Hi Guys,
Sorry i know i've moaned about this loads but it's getting worse :(
My Joints are so painful (fingers, wrists, arms, knees and ankles) It's now affecting me really badly, My GI won't return my calls.
I think it's the Aza doing it, My crohns is so much better but the Joint pain is really bad , also ended up running a fever the other day and nearly fainted in work due to not feelin great + joint pains.
I really want to keep taking the Aza as this is the best my crohns has been since it started. I just can't keep going with this pain. Im now struggling to walk. My boyfriend drives a small white van , which he now has to lift me out off because i can't do it by myself.
The poor dentist i work with has to get anything thats in a bottom drawer out because i cannot bend over or kneel down.
I thought maybe gentle excercise would help so i went for a walk tonight and Matty (fiance) had to come and pick me up as after walking for 10 mins the pain was awful and i was limping.
Im having to take tramadol every day for the pain.
Does anyone else get these joint pains this bad or is this not normal ?
Sorry if this thread seems a bit jumbled im just stressed out :(

I can understand how you feel I have arthritis and sometimes when it flares up I cant put any weight on my legs and my boyfriend has to lift me in and out of bed. When it does get bad I don't walk but I try to gently move my legs just bending them slightly and trying to increase how much I bend them each time, but doing this gently not forcing it so it hurts. I don't know if this would help though if it is a reaction to aza.

The joint pain is not normal keep trying to get hold of your doctor and see what they recommend doing if, it is the aza maybe a change in medication.

Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Joleen - Haven't had much struggle with joint pain lately, but I agree with Kayleigh - talk to your doc. Maybe you can take something other than the tramadol that will help.

Are you taking any anti-inflammatory supplements??? Not sure how much those will help but they can't hurt, right?

Feel better soon! -Amy

Do you have a Rheumatologist? My flares often bypass the gut and go straight to the joints. The meds that work on my colon don't always work on my joints.

Tramadol is a heavy-duty drug; it's best not to be on it long-term. As for supplements, tumeric/chicken collagen/ msm work great for me-as does glucosamine chondroitin. I get mine from Vitacost.com. (not pitching it, just sayin')

Hi Guys ,
Im not taking any supplements so i will deffo look into it asap.
Been trying to phone my doctor all day , left tons of msg's and still waiting for a call back, think will try again tomorrow.
Don't have a Rheumatologist but these joint pains are a new thing for me , so will ask my GP about it (when i get hold of him lol)
It's not as bad today (yesterday was awful) but i have been vomiting today (couldn't keep any food down at all. Don't have and D or abdo pain so im just a bit confused.
Thanks for your help :)

:hang: Sorry you're so sick! I thought you might waht to know that with me, when the joint thing starts to clear, then the gut issues start. You'll want to let your GI know what's going on,too.

Also, the tramadol could be the culprit causing the vomitting-I always hurl on pain meds. Try taking some OTC anti motion sickness medication (I'm in the U.S.-here we have Drammamine) and see if it helps calm your tummy down. Be sure to crush the pill into powder, add to maybe a tablespoon of liquid, and SLOWLY sip it. That's my way of tricking the tummy into accepting it.

Peppermint altoids also help with this, too. Hope you feel better-keep us posted.

So thought id just quickly post to say im now off the Aza , though the crohns was doing great , docs decided to take me off it , so im now on 6mp. Joint pains a little better , hope it improves or GI is talking about putting me back on the Pred - Noooooooo lol

I have terrible hip pain, but since I started Humira it's a lot better and pain does not last for days. But, I now have other issues with Humira - rash and dizzy. Called my GI for advise, no call back for 3 days!

Just a thought, could your Humira be interacting with your other meds? Vicodin and Lexapro make me extremely dizzy, and in my experience taking Remicade I seem to be more sensitive to other meds since I started it.

I just wanted to thank you all. I'm battling with joint pains on a frequent basis. I think I'll follow some of this advice. The worst for me are: hips, wrists, elbows (ouch), and fingers.

I'm sorry to hear your having such bad troubles! I have really bad joint pain before and after my remicade infusions but I was told it was normal for some people and just make sure I'm talking all my supplements daily to prevent further problems. I hope something works for you soon!

I have had joint pains on and off for quite a while now. I have tried pretty much all the meds possible for the Crohns and it seems like some make the joints worse and others had no affect. Humira made me hurt ALL the time and I had to stop taking it since it was so bad. So maybe you could look into something different because that could be the cause.

Most stuff I've tried doesn't help the pain, but theres one thing I found that helps sometimes. Its called Absorbine Liniment Gel, you can buy it at Tractor Supply if you have one around or any other farm supply stores. It's basically icy hot for horses and its awesome. A lot of people with arthritis buy it and swear by it. Hope this helps! I know it can be a real downer.
