I've been bleeding for about a week now. How common is bleeding for someone with Cohn's? I'm still in the process of being Dx properly. I took some video of the carnage with my cell and now have a barrage of tests lined up. You think it's more common with UC or is it just as common for Crohn's? Or could it be Crohn's Colitis?

Some bleed, others don't. Regardless, it's not a good sign. Hopefully, it is being caused by a hemroid or small tear, but I'd suggest contacting your GI and getting it checked out.

Keep us posted.

I bleed like CRAZY when I'm flaring. This would be a great poll to start.

I have never "knock on wood" bled but my sister does but not pain...so even in the family we are different!

When I was first experiencing symptoms, I bleed often. It would last for a couple of days and be bright red and completely change the color of the toilet water. After a couple of days, it would taper off. This cycled every 2-3 months for years, even when I was on immuran and pentasa. It finally stopped as soon as I started Humira and I haven't seen blood in the two years since.

I don't have the pain(even at my worse) but I bleed often, everyday, every stool...It got so bad I had a transfusion. got 2 pints of blood

I think it depends on the type of crohns you have(open wounds, scar tissue ect) and where it's located. Also it may be linked to if you have diarreah or constipation

When I first got Crohn's, I bled for an entire year. My blood count and platletts got very low and almost had to have a transfusion. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with six months of untreated Crohn's Disease by a new doctor, because for six months (I had a GI doctor since symptoms began), that things finally changed. When the knew doctor did a colonoscopy, he diagnosed me with Crohn's and immediately put me on Remicade and within 2 months the bleeding stopped completely and never returned. It doesn't hurt to have a second opinion. Just saying!

@snowchic.....yeah...I think ur right. I think I need a new doctor. This one can't seem to get it right and meanwhile,I'm suffering. The bleeding has stopped...for now....but, it'll come back. It always does. And now he's decided that, maybe I don't have Crohn's. He thinks it's Gastritis now. Isn't gastritis an inflammation of the stomach? And if my stomach was bleeding.....wouldn't the blood be black? Mine is bright red. Cleveland Clinic is supposed to have some of the best Gastro Docs out there.(I can't tell)..lol.

When I was first diag in 2009 there was alot of bleeding. Over the last few years it's been gone but lately i've started again, not sure why. Changed my diet and made sure to take all my meds but it's still persisting. I know it's because of the type of crohns I have with colitis but it's always best to get it checked on...

I bled for about 5yrs non stop. Now on remicade and the crohns is under control its finally stopped
