Hi, I'm new to the forum, not new to Crohn's. I was diagnosed in 2005, with symptoms and scar tissue dating back to the early 80's. My stomach issues were always blown off by my family and my doctor while growing up, and I wasn't diagnosed until shortly after my youngest child was born. My initial diagnosis was mild, but over the last few years has ramped up to be considered severe and complicated. I had a fistula repair and ileocecal resection in 2012, and am trying desperately to avoid another surgery. My doctor is trying to get me on remicade, but my insurance is being difficult, so today I will go back on flagyl and pentasa (even though neither has helped in the past) and imuran. I have previously been on pentasa, asacol, entocort, prednisone, flagyl, and humira - none of which helped for very long, if it all.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story. I'm feeling really down, and a little angry about everything that's going on.

Hi Shanna

I am newish to the forum too. Welcome, you'll get the support you need here!

It also took me well over 30 years to get diagnosed (indeterminate IBD suspected Crohns), also after my youngest child was born. I think that will take me a while to accept, that it should have been recognised so many years ago and I have been sick for most of my life so far.

I am sorry your illness has become so severe and difficult to treat. I am sure you can find some people in a similar situation here, and also clues and tricks for medication, lifestyle, diet etc to help.

Plus it is good and healthy to have a rant now and again! Especially to people that understand.

:ghug:

Welcome to the forum. Keep fighting the insurance compay, if they keep denying it, ask to be review by independent board (state), meantime try to get into the remi star program. Good luck.

I have similar issues ie Remicade. My GI needs to resubmit from time to time. I got a bill this week for $14000.Remicare is worth checking out and may be able to help.

Hi, I m new to this forum and not very good at typing messages bit of a techno phobe. So Please bear with me, I was diagnosed in 2001 with crohns after being treated for irritable bowel for 5 years previously. Meds taken to date are prednisone , I imuram , calcium chew D, folic, and 3 treatments of inflexma. Really worried about my long term use of prednisone (on /off over the last 15 years) suffer with joint pain, weight gain and depression. Also is there a link between breast cancer and crohns? Shanna I think I know how you feel I get angry too.
