How many times do you have to empty during the night?

Hi

I was just wondering how many times, if any, do you have to go to the toilet during the night? I very rarely sleep the whole night through and find myself having to go 1 or 2 times a night.

How about you? Thanks :)

These days I rarely have to empty at night - only if I eat late at night (I usually don't eat anything after 7.30pm).
I sometimes do wake up and have to sit up to burp the bag overnight - depends on what I have had to eat and drink. But it does not involve a trip to the bathroom.

0! Although I'm lazy and my bag is usually pretty full by the morning. I often de-air it in the night though if it's not a new bag.

At my age I have to get up to pee anyway! But I will usually empty at that time, almost always between 2:30 and3:00 am.

If you can eat as early as possible to avoid having a full bag in the middle of the night. It makes for some "sloppy" emptying here at my house!

at least once. i don't sleep well at night, no more than four hours at a time, so it gives me something to do;)

I drink a lot of water and generally have to get up to go pee at some point. If I'm still really sleepy, I don't bother emptying my bag. But if I'm semi-alert, I'll empty. I tend to eat by 7 so I rarely have to empty my bag at night.

Because of the amount of water required during the day, I usually have to get up to pee once each night. Sometimes I need to empty the bag as well, but not always.

I usually have to empty ma bag 2-3 times a night. I have short gut so nothing I eat or drink stays in for long. I suppose if I was able to stop eating earlier I maybe could lose one visit to the toilet. But then because of the short gut I need to get my calories and kind of have to eat (and drink) so i dont start to lose weight.

Normally I make it until the morning before i have to empty, but I find making sure I lie down about an hour before I go to bed, this tends to help a lot of air come out before I need to go to bed so helps out there it seems. :ysmile:

Some nights I never have to worry, right now those nights are rare and far between. Recently I've been having adhesive and skin issues and wake up 2-4 times a night to ensure I don't wake up to a leak and a half awake bag change.
Though the days that I do have my little accidents I am usually able to turn into a positive. I mean after waking up covered in poop, the day can only get better!
Hopefully with fall and the cooler temperatures my skin will clear up and I'll be able to sleep the whole night through again!

Before i started Imuran and Entocort i was going 5-6 times a night. embarrassing to say, but after getting up that often and as well as 4 little kids waking me, i would sometimes go into such a deep sleep to wake up to poopy sheets. It was awful. i would be sooooo upset. Now with the imuran and entocort for the past 3 months, i have not woke once!!!! :))))))))))))))

Sometimes I get up and empty once or twice a night. When I'm not feeling to clever and don't manage to wake up I wake up with a balloon on my stomach, How I don't roll over onto it and make it explode I'll never know but I seem to get away with it.

2-3 times. I sleep on the sofa till 3-4am because I know I get up more often and therefore don't sleep that well and means I'm more aware of the bag filling. If I go to the bed then I sleep deeper and get more leaks due to blow outs. Tried eating earlier but then I get hungry again later on.

Feel sorry for my wife not that she cares if I have a blow out but I just don't want to have leaks. Hoping for a reversal in next 2-3 months to resolve the issue. If not I'm just going to have to suck it up and deal with it.

Anyone else felt this way?

You shouldn't be getting leaks and blowouts every night, no matter how deep you sleep! Are they just purely caused by the bag getting THAT full? Have you tried a larger bag?

its not every night, it just happens more often if i go to bed because i sleep deeper. i have tried a larger bag but the bag i have really works for me because i dont tuck it in, so it doesnt hand to low. i have tried numerous bags including two peice and the wellands seems to be the best for me.

this morning when i did go to bed i emptied it at 3 and woke at 5 with a baloon, luckily i did empty in time.

Yeah, I used to avoid sleeping on my stomach, but I can and often do. Thankfully I haven't had a leak during the night for a long time, but I do have mattress protectors on, just incase :)

I never get up to empty my bag....like Misty, I get up to pee in the night being of an age....lol I get the occasional gas filled bag, but that's not too much of a problem for me.

Since like the others I usually get up to pee at least once a night, I empty too. Every once in a while if I eat too late, I may have to empty 1-3 times in the middle of the night.

I dont empty at all during the night. I empty twice a day. Once in the morning, before work and then again before bedtime. Then Im good for the entire day/night.

3 weeks post op and I'm down to one a night, sometimes none. It depends on how much I've eaten during the evening and how much of it, big nights eats and drinks = big nights output.
