I'm sorry I cannot be of more help but my son has never had a seton. Hopefully others may be along soon.
 
There are a lot of factors that would be in play. It depends on the location of the fistula tract, how much the surgeon has to cut and clean and it they use a cutting seton or not, and if a fistulotomy is peformed as well. It is possible if they have to go through the sphincter that there could be some incontinence.

I find I cannot wait now once I feel the urge to go.

I would definitely ask your surgeon this question.
