Good afternoon Crohnies

My name Is Leah and I was trying to find information on comfortable ways to sleep after having a resection.
I've had crohns for 3 year I was fine for the first two occasional flare up but another dose of steroids and id be fine.. but my crohns took a turn this year and have been on buidesonide and azathioprine.

I was on holiday in LA and Vegas and had a bowel Obstruction in Vegas (may just gone) and luckily got back to the UK without any surgery a few months later same pain as a bowel obstruction being sick...I have unfortunately had to go under the knife. Last week,

I am oksih but the problem is trying to get comfy in bed! does anyone have any ideas on how to sleep after a resection!!!!!!

Doing my boyfriend in with me moving all the time.

many thanks
hope to talk to you all soon!!!

:)

Hi there welcome! :bigwave: I have had two resections and it isn't easy, your best bet is to lay on your side opposite to your surgery site and put a pillow behind you so one, your bf wont hit it by accident and the other so you dont hurt yourself. Many people here from the UK, many to welcome you and share their thoughts and laughs. Welcome aboard!.

aww brill im gunna try that now. I have been laying like im sat up with loads of pillows and sliding down haha! Thank you
Nice to hear from you.

HI Leah, welcome to the forum:rosette2: i don't know much about the sugery because i haven't had one done. and i have had it 21 years now and counting. in my judgement i don't think doing your bf in the bedroom is such a good idea at the moment. just wait a while longer so you can heal your body first. then you can do your bf.best wishes:thumleft:

im so jelous that you have never had surguy. I must of abused my body so bad lol. im only 23! little baby as some drs have said.
i was so very worried in taking the option but I couldnt handle being sick with the waves of pain i was getting... When I first declined of surgery the Surgeon said.. "Bet you sick weeks and you will be back,." And you guessed it.. He was right..
I guess its a case of getting used to the soreness. :(

Im still amazed!! youve done soo well!!

I dont mean sex!! hahaha I mean with me constantly moving trying to get comfortable is doing his head in
lol
if only itl be a vvvv long time i think!
Thanks
Leah

Ha ha my surgeon said basically the same thing to me when I declined his kind offer of going under the knife he just sat back in his chair and grinned!!! He was right and yes I had a reaction also, sleeping was a nightmare for me due to the trapped gas In the shoulders te surgery site wasn't that bad!!! Yes sleeping in the foetal position is good but getting plenty of ex during the day helps the pain at night and take plenty of pain killers even if u feel u don't need them ur still recovering. It gets better really soon I promise 5 weeks post surgery I was like a new pin. Welcome to the club

Hi Leah! That is terrible that you had an obstruction while on vacation! But I am glad you are doing a bit better since the surgery. I don't have any experience with a resection, so i can't offer any advice. But I sure hope you start to feel better each day and can sleep more comfortably. Hang in there!

Yeah I was also going to say, my husband slept in the other room I was terrified he would hit the area by mistake. It was my second surgery and a lot more painful. Take you eating slowly too, dont overdo, when you sleep you heal... so get lots of sleep ;).

Leah, its sux! No doubt. I have had 4 abdominal surgeries. First one from my CD, the other 3 all from scar tissue that formed. I slept in a reclyner for weeks, but a good reclyner. Then I selpt on our couch, because it was the type that the back pillows come off and its like a twin bed. I could prop pillows up all round me and under my kneeds to get comfortable. Laying flat on your back hurts, even on your side because of gravity. Then, I got the bright idea to try my extercise shorts. Not super tight ones, but with enough support and room to pull them way up to my rib cage over my incision. it just held my stomach durning the night so if I moved gravity didnt pull so darn hard and wake me up. Belive it or not, I slept with those type of shorts on for close to a month or more.

They key is to find out what works for you, not anyone else in the house! You have to get good sleep. Kick the boyfriend on the couch if you have to. LOL.... Barrow a reclyner, lots of pillows, what ever it takes.

One night after my second surgery, I tried to lay in bed for a bit, my kitty decided to use my stomach as a launch pad! I screamed so lound I think I woke the dead. She didnt know she did anything wrong. So back in the reclyner I went. Good Luck
