No where else really to talk about this as the rest of the family doesn't know yet (at Mom's request)...until she knows more....

She has been having an issue with swallowing, went to her doc, then a GI who dismissed her issue as reflux...even though she would CHOKE of something as small as a tiny pill....finally got to see another GI doc, who referred her to an ENT....had a CT scan and something else done which ~finally~ showed the issue - some kind of mass in her neck. I looked at the report yesterday, the mass is in the area of her thyroid, Dr doesn't seem to think that it is anything malignant as it has been there for a while now with no real change in symptoms.

So, Mom has an appointment on Aug 24th at Albany Medical Ctr with a surgeon, no idea how soon after that her surgery will be done....

Hoping it is benign and nothing else is found!!!!!

sending prayers paso!!

I hope everything turns out benign and she can get the mass out soon to make her feel better! let us know how she goes.

Will say a prayer for your Mum tonight and on the 24th August.

Best wishes from the UK :uk_flag:

Oh Paso...:hug::hug::hug:

I hope all turns out well for your Mum, what a worrying time for you all. :(

Sending loads of love and well wishes your way...:goodluck:

In my thoughts,

Thanks all.....Mom told me yesterday she talked to her primary doctor yesterday and he will try to get her an earlier appointment.....at least her busiest season is over with the nursery.....

I'm sending good thoughts your way. Hopefully it's totally benign and they can just take it out and restore her to normal. So glad she saw another doc instead of listening to the "it's just reflux" nonsense.

I realized I forgot to add they also found an aortic aneurysim....not big enough yet (4.4 cm) for surgery but needs to be checked every six months.......ugh

Oh gosh! I'm really glad they found that *before* it was a medical emergency though.

Wishing your mom and all the best.....positive thought, and to you too. It must be hard being in the know and not being able to talk to anyone in the family, that can be quite stressful.

Hugs,

Kat

 I'm very thankful I have my 'family' here.....

Mom is very matter of fact about this whole thing...amd is glad that the aneurysm as found when it is NOT an emergency.....and now I do need to talk to my doctor about this as it runs in families....

Looks like surgery will be sometime in September - as she still has to consult with a thorasic surgeon.....

Just a waiting game now!

Please don't worry, it doesn't help at all. When we are weak, then HE is strong. Put your faith in the rock and He will see your Mom thru this and her heart issue. He has seen me thru so many scary things and I learn and grow as I go to trust him and not myself. Suffering humbles us and makes us see there is something other than ourselves we can rely on. Not preaching, just relaying my own experiences thru suicide, sister's death, cancer, crohn's, fibromyalgia and Life in general. He is my strength!!!!!

Sorry to hear you are going through all this. The key is through. Turn it over to the Lord and he will see you through. It soon will pass.

Has your mom seen an endocronologist? That is who usually handles tumors of the thyroid.

Blessings and prayers coming your way.

Like everyone else i'm sending good wishes and thoughts for you and your mum. The little I know about thyroid tumours (if it should even be this) is that they are easily treatable, the main nuisance being having to take thyroid hormones for life - which most of us crohnies wouldn't really find such a nuisance since we're already taking pills here there and everywhere. All the best.

My sister had half thyroid gland out at 20, her mass was a cyst. No problems since.

All the best to your mother.

Oh no, the waiting game is always the worst. I'm really sorry and your mom is brave to be going through this, and you too. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
