Reaallllly fed up now. Waiting for a CT scan/ ultrasound appointment from the hospital before I can get started on Infliximab. The stabbing pains in my stomach are sore but the pain in my hands/ arms is almost now unbearable tonight!! frown: I've been on 40mg of Pred and 150mg of Aza for over 3 months now and I've read that the joint pain just gets worse when you are tapering down. Hate the thought of taking these drugs that are making me a nutcase with a giant moon face if they are not doing anything to help me. In two minds just to go to A&E and try to speed up these scans to see what's going on inside me. So shattered tonight but the pain is not allowing me to sleep.:thumbdown: I am one grumpy girl tonight thamks for letting me rant!

oh geeze...hope they get things straightened out SOON!!!!!...have you started tapering off the pred yet?

It might be a good idea to go to A&E.
Nobody should have to tolerate such bad pain.
Hope you can get a better night.
Hugs and best wishes
Trysha

There's only so much a person can take.. Maybe going tonight would be a good idea:) I hope it gets better for you.

Hi Kayleigh,

Sorry to hear you're feeling so awful, did you go to A&E in the end? Hope you're feeling better today! x

What pain relief are you using. Perhaps speak with your doc to get better pain killers and maybe speed up the scan date. Do you have a date?
Why do they want to have scan first.. Is it to make sure you have no abscesses / infection?

Hi Kayleighk
Look ive been on Asacol for 6 months or so and I strted getting really bad joint pain. I went to Doc and she actually looked it up on tyhe net and apparently it is a side effect of the ASA. I went to my Chemeist or drug store and they showed me the little leaflet that comes with the ASA when you get it and it confirmed waht they said. I went back to my Doc and she said I had to way up the advantages and disadvantages of this drug. For me it has greatly reduced D but not the pain in my abdomin. so ive decided to keep it goin until they find somethin better.
Really important to stay clam and try to do some stuff to take your mind off it . Not easy but it really is worth it. I started cycling short relaxing rides when I can.
Hope this helps about the joint pain.

Hey everyone thanks very much for your replies. I chose not to go last night as the thought of sitting with Friday night drunkards in the waiting room put me off. Joints still really sore today but as I had a good night sleep eventually I'm able to keep going as opposed to last night when I thought I would die with the pain :p Think I was just too tired. It's only 11:24am and already been to the loo 6 times for D!! :( I haven't got any dates for scans yet hopefully they come in the post today. I've to get the scans because I was told by my GP I had a kidney infection but when I went for my consultation about inflximab a doctor checked me out in the hospital and said he wasn't sure it was a kidney infection as the antibiotics were not helping. He said they were going to check for a pocket of inflammation. He also said I could be in pain due to the steroids. Interesting PVail about the Aza, I know I need to do a little more exercise to help the job just hard to get motivated when you have no energy blahhh. xxx
