What is YOUR weather like today??

This the second day of fairly heavy showers. Most of the effects of ex-cyclone Trevor had seen heavy falls in the drought-affected inland areas which is great news for those who need it. 26* today, more rain due.

Wonderfully sunny in the Midlands today. I really appreciate sunny days to raise my spirit up. Almost feel as though I could take the thermal vest and woolly aran jumper off today.

Cmack, you made me laugh with that comment.

Some fresh snow coming down, perhaps enough to coat the icy snow pack enough that I can go for a ski later. The number of opportunities left for going for a ski are limited.

+2 and it started off sunny, now a little snow cloud right over the city, it's so small it won't last long. It's melting as it hits the ground. I still have about a foot of snow in the middle of my back yard, the sides are all melted. I got busy washing windows, because pretty soon I'll be spending all my time outside.

Little warmer than yesterday, which was about 23*, At present about 25 or so, with a max of 27 forecast. Still some showers around and SE winds 10-15knts. Warmer weather its with usual predicted accuracy 'suspected' for next week.

Same on the Sunshine coast Merv . Cooler but still very humid. Maroochydore got 118mm for the day yesterday. We got about half that. A bit warmer today but showers still coming thru. Ron.

Lovely and sunny again today. Nice and warm already. Am going to try and sort some stuff in the garden whilst there is no rain and i'm feeling like I have a bit of energy.

16c clear blue sky and lots of sun...but boy was the wind chilly at the coast. As we cycled past the shorts and t-shirt brigade I thought to myself " I bet you wish you'd brought a sweater".…..These will be the same folk who suffer bad sun burn if we get a good summer

Deceptively bright and sunny, but it's actually -8. Southern Ontario is in the midst of snowstorms, but we missed them all.

-13C with enough fresh snow to get me on the skis. The opportunities to get out on the trail are becoming fewer, I'll take advantage of it. I am not ready for spring yet, winter is my favorite season, the wild fires, vermin and insect repellent will come soon enough.

Much cooler overnight. Lovely morning today, with, any Japanese members will excuse me,' a slight nip in the air'. Hopefully, Autumn has arrived. minimal rain and cooling SE winds for the rest of the week.

Quite nice here today. We had a high of 16c....Still lots of pruning to go though. Got a new lawnmower and it seems pretty decent, I assembled it today and it fired right up on the second pull. It's made by Certified, I hadn't heard of that company before. Briggs & Stratton 174cc engine, which I like. Ask me in a few weeks and I'll give my further review. :)

Cheers!

I haven't heard of the Certified brand, CM. Are they local ( Canadian) products, or, made, like most things nowadays, in China? I have Toro, which I think was manufactured in the US. It is cumbersome, but self- propelled and reliable. The old Australian Victa brand is now made China too nowadays.

We had a gardening business for years before hubby retired. He still cuts lawns for some of the neighbours (to keep his hand in,he says) Briggs & Stratton were his favourite.

It's been a nice day, warmer than the 8c it says.We had a walk along the river, but high up, away from the crowds.Clocks went forward last night so we are now into British summertime.Stand by for whinging from me.Summer is not my favourite season....

I hear you Carol, I don't like daylight saving time. Rather it wastes time as I find myself inside working on supper when I would still be outside on the old time. I dislike late sunsets and late sunrises.

Yesterday I went for a lengthly ski, the snow pack is solid supporting my weight and I could go up the side trails off of the main trail to places I cannot get too very often. I could have kept on going but had to know my limit as to what my body could take.
Chris, you should have good performance from Certified, they are a reliable build.

It's currently 14c here with scattered cloud cover.

Regarding the new mower, some parts (such as the deck) are made in China. Everything else seems pretty legit. I'm quite impressed with the rear wheel self propelled assembly. It also has only one very sturdy height adjustment lever which is very well though out.

Sounds like you had a nice skiing session, Buff. Right on man!

Cheers all!

Lovely and sunny today, again. Whoopeee from me for Summertime, lol. Can't resist a good bit of warmth and sunshine.

Seen a good few butterflies, have loads of ladybirds (procreating), the bees have arrived and I even had a fly in my kitchen. Not spotted a hedgie yet.

It's currently +4 and clouding over. Looks like we're going to have a rainstorm. That would actually clean the streets and sidewalks a bit. Everything is covered in sand, the city takes a long time to sweep the winter sand off.

Took a drive to an old hunting and fishing spot to go for a long ski to visit places that I have not been to in many years. The one lake that was all wilderness now has been developed and they are diamond drilling a large area of prospecting claims that followed the logging. A mine may start up one day, which would be a shot in the arm for the struggling economy in our area.

It gave me a feeling of deja vu as the area was once a prime remote wilderness area rich in wildlife and fishing opportunities in my younger days.

Sun, clouds, rain and hail. Oh, and colder today. Think it's going to be the same for the rest of this week. So similar to Scottsma.

I hate it when wildlife areas are destroyed by humans. Haven't we taken enough for ourselves? tut tut.

Cold this morning -4c... It got real warm as soon as I had to go to work on the roof though! Cleanin' chimneys is a dirty game... especially when the creosote sticks so well to the sweat of your brow... ;)

Sunny day today, there were a couple of very short showers this morning, but nicer although I did pop the heating on briefly earlier.

Before I can plant up my hanging baskets the jackdaws are pecking out all the basket fabric and moss out for their nests. Might buy wicker ones this year so they cant destroy them.

-4 this morning with a bit of snow on the boulevard, with more in the forecast. I don't think we'll get a lot.

Fresh snowfall and that means one thing, I'll be out exploring the far reaches of the ski trail this afternoon.
Chris, chimney cleanings are no fun, I installed my wood furnace so that I can access and clean the chimney from the basement behind the furnace, as I am as useless and clumsy as a horse up on the roof with polished hooves.

-8C clear skies. Yesterday conditions allowed me to go on a long ski as the firm deep snowpack at this time of year allows one to go almost anywhere. Today there is work to do at the cabin.

We are getting short heavy showers every day. You are not game to go anywhere without the brolly. Temps are finally in the pleasant range with max at 27 and 20 c overnight. Ron.

Much as Ron has described, pleasant SE winds for the past few days which keep the island mosquitoes semi-grounded. As winter approaches they seem to be more active, anxious to get the last bite in before sniffing it!

Wish we could get up to the 20's.
Looking a bit brighter than yesterday, but there's still a wind out there and the day is young. The garden needs the water but it's delaying me from sorting it out for Spring.

11c but feels a lot colder with the wind chill, but dry.
There was snow in parts of the country which took a few folk by surprise, not to mention new born lambs that had probably been born in sheds then turned out with there mums at a day or two old. If snow's expected the lambs are usually dressed in polythene jackets.

I spent the day out at the cabin cleaning up the pile of water damaged stuff outside the cabin including the old mattress. Hauled it all out by snowmobile to take to the dump. The hard pack makes it easy to transport heavy loads on the trails. The time is quite limited now, as the spring melt could happen anytime.

26 c and occasional showers. We have had more rain in Autumn than in all of summer when we would normally expect it. Everyone around town is happy that their rainwater tanks are now full. Ron.

+4C. 25mm of rain expected for tomorrow. The ground is still frozen so there could be flooding. I woke up with sore hips and figured rain is on the way. I don't really want to be a barometer, but what can you do.

Gray and miserable. Going forward it looks wet. At this time of year the calendar moves slower than molasses forgotten in the back of the fridge; it feels like we already had a full month of April but only one week of it has gone by. If my finances would allow I'd book a trip to the Caribbean.

I could join you in the Caribbean, Buff. Sounds lovely.

dull and cold here. I've been planting seeds for summer colour lately. Got many tulips out already and more coming up. Apparently the weather isn't going to be too warm or mild next week. Never mind, I hope we have another good summer this year.

Its an indoor type of day, as we are expecting a lot of rain moving through the area. The heavy soggy snow pack isn't going to help those living in low areas. Its the time of year we are paying for both our past winter and the upcoming summer. I'll find out how much income tax I'll be paying at months end. Seems to be the month of billing be it nature of the hand of man.

Another wet day, the rain made a mess of the snow pack, its still well over half a meter thick and will take several weeks to melt. The snow itself has become icy beads as it compacts and could become hard and firm once again with the next cold front expected later in the week. Spring is a long often messy progression before the warmth of the growing season sets up.

It was over 30c in quite a few areas in SEQld yesterday. The winds have swung to the north and with them comes the heat. lower temps and more wind and rain for the rest of the week after Wednesday. Ron.

10C. Most of that rainstorm passed to the south of us. The snow is gone, so I can start planning my garden. There is scattered flurries in the forecast.

Showery and a chill wind. Not as chilly as North America of course. When does that snow shift, Buff and Tuff? I've been looking at flowers for quite some time. January onwards usually. Lucky us.

It will be another 3 weeks at the very least before the seasonal shift takes place, and then there is always the chance for a late season snowfall anytime in May. The ice on the lakes break up on the first or second week in May. It does not end there, for once the snow is gone the black flies come out in force, followed by mosquitoes and the unpredictability of wild fires.

This morning its -5C and we received 3 cms of fresh snow on top of our existing snow pack which has firmed up. Enough to go skiing, and good skiing at that.

I'm not a summer lover at all, and I definitely wouldn't leave the house when the flies and mozzies where in full force.I had a little whinge today because it was warm in the car.

Luckily hubby's of the same mind.

Had to use the snowbrush to clear the windows and hood on the truck yesterday, and forecasters are calling for a snowstorm later tomorrow. I should have stocked up better as the doctor apt may have to be rescheduled depending upon how much snow we receive.
-8C under clear skies this morning, perhaps a ski this afternoon.

Great news Di.,...Chris.I'd love deer poo in my garden as would Di. I'm sure'

11c and sunny but a really chill feel to the wind, not complaining though.

Today the hay and straw in the hedgehog house has been nicely rearranged, no hedgie in there this morning though. Haven't seen one but will keep looking. I would love deer poo in my garden too, or a deer. We do get to see mainly muntjac deer around here. Not very big though.

Lovely and sunny and a tad nippy in the wind.

Lots of dog poo on the side of the road while walking over to the neighbor, a sign we need another dump of snow so the snowplow can clear it off later. All this talk of poo; Before the loggers came through we had piles of moose poop everywhere, and I would find moose in my yard. I would collect their 'offerings' for fertilizer for my garden and it worked well. Today I have not seen moose tracks for well over a year and the last time those tracks were from only one moose at the far end of the ski trail.

-10C this morning, sky overcast and still expecting the snow.

I wish I could send you some deer, Di. We have extra here and other communities don't have enough. I wonder if the mayor would allow it... I do know him quite well...;) Too much political red tape... maybe we could disguise it as Rudolf during the Christmas season. :) It's nice here today and the street sweepers are out working. It's 17c here currently.

Oh, Dear, Poo!,
Considering our collective problems, I would have thought that this was the last thing we would want to discuss! mind you, we do have considerable expertise in this field.

26*, today with quite frequent showers, some brief, but heavy. Much the same forecast through to late next week.

I feel quite jealous of the 17C you have there CM.

Can't believe you're missing your moose, Buff. Nature is dying out and probably because of us humans.

I've got my heating on. It's cold, windy and trying to rain.
I'm looking forward to Summer.

Same here.Having a day indoors pottering about and reading.Warming up soon, alledgedly.I'm usually putting winter clothes away by now and looking forward to T.shirts or nice tops for town.It might be a while yet.Of course then you'll have to put up with me moaning about the heat. All 18-20 degrees C.
of it.:ylol: :cool2: :ymad:

We received snow, about 5 cms but not the big dump they predicted, this allowed me to go to the doctor despite the messy roads. Doc seems to think that I will be around for awhile yet since nothing unusual was found.

I may go for a ski this afternoon, but I have to stay clear of the beaver ponds as heat from below has melted the ice. Spring is in play, but its a slow game.

Wild life levels are crashing, and its not climate change as its continually tossed around as the excuse to keep on clear cutting which is not that different from strip mining, leaving wide expanses of land devoid of anything.

I'm dead set against clear cut logging unless it's on private land. Even then I still find it a shameful thing to do. Today was a little cooler 10c with cloud cover and some showers. I can see plenty of snow falling in the mountains around us.

I despise how human are destroying the planet. I can't believe what plastics are in the seas too, not to mention Fukushima and oil spills. We are one shameful species. Not that we trash the planet but others are only too happy to.

Nicer weather today. I have bluebells coming out and the jackdaws are busy collecting materials from my garden and the hanging basket liners. I have some violas in them that have sprung up by last years seeds. They're trashing them too. I have done some pruning and the left lying cuttings are soon scooped up for their nests. Springtime. Wonderful.

-5C Sunshine. Yesterday I went for a ski, and from the forecast going forward it maybe the last ski for the season. A lot of heat coming up through the bogs and beaver ponds has melted the base from below making the snowpack unstable despite still being quite thick.
Clearcut logging has to be be perhaps the most destructive form of resource extraction, turning forests into time bombs; Karma will have its way when these replanted engineered tree farms face insect infestations and go up in flames as they do in increasing numbers.

A really cold 7c again. We had an hours drive up the coast today,to a market.Just a general market, cheap and trashy and fruit and veg. It's a year since we were there and it will be another year before we return,if ever.Lots (and lots and lots....) of Easter holiday visitors, all warmly clothed in parkas and wooly hats At least we were back home in an hour. It's a lovely coastline and countryside, very historical, lots of castles and the like, and long beaches and dunes,,,,BUT…..wind farms.I hate them It won't be very long before all our trees are gone and there will be forests of them covering the Earth.Future generations won't ever see a beautiful tree or woodland. How sad is that ?:(

We did some pruning and had a fire in the garden. Nice out today...17c and still sunny. There are tons of birds building nests here too. An osprey came and snapped off a 7-8 foot dead branch off one of our Douglas firs and flew away to make its nest even bigger. It was like watching helicopter logging... but the natural version. It made the task look easy! I know where the nest is and I will be checking it out in a month or so to see if mother bird will let me have a gander at the babies from down below.

CM, puts my jackdaws in perspective, lol. I would have loved to have seen that. Amazing what nature is.

Looking bright out this morning. My neighbour mowed my lawn yesterday, now it looks better. Was the first mow. Hope to have a good spring clean and off to charity shops over the next couple of weeks.

Went for a long walk on the lake yesterday, all the snow has melted off the ice making it easy going. This morning I saw the first chipmunk running about. Sure sign of spring. I am going to start digging out the big 10 cord pile of 8 foot length wood and start cutting firewood. The problem is that the snow down there is still almost a full meter or more deep and it does not get much sun.

Busy day today, it was nice outside in the mid teens centigrade. I spent most of the time in the shop working... things need to get done you know. I can still catch a few rays now that I'm finished for the day. Cheers all!

another cold 8c with mist at the coast and walkers still in their winter clothes. The wind has dropped a bit but the sea is grey and choppy and at high tide the waves are crashing against the cliffs....

Gray with a passing flurry, and woke up to a new thin layer of wet snow. Yesterday was a warm sunny day and with the double reflection of the sun off of the snow it does not take much to get a good tan going while working outside around the house.

Bright but not exactly sunny. Grey skies set in in the afternoon. Planted more seeds up and am having the clear up of a life time. Getting rid of loads and enjoying the declutter. More hedgie poos around the garden, not seen one though. I will. The birds are collecting the softer materials to fluff line their nests. Jackdaws get a great amount in their beaks.

Not just bedding Di.,but I know you'll have noticed just how much food all the crow family
can get in their beaks at any one time. I think every nook and cranny, including satellite dishes, are a hiding place,in case of hard times.

Haha, you made me laugh. They scoff so much and fight each other pulling by the wings. The fighting birds make such a huge din I go and separate them.

Bucketing down. Would love a thunderstorm.

3C cloudy and expecting some showers later. I finished digging out a work area by the green pile. The snow is nearly a meter deep in the area, now it can melt back for a couple of days and ready go.

Have been inland today and temps.reached 23c !!! Here at the coast it's reading 12c. much nicer.....The roads are ridiculously busy coming up to the Easter weekend,so our car will not be going anywhere until Tuesday.Walks or cycle for us.

Lovely and sunny today. Waited in for parcel though. How boring is that? Shall get in the garden now for a bit. I'm not in a tourist area anymore thank God.

Had to run errands and a doctor's visit. Its nice to ditch the boots and put on slippers for driving and getting around stores. But I still need the boots once I get home. I may start cutting wood this afternoon.

A wet Easter here , expecting 10-20mm every day until next Thursday accompanied by moderate to strong SE winds. Not fishing or kayaking weather. Ron.
