I bought rye bread today instead of the regular white bread I eat thinking it might be better for my lunch at school but then I checked online and it said I shouldn't eat it. Should I get different bread or will it be fine because I've never tried it before.

I dont think we could give a definate answer. Everyone is different, i think if your stomach is constant then have a go. Try a little and see the difference. If ok try a bit more and see, then carry on until you come up with a conclusion :)

Not all rye breads are created equal,
Rye does contain gluten and lots of 'bad' carbs so it's never gonna be paleo/SCD,
some rye breads are just sh!t bread with a bit of rye in them, others are whole grain full fibre natural sourdough (at about 4 times the price), and there is everything in between....

Short term - try it and see
Long term - investigate paleo :)

Maybe you should try it when you don't have anywhere to be. That way, if it doesn't settle right, then you won't have to be stressed about it. If you tried it during a school day and it did end up not being a great choice Crohn's wise, that could potentially end bad. Just a thought, and I hope you can eat the whole loaf :)

Here in Finland everybody eats Rye-bread, nations favourite bread is dark rye bread. It is not necessarily whole grain but 50-100% made of rye. Anyways, I do eat it too. When I had severe blockage symptoms I avoided eating much, and even when I am doing fine I eat no more than 3-4 slices (normally just two) per day and only bread with no seeds or anything like that on it, no full-grain stuff! Grinded grain but made of rye. Make sure you dont eat too fresh rye bread it makes things worse. (Well I have never seen similar bread that what we have here so its hard to tell how processed or full of preservatives the bread is, ours is not) But I feel it keeps my stomach in better condition, much better than eating just white bread! Rye bread and oatmeal, thats my recommendation to start the day. I notice problems when I am traveling and forced to eat white bread, its not as good for me.

I think whether it is bad for you will depend mainly on its fibre content and on whether you tolerate gluten. Since you say you usually have "regular white bread", I'm guessing you're referring to wheat-based bread, which also has gluten, so if that's alright for you you should be fine with the rye in respect to gluten. But white bread is lower in fibre than brown or wholemeal, and for me and many others with digestive problems, that makes white better and healthier. So if you usually have white bread because of issues with fibre, that's probably the main thing you'll want to check with the rye bread.
