Training in a mild flare

training in a mild flare

is it ok to continue training while having a mild flare...i mainly do weights anda bit on the airwalker.. my stool is formed but theres a good bit of blood in it...im not in pain and i feel fine...do any of ye have expierence with this?? thanks
 
Kildare, I thought I would just repost my pm responce so that others can see too.

You have to judge how much calories you are actually absorbing to answer this. If you are in such a flare that you have the runs and don't seem to be absorbing much, then its best to just rest. Burning more cals may result in muscle loss. This is because your body has to find a source for the energy you burn. If food calories are not there, then it uses muscle. Also the runs can mean you might be dehydrated.
For the most part, if your stools are good, but a bit of blood then you could possible resume normally. Just make sure you are checking your iron levels through bloodwork to make sure you're not anemic. If you have are anemic because of the blood loss, you run the risk of passing out in the gym if you push too hard.
