I'm nowhere near the stage of a reversal yet, but it just occurred to me, how do they know when you're ready for one? Because to test my crohns before they'd do barium x-rays, but now the liquid for those won't go through my colon, so how would they see it? Really confused :)

For me they did a colonoscopy. They went through my bum and through the stoma. I only had to drink about 1/4 of the prep. They said just drink till it goes clear, which didn't take long.

My CRS has advised he will be doing a total and complete EUA before agreeing to do the reversal.
He wants to check my butt isn't going to fall apart if he does the reversal.
He seems pretty excited about the whole thing!
The GI has also requested a colonoscopy prior to the reversal being done as well - this will probably be done at the same time (I hope!)

oh okay! Thank you :)
I've only ever been in a children's hospital before, so I'm a bit worried, because, well, they put you to sleep for colonoscopy's in there, and they don't in adult, but do you think they might still because I'm young? So scared!!

Hello amydfw, they will put you to sleep if you ask, at least thats what they did for me here in Halifax Nova scotia. Good luck.

Cecilia, wow I really wish I had of known that I could ask to be put asleep for my colonoscopy.. definitely doing that next time.. I'm in Halifax too:)
Good luck Amy!

I had no choice about my reversal, it was either remove the ileostomy and reconnect me, or let the ileostomy slowly kill me. Now with it removed, I have two belly buttons. lol
