Hey all

I am very worried and was looking to see if other people are in the same position. My partner and I had a accident on Friday night, we have been together 8 years and we normally use the pull out method but friday night some got in there if you know what I mean! I think I was on day 10 of my cycle as my first day was 30/04.
A baby would be really bad for me right now as I am on remicade and do not wish to come off of it. I took plan b on saturday morning. My doctors are confident that it will do fine since my crohn's is under control They said it was be extreme to put in the coil. Today I have had lower back pain, the same as period pain so I think I absorbed the pill but I have read so much on the internet about it not being suitable for crohn's patients. Any help or similar stories would be greatly appreciated .

Hi, newgirl!

I've actually never read or heard anything about Plan B being unsuitable for Crohn's patients. The only reason I can think of for this is that sometimes our bodies don't absorb things as well as others - but if your Crohn's is under control at the moment that shouldn't be a problem. By under control, do you mean you're in remission, or you've just become somewhat stable? Either way, it should be fine.

On a side note the pulling out method isnt great because you cannot guarantee a few fishies havent had a little swim before he pulls out if you catch my drift. What may work for a while may one day not work. have you considered any other contaception?
I should think the morning after pill worked for you this time if taken soon enough .. not thrown up etc

Are you aware that sometimes your cycle isn't always normal due to stress, sickness, surgery, or even medication?

You can even ovulate the day after your Aunt Flo is done and become pregnant and also during your period if there is cervical mucous present. Heck, you can even become pregnant while taking contraception. The spotting that happens to women who are on them is break through bleeding aka ovulation.

I use to work in the Ob/Gyn dept. at a hospital for 4 yrs and this is how I know by working with doctors and residents.

Your best bet would be to talk to your Gyn about your fertility & find something that doesn't interfere with your Crohn's medications/treatment.

good luck.

you use that method all the time??? I think that's crazy. there's enough sperm in pre-come to make you pregnant. if you are having periods then you are ovulating regularly
IMO you should be on a reliable form of contraception if indeed you do not intend to become pregnant.
