Just took my first dose after the loading doses (one injection instead of two like the loading doses). Less than 24 hours since the injection I started noticing it getting itchy and didn't scratch it cause I figured it hurt since my injection site is usually a bit painful up to a day after. Then while on the phone I decided to give it a light scratch but noticed my skin felt strange and looked down and saw a raised area with redness surrounding it. I haven't scratched it since and took pictures of it to show my doctor.

It feels warm and I took a Benadryl, marked the area that was raised with a marker to see if it gets bigger and gonna try icing it to see if that helps. I know it says it might be a common side effect but I hear about it a lot on the forum and many people say it only gets worse with time. Is this something that could eventually stop happening?

Here's an image. Not great quality. I blame my fiance. :p

I had the same reaction during my loading dose. I received 4 shots at first, then 2 shots 2 weeks later. Around a week after my first 4 shots I developed the same rash. Itchy, red, raised and sensitive. I am currently 4 months in and only experienced the rash for the first few shots. Hope everything goes well!

Hi Crabby,
This happened to me with my last injection exactly as you described.. No probs with the loading doses, it's just showed up now. I'm about 2 weeks from my 3 month mark, I hope it doesn't happen every time from now on. I was finding temporary relief from a stingoes type cream that contains lignocaine.

I'll let you know Tuesday, not due to inject until then.
This last one was more servere than the previous, so it will be interesting
To see if it's getting worse with each injection.

Mine went away after taking one Benadryl. Hopefully if it keeps happening that's all I'll need.

I have a very similar reaction with every dose. I take a Zyrtec before and Benadryl after. It helps some. The swelling and redness goes away for me within 48 hours.

doesnt look too bad to me. from what ive heard from pharmacists and the side effect list that is a pretty normal reaction. keep an eye on it though. i started humira and had no marks or side effects the first two months and then on my 8 or so injection i had a reaction similar to yours except raised and the size of a softball , maybe bigger in diameter. it is hot to touch , lasts about 4 days, and beyond itchy. after that appeared my crohns symptoms started back up. you can try the benadryl although it never helped me :( i am currently being taken off the humira , good luck hope it resolves itself!
