Hello

I was diagnosed with mild crohns 17 years and been on pentasa ever since. I recently done some blood, stool sample and colonoscopy, everything was positive and didn’t show any advancement of the disease since my original diagnosis. To my surprise my GI mentioned that she didn’t think the pentasa was doing anything to help control the disease and suggested I quit taking the medication cold turkey.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Did you stop taking pentasa and gone medication free? If so what were the results?

Thanks

Interestingly, your GI recommended stopping the Pentasa after so much time, particularly with good, stable results. Some people can manage different kinds of mild Crohn's without medication, but this should be a decision made very carefully with your doctor. It may be a good place to start a trial period without Pentasa, with close monitoring.
