrome where I throw up for no reason but it has never happened at night. I went in to see my GP and she just shrugged. I decided it was time for a new GP.
