I was disabled since september of last year because my crohn's got so bad that I was doubled over at work almost everyday and couldn't concentrate. So when I finally get my disability ans SSI about 2 months ago, I get this letter today from Social Security saying that "They believe my condition will improve or subside", and would review my case in 3 years. I almost died laughing so hard. I've been diagnosed almost 2 years and in those 2 years I have never really been in good enough health to work. So should I worry? Or is this just a scare tactic they use to screw people over. I really dont want to lose my SSI because I'd seriously be homeless without it, no joke.

That is standard protocol....my mom's disease is terminal (pulmonary fibrosis) and they evaluate her every few years....just want to make sure you aren't trying to get over on the man! I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The only time you should really worry is when you get the letter saying that you went up for review and they decided that you are no longer disabled. Happened to me once and I had to get a lawyer to help me win my case. It took a couple months but having a lawyer really helped cause it scares them into actually taking your case seriously. As Tammy said, everyone goes up for review.

I take it that the US is the same as Canada? I had the same problem I ended up losing my place because I couldn't work. I had to move in with the in laws (Great how much fun) I also almost claim bankrupt which I'm glad I didn't. But things got better as I got the meds in me now back to work and bought a house. Hang in there!
