remicade infusion

hey guys. i had my second remicade infusion yesterday and i was wondering if anyone knew if anyone knew of any problems with smoking bud and being on remicade? also all these ivs are destroying all my veins and i have tons of collateral veins which sucks since i like to bodybuild, but now i actually have a knot in a vein where an iv was. it is actually below the spot where the iv was. it is a lump it feels like a hard pea sized ball, and it hasnt gone down and its been a couple of weeks. does this go away? ive asked about 2 nurses and doctors and they either say its a blood clot or just phlebitis, but i know its not just phlebitis becuase i have other veins that are taught and i know that does go away. thanks

If you have a good going phlebitis then it can cause the vein to thrombose and remain unpatent. Whether you get this depends on what is being trasfused-some things are more irritant than others.
I have the same issue with iron infusions (venofer)-sometimes wrecks my veins sometimes doesn't- its because its quite an irritant drug. Things like blood and iv fluids are less irritant and so less likely to cause inflammation of the vein which can therefore render the vein useless after that.
I am lucky so far as I have lots of lovely veins..the phlebotomists etc often compliment me on my great veins...how long this will last I don't know but I try to rotate their use and so make them last longer. Seems to be working so far.

Im suppose to start Remicade in 2wks and I smoke everynight and my physician knows this. She believes in medical marijauna and has not given me any reason to think that there would be any reaction between the two. Just my two cents:)

I've been on Remicade since late 2005 and so far no veins have been destroyed...do you have problems with your veins already? 2 infusions should not have destroyed them already.....

I do alternate arms - and IV sites too - right now I have 4 that I rotate through, and at every 8 weeks, one site gets hit generally every 8 months...giving plenty of time to recover.....

No idea on the pot question- if I were to smoke I'd lose my job.....(I work in Gov't sector)....

my veins didnt collapse from the remicade infusions, but from other things. ive been in the hopsital twice already for about 14 day periods and i got tons of antibiotics prednisone partial nutrition antacids etc, and these destory my veins and they collapse and grow collateral veins...i guess i just have to get over that. but i have this lump in one of my veins that is bothering me. its actually below where the iv was inserted, and its been there for about 3 weeks and im hoping it goes away. anyone know what it could be? the vein is taught, just like the rest that had ivs in them but this is an actual pea sized lump

and about the remicade and cannabis ive been smoking and been on the remicade, but i just want to make sure
