Hello,
Sorry, I am not offering a all you can eat 'rib' meal. :sheep:

Does anyone get occasions of really sore, aching rib cage area? It last anywhere from a week to a month (sometimes longer but never less)If yes, what is it?

Hi! My daughter was having "rib pain" and we did an xray of the chest and her lungs were fine but she failed to tell us that she was also having pain in the upper right side of the abdomen. After much testing was done it was concluded that it was her gallbladder that was bad. She just had surgery on Friday and it was found to be diseased even though the tests kept coming up with nothing. I will tell you gallbladder problems start with nausea here and there and sometimes get better but it is progressive in nature and will get much worse if not delt with. She had pain both on the right and left side and pain where crohn's would present. She also had complained of back pain. So if you have tests done and are not conclusive ask for a hida scan. Especially important if high fat foods are a problem. I will get rib pain with a crohn's flare. I hope this helps. It is finally nice to have an answer as she has delt with this off and on for 4 years. We had to switch doctors to get the help we needed for her. I hope you get to feeling better soon and get the answers you need. Keep in touch!

This is interesting. I had posted on nausea and sweats on a different thread. I also get back pain but more intense on one side /left (which use to be the right). It does come and go.... I don't do well with high fat foods or bread but I chalk that up to so much bowel loss.
Do you think the gall bladder just goes bad or is it a go with CD thing??
Can the rib and back area hurt from CD?
I am a tiny familiar with coctocodritis, but this feels like more then the chest wall as it is the whole rib cage, kinda feels like its from the inside out and even is sore to touch when it gets bad. If I get the 'guts' up, I will call....
There are so many mothers on here. Your children are so fortunate to have such a loving parent. Not all parents are that way.
I really appreciate the post, thank you PieLady & Devynnsmom.

Well I don't know if the gallbladder going bad is a crohn's thing or not, but I could see with all the inflammation that we deal with I would say it is possible that it is related. I guess that is a question for the gi doc. My daughter towards the end had alot of trouble with bread too. She also had the nausea and the sweats too but was negative for the crohn's and celiac disease. When I get into a flare it does feel like my ribs are out of place and they get so sore. I have tried glucosamine with some success but it doesn't get rid of all the pain. I also take tylenol arthritis as well.

I have costocondritis, which is inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs. This is very painful when it flares up. Mine usually flares up in July and August when the humidity is very high.

My general doctor prescribed me NSIADS to help but that made the Crohn's worse. I only take Tylenol for it which does very little for the pain.
