I've had much experiences with the big "D", but I have recently started having problems with the big "C" and it's kind of uncharted territory for me. I was wondeing if anyone knows what might be the cause what do you usually do to make you go?

I feel your pain!!! Since Aug I have had D every day, up to 15 times a day. After they found the Crohns the put me on Entocort & that's when I started having the big C. Just saw my GI on Weds, he told me to SLOWLY work a fiber pill into my daily diet.....1/4 or 1/2 of a pill a day for a few weeks till my body adjusts. Never thought I'd be wishing to have the big D back again! LOL

Good luck!!!!

i am no expert but i think the cause of constipation depends on where the narrowing in your intestines is and which parts of your intestines are diseased. i have a stricture in my lower right side...and i think the other areas of my intestines that have been inflamed may be the areas that are AFTER the waste has been formed....
also, i think i have a fissure so i think that contributes to the constipation.

but mostly it seems like the constipated crohnie's have strictures in similar areas of the intestines.

i don't stay constipated for long though...and when i do have BM's, my stool is always solid/normal and i go once or no more than twice a day.

diarrhea has never been a problem for me.

Thanks for the info everyone. It has been a week that I have been constipated. i have not taken anything other than trying to eat a lot of high fiber cereal which has done nothing, so maybe I will take Jillian's advice and try a fiber pill.

I think Kello posted on a different thread that she feels like she is going to have D and then sits on the toilet and nothing happens. That is what's happening to me, but when I finally am able to "push" something out, it is very little and very hard. The feeling of D finally subsides on its own, though. This morning I finally passed a fairly normal, solid formed stool, but it took a lot of effort. I have mild abdominal cramping, but nothing I would rush to the doc for. I know that I have fissure, do you think that could be the source of my problem? I have never had a stricture, at least to my knowledge.

yeah i read that fissures can cause constipation also fissures are caused by constipation (the chicken and egg thing)... which is why i mentioned it above. you can usually feel a pain in the lower area as you're going.... then when i finally do force something out, i usually have a lot of bright red blood.

not sure if you've experienced the bleeding.
