I no its personal but how much do you all weigh. I am 40 just diagnosed with Crohns my height is 5'4 and am down to 110 pounds. This really scares me.

I got my weight back up from when I was going through many hospital stays back to back for a while. It has been over a year since and I am 5'6" and I just got off the scale before at 123.5......I usually eat a lot right before the remicade because I get weighed right before they give it to me and once the nurse said at 123 not good not good you want that to be a couple lbs more. I thought it was good! So I eat a lot right before for a few days but I got it to 125!!. I am usually between 123 and 125 on the good days. But when I was really really sick one time it went down to 112 and that was no good.
Try to drink the ensure or boost with the meals if you are concerned about the weight. It does help with maintaining weight and gaining.

there is a poll on everyones weight on here somewhere. it showed we are either stick thin, or fat from pred.

I weigh 146 right now and I am 5' 7 1/2 "
I feel good, and I am trying to not weigh ANY more than that. I'd like to be 135-140 - but I will take feeling good over looking great.

I weighed 96 in 2007 at my worst, and that and my tears was the only thing that would get my GI to take me seriously.

Are you losing weight right now? Maybe you can try some supplemental drinks just to keep your calories up.
I hope you feel better.

Just fyi - the BMI calculator says that your weight is within a normal range for your height. I know it's how your body carries it, but it's possibly nothing to scare you right now.

edit - woo-whooooo! So is mine!

Better stick to pounds, I suppose.
I currently weigh 200 lbs and I'm 6'2"
Feeling pretty ok at the moment and not on pred. I actually lost 20 lbs recently (deliberately) as I was turning into a fat git.
When I was very ill with crohns, many years ago, I got down to 120 lbs

Hey, Mary. Don't worry about asking personal questions on here - we ALL do, and it's definitely the place to do so :) We talk about EVERYTHING!!!! Feel free to ask absolutely anything that's on your mind, girl!

I'd been sick off and on since I was a kid, but everything came to a head in 2008. At the time, I had weighed 155, not good for my 5ft body. After being so sick and encountering everything (especially good ole BIG D) that comes with it, I now weigh 122.

So, to answer your question, 122. But it took being really, really sick to get there. Not the way I wanted to lose the weight.

I agree w/MBH - try drinks like Ensure to keep your weight/energy up. She recommended them to me, and it definitely kept my energy up when I had become severely anemic!

You guys are all so great I have had a really hard time dealing with this Crohn's thing.

Ask away Mary, anything.

When I'm flaring I actually gain weight because my body thinks it's starving and stores everything as fat. Kinda opposite of most people with Crohns.
When I get over this flare I'll drop 20 - 30 pounds in just a few weeks without changing the way I eat or my exercise.
Yeah, I'm weird. :)

I weigh just enough to keep me from flying off the planet!

Actually, I don't have a scale, but I'm probably in the high 150s or maybe even 160 or so now, which is actually not an ideal weight for me, since a bunch of it is fat. I was much more comfortable at around 140 with more muscle. My muscles work more like Bruce Lee and not at all like Arnold Schwarzenegger. When I work out I get wiry, not massively bulked, which I prefer anyway.

Oh, and I'm around 5'7".

I won't say that the whole disease part gets easier, but from personal experience, I will say that talking about it and getting more comfortable asking questions DOES make it easier. This is the best place I have ever been. Everyone here is great, and so many go out of their way for each other. So, don't be shy! Ask questions! And feel free to PM :)

I am currently 5'8'' and I run with this current flare up I am running at 150. Before this flare I was usually around 165. So down about 15lbs from my normal weight. Worst blow up from Prednisone was up to 193.

Really trying to watch it this go around with Prednisone.

I'm worried about getting fat now that I'm on remicade. In the two weeks between my first and second infusions I put on 8 pounds(over half a stone!). When I was first diagnosed I was just above 140 pounds and being 6"5 that made my BMI around 15. something. Now three months later I'm up to around 175 pounds . Goes to show how well remicade can work

Before I was diagnosed I was a hefty 347. When I was diagnosed I dropped to 252. I lost 95 pounds in about 2 months (Sept- Oct) I'm on the pred now and back up to 280. I'm 6' 4". I feel like I'm getting much bigger, even though I don't eat a lot. My face is getting fatter too. I hate and love pred.

My excuse for carrying around some extra weight after Prednisone (Ha, 1 year later) is that I might need the fat stores if I have a flare!

I am 6'2" and down to 230 now, was 258 in April. Dr. said that most of the weight was due to the latest flare up, not my working out - DAMN HIM :). I have been pretty steady in the 250-270 range for most of the last 15 years

Hi Mary, I am 5 ft 5 and currently 114 ponds but got down to about 105 when really sick. I am far too skinny and buy children's jeans! It sucks!

I'm 6'1" and weigh about 140.

I had been consistently 155 for 10 years, until I was diagnosed with Crohn's and dropped down to 130 over a period of 6-9 months. I've been at 140 now for about a year and feeling pretty good.

I'm 5' 10 1/2 and before this last flare started in Sept i weighed 225. Now I'm at 173 and dropping. I weighed 155 when I got out of school in 76' and the lowest I've weighed since DX is 118. That was not good.

Not tellin'!!! Let just say I have had Crohns so long I know how to cheat. However the last few months I lost 21 lbs, and that trying really hard .:ylol2:

Yeah, I'm weird. :)

Glad to know I'm not the only one who gains a bunch during a flare. Weird guys of Crohn's UNITE!!:

Im 5'10" 170lbs.
Was a solid 180 before I got really sick, when I checked into the hospital I was 130lbs!! Still havent put the rest of the muscle back on though.

I weigh about 195 right now. Probably more by the time the holidays are over! My weight yo-yos all the time. I was probably about 175 this time last year, and I think I was about 215 this summer. I keep two sizes of pants: "sick and tired" and "fat and happy"!

Im 5'6" and currently weigh 110lbs but before I was diagnosed and at my worst my weight dropped to 92lbs. I looked horrible and just skin and bones! But got on the supplement shakes after I started to feel better and got the weight back on quickly.

I'm 5'8" and weight 133lbs - 10lbs up on this time last year :D I've managed to get enough calories into myself even when flaring to avoid any sudden big drops (2-3 lbs each time, rather than 7-10), and I feel much better for it. Still very slim, but no longer bony. Another 7lbs would be good though...

Before getting small bowel cancer in Fall 2008, I was 133 and 6ft. I was always a thin fella. I started to loose weight with the cancer, and bottomed out at 110 when I was released from hospital Oct 2008. The surgeon removed 4ft of bad bowel from the tumor and Crohn's, and for 2 months I ate more than I ever could and gained 28lbs. Then I lost it all during chemo, got back to 130 mid-November and dropped to 122 recently. I suspect that was from a flareup I am having and bacteria overgrowth in my bowel. I'm hoping now I'm on the upswing again.

Love the picture Brad. I can't imagine having to deal with Crohn's AND cancer. Rock that snowmobile man......

I'm 5'9" and before I got sick I was a hefty 230 then on pred I jumped to 240 after having lost 75 pounds so I went from 230 to 155 and then back up to 240 (thanks pred ha). Now I'm back down to 148.

I'm a healthy 165pounds at the mo, and am about 5ft5". Was 160 before I started Humira. Me thinks I need to just be a bit careful with all the Bourbon Creams I eat! :) Highest weight has been 180, lowest 140 which I managed to drop 25pounds in about 2 weeks and the rest over another month.

I weighed myself about two weekends ago and was 150lbs (5"4-ish) from pred (okay, and chocolate, Dr Pepper, chips, and whatever else was lying around), but just from cutting out soft drinks and drinking water non-stop, I can tell a HUGE difference in my face already. I feel so much better, too. Can't be looking like Danny DeVito or anything...

Goodbye, StayPuft!

I'm 5'4" and about 150 (Gawd, I can't believe I'm publishing my weight!). Hoping to stay at this or loss after I get off this pred taper, my weight gain usually happens at the end of a taper for some reason. I "should" weigh about 127 - but you just never know when I'm gonna need that extra weight (at least that is what I keep telling myself ;) )

before getting diag. I was about 145lbs and 5'5. I went down to 130 and now I am 135. I stayed at 140 for awhile but slowly lost a few lbs.

before diagnosis I was 145 and 5'5". Then I dropped rapidly to 127 (eww) Then gained to 150, then down to 135, now I'm up to 155. I'd like to be about 140-145 though.
