what will i need to take into hospital that's different to last time?

Nothing is different than any other surgery

how long were you asleep?

About two hours. The surgery lasted an hour and a half, but that was faster than usual I have been told.

recovery time ?

About a week until you feel fairly decent. I went to work in our office a few hours a day a week after surgery. Got tired real easily. Pain pills contributed to the tiredness also.

how long were you off work ?

I am still off from my regular job, as it involves some lifting. If you have to lift any amount of weight, six weeks if they split you open. Four weeks if it is done laproscopically.

If you have an office job that does not involve lifting or other strenuous activity it could be as soon as two weeks, but that would be the absolute shortest time. It is largely up to the doctors judgement, and how quickly you recover.

how long did you stay symptom free ?

Have to get back to you one that one.

Do you miss your stoma ?

I can only describe it like this: I miss the stoma in the same way I would miss a red hot poker in my eye. In another words, I never liked it and was more than happy to have the surgery to rid myself from it.

any mental issues ?

Yes, but I had those before. :ybatty: No improvement since reversal except for losing the hatred of that bag.

The whole process was much easier than the original surgery, but I was real sick at that time. I would do it again if in the same situation.

You will have to allow time for your guts to readjust. They removed the valve in my Ilium so stuff runs a little quick and the big D is going to happen.

It will get better with time, and mine is a little better, but has a ways to go. I take Cholestymine when I have to for trips and such. No big deal.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Dan
