Hi all,
Im going to see my IBD nurse tomorrow to discuss new meds. I have loads of questions but is there anything i should be asking?
Also i notice that a lot of people are on special diets. Did you decide this yourself of did you IBD nurse decide it?
I haven't seen my IBD nurse since i was diagnosed in march so i want to make sure I'm asking all the right questions :)
Thanks

Generally diets are experimental decisions by patients and medical staff usually are supportive or against but don't suggest them. They sometimes will suggest a liquid diet but all the others they would say there is no evidence for it.

Certainly be sure to ask what medicine you can take that may have the least impact on you while having the greatest impact on disease management. Ask about all your options so you can make an informed decision. Good luck, keep us posted!

There is no real evidence about the role of diet in Crohns. I am only on a low residue diet because of strictures and it is recommended by my hospital. I would write down anything that you are worried about in relation to your medications so you don't forget to ask.

So update :) ..
Had an xray and everything looks ok as in no obstructions. Have to get another colonoscopy as my IBD nurse wants to check that its not crohns and also to see if inflammation has spread. Then hopefully will start new meds.
Just a waiting game now.
Thanks for the replies :D

When I was put on a polymeric diet it started off difficult because your used to eating but during it I felt ALOT better, but make sure you get all that confirmed by a dietitian because if not given the proper amount you can lose weight you don't intend to lose.

Hope everything goes well for ya.
