I am a 31 year old male. Thursday night I had diaria and I noticed it was really black. Then early Friday morning I woke up and and had to use the restroom.
the only thing to pass was a small amount of mucous that had blood in it. That happened the whole day (at least 5 times), did not have any real BM, just kept passing mucusy blood. I did go to the doctor on Friday and he is concerned with IBD and has ordered a colonoscopy.
Since going to the doctor, I did not have any BM's on Saturday and have had a slight pain in the left side of my abdomen. Now today (Sunday), I have had three very small BM's and they were all black. I still have the slight pain on the left side. I am just really nervous and wandered what you all think this sounds like.

Hi...

Sorry to hear you are having these problems. Most of us here know exactly what you are going through. Let us know how things turn out.

Thank you both for your reply.

Pen:
Is there anything else, in your opinion, that it could be? Do you think I can get out of this without being diagnosed with IBD?

hi Tomes.. sorry to hear about this :(

it's really hard for any of us to take a guess at what may be the cause, but you've done the right thing & seen your doctor quickly. it may just be a one-off, or could turn out to be something you need meds for....... hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the colonoscopy & then you'll have some answers. meanwhile, try to have a gentle diet, plenty fluids & take it easy if you can. & if your pain gets acute or you start to run a high temperature, go see the doc again.

good luck! keep us posted how you're doing.

Hey Tomes. Welcome.
Don't be nervous, once you find out what it is or isn't, then you can start with treatment. Sounds like you may have caught it early, which is always a good thing. Do you have a date for your colonoscopy yet?
Good luck - let us know how it turns out.

hi tomes
like the others said, its hard to try and say what it is because everyone is so different!
but, small stools can indicate narrowing. and yes i have a lot of mucous in my bms at times too.
im glad you are getting a scope done soon, its important for the doctor to get in there and look. hopefully it is not too far into the future?
let us know what the result is!

Also tomes, when you are having all these symptoms and you have no idea what is wrong, your imagination really goes to work and you might start to think of so many horrible possibilities. For me at least, it was better to get a diagnosis of crohns and have a name for what was ailing me, rather than suffer and not know why.

Thanks everybody. Well I have an appointment with the doctor on Thrursday (Colon Rectal Surgeon). I guess I will set up the appointment for the procedure at that appointment. I hate that I have to wait so long.

I am feeling a little better, not as much pain in my abdomen and less and less black stool. I thought my last BM today was black stool free but I did see a tiny bit of black that almost looked like coffee grounds. But sounds like the bleeding wherever it is comming from is slowing down. Oh and my bloodwork came back fine. I think he tested blood count/ pancreus function and liver function.
