Hello! I started slimming world last week and on the Monday I had some melon, a tangerine and some homemade veg soup - i had stomach pains from that evening that sort of carried on until Wednesday. Normally I have very little effects and sm not on any meds, I was diagnosed a few years ago and am 34. I have no weight issue except I am overweight! There are loads of foods you can eat for free on most diets and I notice a few of you say raw veggies are a big problem? I make soups like carrot & lentil (blended) and lentil carrot barley and ham and am usually ok so I'm thinking its the fruit maybe?? Anyone else tried Sw and if so how did it go? X

I haven't tried a slimming club but trying to set healthier after gaining 1 and half stone after having loads of operations and being back on medication.

My best advice would be to use myfitnesspal and track your calories (weigh and measure all your portions) for example a boiled egg has as many calories as an apple. I personally would avoid those bottomless fruit and veg diets as the only raw veg I can tolerate is iceberg lettuce and peeled cucumber - apples, raw carrots, raw celery and leafy greens such as kale and spinach even when cooked really don't agree with me.

Melon is one of the few fruits I can tolerate but everyone is different. Is there anything else that is new in your diet or things you've increased like whole grains, high fibre foods, dairy, sugary things like yogurts or cereal bars?

I find I cannot tolerate lentils nor barley.

I now make all of my soups from scratch so I know exactly what's in them.

They do take a long time to make, but they are very easy (most of the time is just waiting) and can be made in batches.

For instance
Chicken soup
Chicken carcass in a pan with 1xcelery 2xcarrot 1xonion (all chopped up roughly) 1 bay leaf and bit of thyme and black pepper.
2ltrs water on top and simmer for 2-4hrs (or use a slow cooker over night) removing scum from the top.

Strain, and remove any left over chicken from carcass and add to stock. Add things like cubed potato. spaghetti pasta peas, carrots etc and cook. To thicken use porridge oats or cornflower. Season

Other easy soups are tomato, beetroot (absolutely gorgeous), carrot and corriader.
