long term vomiting??

Hey, i was just wondering if anyone else suffers from vomiting everyday?... my doctors said its not crohn's related and they don't know what it is.. it's been happening for over a year and a half now and i just want some answers..

Is it a side effect of one of your meds? Pentasa makes me throw up fairly often-at least a couple of mornings a week.

Are you experiencing it in the morning, or around the same time everyday? Is it before a bowel movement? May be related to something you are eating, or "backup" prior to bowel movement.

Before my inital Dx i thew up everynight- it was the worst ever- at that point it was just yellow bile. Isnt vomiting a symptom of Crohns- like IBS people dont have that but "we" do?

Feel better soon- hey as a matter of fact my dr put me on Reglan for that! Ask about that.

Let me know what the Dr says.

Hiya: I threw up daily for 3+ months before diagnosis and being started on medication, and then regularly (a few times per week or more) for another few months after that (the medication wasn't strong enough yet).

Vomiting ranged from 6 times to 30 times per day during that 3 months.

Still vomit very easily and have regular nausea, but not daily vomiting now that the Crohn's is getting a bit more under control.

Hope things work out for you! In the meantime, be gentle with yourself and maybe try something like ginger (a life saver for me).

Hi Maka,

I too have vomiting and nausea, not every day but probably 3 or four times a week. Real power chucks too (you know when your whole body is wretching). I've only been doing this since I've had Crohns so can only assume its a side effect of the condition.

I take Metaclopromide for the nausea/vomiting.

I'm only on one medication currently, Motilium, which i was given to try and help with the vomiting, it has cut it down, it's not nearly as bad as before, but its still a daily thing..
I always thought vomiting was a part of crohn's as well, but now the doctors are saying it's not, it's all so confusing.
I've tried Metaclopromide, but it didn't seem to do much for me.. I will ask my doctor about Reglan though..
Thankyou all for your help :)

Hi Maka,

Just wanted to let you know that Reglan is the brand name for Metaclopramide.

It is confusing when docs tell you vomiting isn't part of Crohns - I've been told the same thing by some gastro specialists - but I've only had the vomiting since I've had the Crohns and the various Crohns meds (Humira, infliximab, Pentasa, azathiopriñe etc...) I've taken don't seem to increase or decrease vomiting problem so I can only assume its part and parcel of the disease process.

What about about Ondansatron? Have you tried that? That's a stronger antiemetic than Metaclopromide so may help you where Metaclopramide hasn't.

Hope relief is very soon, every day vomiting is a bit much to handle!
Lily
