I’m wondering if this could be an important environmental factor in the development of Crohn’s disease; since exposure to cigarette or other tobacco products’ smoke significantly worsens Crohn’s disease; while it helps with ulcerative colitis.

I quit in 2010 after smoking for several decades enjoying both cigs and cigars. Quitting made no difference for my symptoms, the flares remained about the same after quitting. However, smoking is a filthy habit and everything from my mouth to my house cleared afterwards. I would never pick up a smoke again for that reason.
