Fancy working there, Merv. I lived my first 10 years in Bracknell so i know that neck of the woods, but not actually Broadmoor. Must have been bloody interesting working there Merv.
Yes, Spooky, life at the old, as it was named ;Broadmoor Hospital for the Criminally Insane did have some sticky moments. Every item of crockery and cutlery waa stamped or engraved with BCLA ( Broadmoor Criminal Asylum). I guess this was to stop the staff pinching it. Anything that was not nailed down was apt to 'disappear! I left there in early 1977 to emigrate to OZ and continued working in the same field , interspersed with with becoming a '"General' RN , in addition to Psych . A mister/ sister, without a limp wrist! Broadmoor was key to having a successful nursing career before transitioning to the Probation Service in Sydney.
When in the Uk , I have visited the hospital a couple of times, but is a very different place now that the lunatics have taken it over.
I lived in Bracknell during the time I was at Crowthorne. My dear old Mum was from an old Brackenellian family that lived at Round Hill. Granddad Gates was the manager of Drake and Mounts which had a depot close to the Railway Station. In my younger days I played cricket for the town , Binfield and eventually Cranbourne. A trip down memory lane.
It is still around 28/9 degrees here ,but that is about average for this time of year. I must admit that I do sometimes miss the English Spring sometimes,. I hope that you are managing to cope with the restrictions that have been placed upon you. Can't b e fun , burt needs to be done, I guess.
While we can get out for essential items , medicine food etc Pam and I are keeping a low profile . Living on an island (Macleay Penal colony) does provide some natural isolation, and as yet there have been no reported cases here, or on the other Southern Moreton Bay island.
Keep safe and enjoy that sun.Cheers, Merv.
