I have a cold, and the tablets I normally take say they shouldn't be used if you have a history of stomach ulcers. Since this is the same warning that is on the aspirin packet, I thought I'd best not risk it.

Are there any other over the counter remedies I should avoid?

Rebecca.

Yup, all NSAIDS... like aspirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen/etc - at least without your gastroenterologists permission.

Things you can have are paracetamol, codeine, and with a cold I like pseudoephedrine as it dries out the runny nose misery.

Hi there, I also find if anyone is on Flagyl should NOT take anything with alcohol base in it, you will get sicker. In any country, most OTC are not regulated and if you are not sure ask your doctor or better yet your pharmacists, they know more than the docs know ;). Good luck.

I try not to take anything for stuff like this as almost any type of pill bugs my stomach. I did get a neti pot and find it works great for clearing out congestion - and no drugs! That and breathe right strips usually get me through.

Hey Kelly do those nose breathing strips really work?

Sorry for the hijack, just wanted to know.

They work for me. My husband and step son both use them as well. You just have to make sure that you have them on correctly. They are a little pricey, but to me it is worth it for not taking any more pills!
