Pain after bowel movement

Hi everyone I had a surgery three weeks ago for an anal fistula where the doctor placed a rubber band on my fistula. Everything seems to be going well except for the throbbing pain I experience for 1-2 hours after taking a number two. I am taking stool softeners and fiber as well as sitz baths. Wondering if this is normal or if anyone else has any expirience with this? thanks in advance.

Might be irritation or a hemorrhoid, although I'm not sure where your pain is actually located (that info may help get you better answers, also what type of fistula etc). Never had a fistula before but that pain could be a number of things.

After i got my seton in, and before i got my seton in i would often get a throbbing or bruised feeling after a BM. It did eventually go away, i cant say when for sure and there are days now if i have a REALLY bad BM and D day that i ache but i did find that heat helped me. I warmed up a magic heat bag and literally sat on it.Also use sitz baths and pain relief.

I have two fistuals, peri rectal and bum pain is nothing new for me.....

thanks for your replies, ontariomom thats pretty much what im expiriencing. im glad to hear the pain eventually subsides. i will update as this heals thanks everyone.
