I know I've posted elsewhere about some things going on since last spring. Well, with some additional imaging done my life has gotten more 'interesting;'.....

Short recap - last spring started feeling 'not right'....started having some pretty bad reflux, loss of appetite, lost about 10 lbs...quit drinking coffee (held no appeal suddenly).....had annual scope scheduled so they added an upper scope which showed a hiatal hernia.....GI doc didn't say anything about it really, just start taking over the counter acid reducer....

Still not feeling right when I had a 6-month follow up - vague pain left side, sometimes sharp and up into my ribs, still lack of appetite.....

Had MRE done 12/22/21 which showed some interesting things...taken right from the report....

BOWEL: Distention of small bowel loops was adequate. There is no bowel wall thickening, edema, or segmental mural enhancement. There is no evidence of stricture, ulcerations, or sacculations. There is a segment of ileum within the right lower quadrant with relative hypomobility though this is felt to be within normal limits given lack of additional findings. This is seen best on coronal fiesta cine sequence series 4 image 89. There is diverticulosis without diverticulitis - this is NEW

Impression;
3.3 cm left ovarian cyst. Although this is likely a benign simple cyst.
Consider follow-up pelvic ultrasound for better characterization.

Suspected 1.2 cm splenic artery aneurysm. If clinically warranted, this can be further evaluated with CTA of the abdomen.

So, I first had a follow up with my Gyn - showed the cyst was slightly smaller, may be associated with menses as I have not yet hit menopause. Just need to keep an eye on that - no further treatment.

Next was a visit to a vascular doc - which I had to push for as the GI office NEVER called me with results - I ended up messaging them since there is a family history of aneurysms (mom).

Vascular ordered a CTA, which I had done last week, got the results within a day and had follow up visit this past Monday. Aneurysm is somewhere between 1.2-1.7 cm, and I now have an appointment for Feb. 3rd to have a coil embolization done.

More interesting 'stuff' from the CTA -
FINDINGS:

CTA: The arteries are well-opacified with intravenous contrast. There is no significant atherosclerotic. Celiac artery, SMA, bilateral renal arteries, and IMA are all widely patent. There is a splenic artery aneurysm that measures 1.2 cm in size, stable from prior MRI. Vascular doc says probably bigger.

Lower chest: There is mild bibasilar dependent atelectasis. - looked this up - mild collapsed lungs in the lower lobes

Liver: The liver is enlarged, measuring 20 cm in craniocaudal dimension. The liver is diffusely low in density, compatible with diffuse hepatic
steatosis. No focal abnormalities are seen. aka - fatty liver.

Right kidney: Punctate non-obstructing calculus at the upper pole. This I know about from my annual visit to Urology (which is due again in March) - but I'll make sure he knows to look at the scan too.

I still have not heard anything back from the GI office regarding any results - since my doctor and PA retired/moved the communication seems to have fallen off. At least I can email/message them and someone usually gets back to me - but here is an example of having to be your own advocate!!!

I do have a 6 month visit with the GI scheduled for March 28th ....debating on if I should move that up or not.....and/or request a scope this year - for some reason the new dr put me on a 2 year schedule instead of annual as my last doc did.

And for anyone wondering what a splenic aneurysm might look like, here you go!!.....it's that pumpkin-looking thing....

It's good you are getting that SAA embolized. As I said on another thread, I had one that ruptured back in 2002 and I almost bled to death.

Even though mine isn't that big, I still want it taken care of - especially with my lifestyle - having horses/riding (and occasionally falling!) farm work, fire service work etc....all kinds of things could happen to me that might not be a big deal to someone else, but could cause a rupture.....

What I hate is the waiting lol.....gives me waaayyyyy too much time to google things lol. I did actually find a Facebook support group of people with SAA - getting some good personal input/experiences from that.
