I know a lot of you out there have Rheumatoid Arthritis issues. I was researching selenium for our vitamin and mineral deficiencies database and came across two rather interesting studies. Here are the quick and easy abstracts:

Selenium and Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis and mineral deficiencies

Another study I found showcased that approximately 26% of people with Crohn's Disease have selenium deficiency.

If you have RA, you may want to speak with your rheumatologist (or whoever is overseeing your treatment) about having your Se levels checked. Of course, with a 26% deficiency rate, 1 in 4 of you reading this is deficient, so maybe don't wait for the RA to get checked if you don't have it yet ;)

Wonderful information! I just found out I have RA too. I was sore all over and now I have these knotty things growing on my fingers. Thank heavens it doesn't bother me when I write, or I'd have to go on disability for sure. I'm off to check out selenium.

The knotty things you have are most likely Rheumatoid Nodules and they are an EAF (Extra Articular Formation) of RA.
