What is YOUR weather like today??

Crohn's Disease Forum

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

-2C, more snow. The drive in to the ostomy clinic was tense with the heavy slush on the roads, I would have rescheduled the appointment if I had known it was so bad. For a Friday, the stores were not very busy, maybe the weather kept folks at home. It feels like a long drawn out spring is in store.

-2 Flurries, the cold weather continues, winter is trying to make a comeback. It went down to -8C last night. If it were not for the rising waters in the bogs, I could still go skiing. I managed to book my blood work appointment, but the website was very buggy.

Everybody in Australia gets up early on 25th April for the remembrance day dawn services across the country. I was never in any of the armed forces but I did 10 years of rolling shift work in dept of defense computing services division in Canberra.Ron.

8c and sunny but -2c during the night and no signs of warmth yet.I wish the heating/lighting bill would pop through the door soon. We're very careful but everything has shot through the roof so I know it'll be higher than usual.......Les has had his invite for the Spring covid jab but he's waiting 'til I get mine and we'll go together,,,,,

I would have slept through it all, as I had a good sleep last night. I have not made salads in a very long time, and I really enjoyed the cucumber salads I made with supper the last couple of days. I seem to feel better for it, maybe I am onto something. -2C clearing up, but remaining cool.

We had 25mm of rain yesterday. Still cloudy with showers today. I had my Covid booster and a flu shot last week when I was at the doctors We have been told that we are in for a severe flu season this year. Ron.

le.....hahaha wrote a good few lines and deleted accidentally.Couldn't recall it and couldn't be faffed writing another, nothing personal guys...dry and sunnyish but still cold at 7c

I went to my appointment at the rehab clinic today. It was basically about what can be done about vertigo. She kept asking me what my goals were and I basically said to wake up each morning. She asked me a lot about my attacks and how i knew I was having one. I just said it was really easy. If I tried to sit up on the side of the bed when I woke up ,if i kept falling over I was on the start of an attack. I would get to my pill box and take a stemitil straight away then lay down for most of the day. I would take another stemitil the next morning and I would be ok. She asked a few more questions then said ,you don't want me to do anything to make you sick do you? I said no I really don't. She said you have pretty well worked out your own salvation and if you are only suffering and preventing a couple of attacks a year ,you are doing better than most vertigo sufferers and I won't interfere with that. Sounds good to me. Ron.

-2C Sunny. Ron we know our bodies better than most doctors and therapists. We are also much older in many cases, our outlook on life is different from the younger people. We are more interested in quality of life, whereas the younger ones think more in terms of quantity rather than quality. The weather is better today, I hope to get some wood cutting done, its been a long cold spring with no sign of ending anytime soon.

Rain over-night and a grey coolish day today....we have another holiday on Monday for May-day when sweet children dance around the Maypole holding ribbons and grown men,Morris Dancers, dance with bells around their knees wearing straw hats. and hitting sticks as they go....but not in this neck of the woods luckily.

3C Gray damp cold. Two more days of it and we will put April behind us. I managed to get some wood cutting done, but the weather is not helping. Cleaned the chimney yesterday, which was about the most excitement of the day, a filthy job I could do without.

cloudy with a chance of showers. Monday is a labor day holiday here. Public holidays don't mean much to me. When I was in defense I worked most public holidays and when I worked for myself I still worked most of them. Getting a bit cooler next week ,finally. Ron.

cool and grey again. We need to get some outdoors cleaning done but will wait until it warms up a bit....surely it can't be long now....Ron,we are the same regarding holiday weekends etc.Les has mostly been self employed for 55yrs +,he's even been known to leave the xmas dinner table and go to work. He's always been a good worker with no complaints, well not many. It was just our lifestyle and didn't bother me....much Now he finds it hard to fill his days so we make sure to get out for a walk every day (when the maid has washed, ironed, cooked, vacuumed, made the bed and cleaned the bathroom etc she leaves washing the dishes until after she's cooked his lunch on our return} I wish Di., was still around, she would understand and not roll her eyes at me

Yes Carol I miss Di, she was a trooper and it took a lot for her to complain. I can always find something to do even if it is only to lay down and have a nap. that in itself leads me to believe that i may be closer to the end of my race than I would probably like. In the old days i found it hard to have a sleep during the day. Ron.

0C More snow, there's 5 more cms on the ground with the possibility for far more. Its not uncommon to get a snowfall late in the season, however its been well below normal all month long. I miss Di too, both in life and online I have seen a lot of friends passing, and life is quiet with so few people in my life now. You are not alone Ron, I need my daytime nap, without it, its getting hard to cope, I definitely feel it inside that there are far fewer birthdays left to come. Back in the day, I worked part time due to Chrons it was hard to hold full time work for any length of time, I worked pretty much all the holidays, and the overtime pay was good.

0C We received 25 cms and its not done yet. The whole area north of lake Superior got a thick blanket of snow, and it looks like they got it south of the lake too. Its right on the freezing mark making the snow sticky and heavy. I think I will do what Les is doing later on, sounds like a good idea on a day like this.

Our temps today are ranging from 13 c to 25c . Sounds like you guys would kill for some temps like that. The cooler temps make it easier to sleep but it makes all of my problem areas more painful. My knees back and shoulders are giving me a lot of grief at the moment with no prospect of relief.Ron.

It's warmer today but still grey and drizzly.....I've packed away the winter fur bed throw and armchair snugglers .We have other fleece throws in case Les goes into shock.,but we have to look forward..Getting him to discard his long underwear might be a fight though....

Very windy with a flurry 0C. I recall many other years at this time when I could park up in the summer parking area, but this year we still have a half meter of heavy snowpack. I can still use the snowmobile to bring supplies up the hill from the winter parking area. Its good that the storm brought snow instead of rain, slowing down the runoff. There would have been flooding with rain on the existing snowpack, as the rivers are running high.

Cool night and cool this morning, up to 25c today. they predict showers most days but we don't see them. Very quiet day yesterday for a public holiday. We are having some terrible trouble with youth crime lately. A 13 yr old boy stole a new jag yesterday ,rear ended another car which then hit two other cars head on. Three dead and one critical. The boy was arrested, he was unhurt. Ron.

There are many really lovely, kind and respectful youngsters around but they're doing good things and working hard so are not easy to spot. The toe rags can be spotted a mile away and unfortunately seem to outnumber the good ones. Why do they think the world owes them a living and they are invincible ??? Trouble is they're starting to breed but at least we won't have to live in fear of them......still cold and grey here but it's May, so it may rain,we may get snow and frost, the wind may blow,or it may warm up a tad so that I can at least discard my winter woolies.....

-2C windy with a flurry. We have cases of youth swarmings. As a large group they pick their target, often somebody weaker like a senior and they rob and sometimes kill them. I pay attention to my surroundings, and even then I still don't feel safe with all the other riff raff and homeless people out there, with more every year. I would not want to live in an urban area.

Unfortunately we have the large city of Brisbane with the large and relatively affluent Gold and Sunshine coast regional areas to the south and north. A lot of the problems arise when young people travel to these regional areas for a weekend of drinking and stealing (mainly cars which are invariably set on fire when they have had their fun.) These activities are unfortunately promoting the rise of another problem, vigilante groups are forming and both groups feel they have the right to arm themselves. It is very hard to predict how bad things will get before they improve. Cool weather for the next two weeks with a cold southerly blast reaching up as far as central Qld. Ron

14c and quite a pleasant day here...... but down to 4c tonight.......luckily we are 8mls from the nearest city (Newcastle) and it's not a bad area here, and a lot of the pubs in town have closed, there used to be one on every corner, but we do sometimes hear of scuffles etc. We never go out after dark or even after 2pm to be honest.

I went to the clinic to find out more about the scan on my wrist. Its tendonitis and it may not be covered by the public healthcare system. Our healthcare system does not cover everything, rather its full of holes and extremely expensive given the tax structure here. I barely made it up the hill on the side road. The truck went up the soggy snowpacked side road sideways fishtailing all the way, but the old girl made the hill. I take good care of her, and she takes good care of me. I was exhausted from the day and did not want to get stuck and walk all the way in with groceries. 2C Gray.

A cool night but climbing to 26c during the day. I had an ordinary day yesterday and spent most of it laying on the bed. I have to go to the chemist today as I am running out of some of my meds. I'll have some lunch while I am out. Ron.

Good luck Carol,I hope everything is ok. Hope the weather improves on both sides of the Atlantic. we are finally expecting winter to arrive next week. We shall see i it does.Ron.

5C gray and wet this morning. I cut firewood yesterday afternoon, and hopefully things will improve enough to work on it some more today. I am behind due to the cold wet spring we are enduring. Its the time of year we pay for winter and summer, this year I think we are paying too much. Carol would agree. Ron, you seem to have to pay extra for every season.

I'm certainly paying for the cool weather. Just about every joint in my body is screaming at me. We can land stuff on Mars but we have no idea on how to cure pain without casing worse problems. Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs are the only thing that eased my pain but they destroyed my kidneys. When I turn the tv on I am reminded of how much intelligence we have lost as a species . One pictures adults playing with kids building blocks . I don't understand how playing with lego is considered prime time viewing and now they are putting on another prime time show with adults making stuff with balloons . Give me a break. Ron.

We have a tv prog.called the Big British Sewing Bee.....I mean who wants to watch men and women sewing ? Food progs are everywhere too.We only watch drams, films and wildlife/nature docs, and sometimes struggle to find something out of the thousands of progs.available....16c today and sunny but alas it's rained on the Kings parade.Have only watched the outside stuff and not the church stuff.......I've got a further follow up apt for my blood results etc, on 6th June and a pain management apt, with the doc on 16th June......they were the first available. It's a good job I'm not nearly on my knees sometimes,,,actually I am......daily !!!!

I know what you mean, tallent has gone out the window, the music today has no substance or creativity anymore, they rave about Taylor Swift, its worse than the elevator music, it nothing like the music I recall from 20 or 40 years ago. I saw a preview of that lego show Ron, no wonder people are cutting the cord to their TV subscriptions. I like watching the up north shows where people live off the land in remote cabins which has similarities to my lifestyle. I cut firewood yesterday afternoon, the doctors office left a message saying I have a new prescription waiting for me. It was too late to call back, its making me wonder whats going on. I do know that one blood marker result came back pretty bad.

I hope that things are not too bad Buff and Carol I shudder when I hear that term Pain management, it often means they want you to pretend you are not in pain. Use one of my lines on them,' I don't care if you can't fix me but for goodness sakes don't make me worse'. There was a snippet on the news yesterday that they are researching Queenslands most poisonous tree ,the Gympie Gympie tree to see if they can make a pain medicine from the toxins of this giant nettle. If you even brush one of these trees you will forget about all your other pain instantly. No thanks. Ron.

Out of bed at 5-30am as usual.those tablets are not doing the job.It was foggy and a cruise ship leaving the Tyne hooted miserably. Then we had drizzle,But now at 1-30pm the sun is shining and it's 14c. We had a walk down to the arty-farty weekend market but didn't stay long.I was happy to pick up a book by my presently fave. author and a small bag of chocs.
I've heard of that tree Ron and to be honest I don't know how any of you over there get past teen years. As to pain management, if he thinks he's sending me to physio or stuff,he's got another think coming....just give me pain meds. They stopped tramadol 2 a day in August (it was useless) and I've been buying OTC since and although the stuff that works best for me tends to raise BP I'll continue to rely on it even at £9 a box.and even though I'm entitled to free scripts....

all's ok thanks Ron,I've just typed half a page but lost it again and can't be faffed to re-do it...catch you later.

Oops, it's just appeared !!!! am I losing it or just having a senior moment ???

I had something like that a couple days ago Carol, so it might have been both a tech moment and a senior's moment in our reaction. I called the pharmacy about the new med, and they said its for bringing my blood levels up due to the bleeding disorder. I wanted to go for a walk, but turned back because I felt faint, I hope it will fix that. At least when I cut wood I can sit down and rest, but that is not possible on a walk when everything is soggy at this time of year. I am lucky I have a doctor that will prescribe percocet to properly control pain. When she wrote the script, I told her, never mind the addiction issues, after using them for over 20 years addiction should be the least of my concerns. They work well as long as one doesn't take more than needed.

We dropped to 9c overnight which is not good for my tropical constitution. When I lived in Canberra it often got down to 0c but I was 50 years younger then and the blood still pumped to all parts of my body. Carol , when in doubt , blame the computer. Buff my brother often suffers from anemia with his ulcerative colitis. They rarely try to boost his blood because it gives him severe constipation, Ron.

12c and raining again....a shame for those who're having a coronation celebration BBQ but summer's on the way folks, plenty of time for that malarky........Buff (and Ron) it seems to me that age is accelerating at speed suddenly.I'm sure I felt better mentally and physically last year. Buff, your body is dictating your capabilities despite your brain being active. It's a bugger,I know, but there's nothing to be done about it.Do what you must, both of you,and don't feel guilty about taking it easy.Let's be honest, you've worked long and hard so accept you're getting old and decrepit both of you,and make the best of it.....I can say that because I'm the eldest on this thread.

Thankyou guys, and I'm not being smug but I am wearing well despite the moans......Buff I've just seen an article about wildfires in you west ? I hope they stay well away from you,it's just what you don't need.

It's 17c with fleeting light showers .I had to take my jacket off on our walk along the riverside.I wouldn't have worn it
except for the threat of showers but there's no shelter down there and running up the steep (ish) bank home for half a mile+ is not recommended......despite me wearing well...😜

5C Sunny. A little bit of fun goes a long ways. I also made progress on the woodpile and will have another go at it in the afternoon. While we still have a lot of snow in the bush, the fires in Alberta are concerning. Some of the worst fires come before the trees leaf out and green up. At this time of year forests dry out quickly when the sun reaches the forest floor drying out the leaf litter from last year. It burns like napalm, the risk is reduced once the trees green up.

Buff don't you ever get a break from cutting wood ? I understand the financial side of it but it must be tiring having to constantly be on top of things....I had a text from my Doc.yesterday saying my test results of last week were "satisfactory" and no further appointments are necessary "....that's my general health of course and not the crohns, but I'm happy with that.....It's a warm 16c today but heavy showers means still having to wear a jacket..
RON, are you ok mate ?

17C Sunny, Carol it never ends, our winters are long, the heating season runs from late September to June. The house is well insulated, but I like a warm house. I don't have the financial means to heat with fuel, and the government is making it worse with their recessive carbon tax. Governments and big corporations have made climate change very profitable, but I have doubts about it, and just what amounts to normal warming vs that of man made. I don't care for the hard work, and its worse when I get light headed from low iron levels, but I have little choice unless I move to some place warmer like Mexico, which is looking like a better alternative as time goes on.

I'm ok Carol. The telco that I am with has had some serious troubles in the last week. they tried to update the system and it failed. A lot of folks have been without phone coverage and they have only just fixed the problem. I was getting no notifications and my in box had nothing in it this morning. I have the log in for the site saved and it worked fine when I tried to log in a few minutes ago. we have had a cold snap but it is starting to warm up and we are getting some showers. Glad your tests were satisfactory. Ron.

overcast 16c with some sunshine with wind making it feel cooler , well it could be worse , it could be 20c and we would all be complaining that its too hot , at least the weather gives us something to talk about here in Ireland , never the same .

I 'm one of the weather whingers Tony...I like the dry cooler days but anything over 15c is a no-no for me.I try NOT to moan because a lot of folk need and love the summer and let's be honest it flies by..It's 14c and Sunny today but feels warmer. At least I'm getting some of Les's heavy winter stuff dried outdoors, keeping an eye out for showers that are forecast.

15C and rising sunny. It went up to 22C and the snow sure melts fast. The rivers are high, and the summer parking spot is almost passable now. I made good headway on the firewood effort over the past few days. I need to get the bulk of it cut and split before the blackflies come out. Once these biting flies emerge its difficult to get anything done outside, its then a good time to clean house.

Still having problems with my internet. They were unable to help me yesterday and said they would call me back. I was not able to login to my emails . I did some work on my own and although it is not fixed i am able to receive my emails. basically i login to my mail with a username and pass word. It then gives me a message saying sorry we are unable to log you on. I found that if I waited a few minutes it logged me on regardless. Cool 23c and windy ,more showers expected .Ron.

Sometimes I wish I'd never got into the web.I know its useful for those who want it but I could do without it,and will if this lap top packs in.So guys,if I'm AWOL for longer than a day or two, that's why. Or I've popped my clogs,,,,, It's a miserable day here .A cold 10c grey and drizzley...a cozy arvo with my book methinks

Life was better before internet, life was a lot slower and simpler. Back then we had party lines, there were 4 households or more to a line, at one point I shared the phone line with 8 others. Its was tedious at times, yet it was like glue that held the local community together tight knit. It went up to 25C yesterday, and today looks like another warm one.

If it was purely for socializing I probably would not even use the net but unfortunately it is the way that the way that government agencies and medical bodies choose to communicate with me so i really do need to have it working. They have not got in touch with me regarding my problem but my login has returned to the way it was before the problem so I guess the problem was at their end. Cold and raining this morning. My shoulders are getting worse by the day. Ron.

To be honest (ha) I lied to the medical people and told them I'm not on line or have a smart phone (which I don't) I had a real battle to get our scripts over the phone etc.but I will not be bulldozered into doing what THEY say I should. Our bank closed and we had to drive to the next town for a couple of years, now that one's closed so I've had to go through the faff of
registering for banking over the phone....my phone is bog standard so none of my details are on it....
Not a bad day here. The sun came out eventually and it's quite warmish except for the breeze off the sea .....again

6C Sunny. Cooler today, so I will work on the wood later on. One good thing about the internet is that I rarely use the postal system anymore other than to pick up packages. Paying bills through online banking on the laptop is easier than writing and mailing out checks. Email is blazingly fastcompared to the postal system. But if I were a younger man with a second chance at life, I would give up westernized living and head up north deep into the wilderness and live off of the land away from all the nonsense.

I feel like that when I watch Shawn James youtube channel Myselfreliance Buff though you really need to be fit and healthy, I could never do what he does.I had the same problem with banks Carol . Our branch shut down so I had to rely on internet banking. That is fine until something goes wrong and you need to speak to someone face to face. A cold wet and miserable mothers day here. Ron.

8C Sunny and warming up. Lots of people are going about on their ATVs buzzing back and forth on the roads, while my saw was howling away on the woodpile like that toddler in the row behind on the plane. Got a lot done, and want to do more today. The biting flies arrival can be measured in days as things warm up, my Nephew says that they are now very friendly and plentiful where he lives.

Buff we have plenty of flies but they are the friendly sort that don't bite , they just try to crawl in your mouth , nose and eyes. Poured rain all night and still raining this morning ,they forecast 5mm, we are getting tat every half hour. Ron.

15C Warm night, and with the warm weather of late the leaves are starting to push out on the bushes, and the trees will not be far behind. A sure sign the black flies are on their way, these do as you say Ron, but will bite everything even eyeballs. The sky is copper tone from the smoke of the fires to the west. Those replanted areas the loggers leave behind go up like napalm when compared to the indigenous forests.

Still raining this morning but nothing heavy. That sounds nasty Buff. I must admit that when I last fished up in the Northern territory I had to wear a hat net all the time to stop from chocking on the little sods and then there were the mosquitos . There were several varieties of them and they carried various diseases. The only repellant that worked was the stuff with a high concentration of deet. Ron.

Bright and sunny but still cool .I've worn a hat net while in Scotland between May-Sept. for the dratted midge (which the Scottish Tourist Board NEVER mention ) I've tried oil of citronella, good and Brewers Yeast tablets, fair, and Deet, better, but I don't think there's a remedy for your irritatingly annoying little buggers,Buff except to stay indoors and wait it out.
It's my Birthday today and I got a lovely ANNIVERSARY CARD from Les.hahaha He made better with cash though

Happy Birthday Carol, its always good to see another come around. Yesterday I saw the first leaves popping out from the early poplar trees, a sure sign the buggers are on their way. When its so bad one needs to put on a bug net on the head it means head indoors and do indoor activities. Its a good time of year to clean house, and its also a great time of year to go travel like last year. The only problem was that I traded our bugs for their bugs. Colder today, 3C and I'll cut wood later.

Genuine Carol, sometimes at our time and situation of life birthdays are a pleasant surprise and we should enjoy them for what they are, a precious resource. The rain has cleared for the time being, we finished up getting around 70mm over three days. I am finding that every time the season changes my health gets poorer. This year the transition into winter has been terrible with joint pain, neuropathy pain and my diabetes way out of whack. I've done nothing different ,it gets hard to understand.Ron.

Do you still have to bail out after heavy rain Ron ? and are the social people still keeping in touch and helping with stuff ?
Buff, have you got mesh on the windows so that you can at least have some summer breezes flowing through the house ?
I love to have the windows open on nice days and the worse I get in is the odd bee or wasp and one or two house flies....oh,and dust, but a quick flick sorts that out.....15c today but after a sunny morning it's now clouded over, but we've done what we needed to do and are just chilling out. Les will of course have a nap, one of many during the day

0C with frost this morning. Those pains Ron are simply old age. It gets worse each year, my right hand and arm hurts more each year and I have to try to ignore the pain when splitting rounds of wood with the axe, and after a couple of hours of it my entire body is finished for the day. Breaking the work down into manageable pieces through the year is the only way to get it done. Carol, screens are standard on all homes and buildings. All my windows have screens in good repair, and take care placing tape around the window airconditioner keeps them out. But we do get what are called Ceratopogonidae or commonly called no-see-ums that come through the screens and are enough to drive one crazy.

Yes Carol I still flood two to three times a year . I had no trouble this past week because the ground has been dry for a couple of months. Temps dropped to 9c overnight but it is bright and sunny today and should reach 22c. The social worker called yesterday Carol . She asked if I had heard anything from Myaged care. I said no ,nothing. She said she would check and give me a call. She rang back and said my name was still in the que for an updated assessment.Ron.

16c and grey I went to collect scripts for Les and to make an apt. with the doc for him.He has a couple of issues that are causing me worry. No appointments for the for-see-able..She advised me to call in person at the surgery at 8-30am as if I phone it's unlikely I'll get an answer !!! I'm usually up and about by 6am so all being well (ie guts) I will endeavour to haul myself up the road and get in the queue with the other ill and infirm.

7C Overcast. The icy winds were blowing inland from Lake Superior, being cold, damp and dense this unwanted guest can snake its way well inland. When we get a flow in at this time of year it can feel like the coldest, dampest, miserable airmass of the year, making January cold snaps feel like a summer breeze. I cut wood, and all I can say is that its coming along, I need this to be ready depending upon what the surgeon wants to do with me.

I read yesterday that Australia is sending around 250 firefighters and equipment to Canada in response to the wildfires. We have been warned here that we are in for a super Elnino and some record temps over the next couple of years. There is no mid line anymore we are either getting washed away or deep in drought. It is sunny and 22c today. Carol best of luck with your appointment. Ron.

4C showers gray. The fire situation to the west is grave. Its not the climate, temperatures and precipitationare spot on for the time of year. Rather its how the composition of the forests have changed over the last century from logging and silviculture. The forests (if one can call them that) today are different from the indigenous forests that stood before. The second and third growth are thinner which makes them dry out faster and are well ventilated. The clear cuts are replanted back entirely with softwoods which burn like napalm. In the past the fires moved much slower with less intensity as the indigenous forests were mixed conifers and deciduous species. These forests were very dense, thick and bio diverse. They held moisture during dry spells, and with their density air would be slower to feed any fires that would start and easier to put out.

The area to our immediate north was logged and replanted over the last 15 years, the way its growing back after replanting presents a huge ticking time bomb for the area, hopfully I will be gone when it lights up. Mother nature is getting back at mankind's greed, and I have no sympathy given the crime done to our once majestic forests.

Surely those who advocate the new planting make time to investigate the suitability of the trees going in ? I mean if they are going to burn easily they're going to lose money aren't they ? And what's silviculture Buff ? I could look it up but you'll do it better.....17c with fret (fog) rolling in off the sea earlier. But the sun burned it off eventually and it's a nice day.

Perfect day ,23c ,9c overnight and sunny all day. My diabetes figures are way to high. I take 1500mg of metformin at night and in the morning I take 25mg of jardiance and 30mg of gliclazide. I have to take care with gliclazide because when I was first put on it I was taking 60mg and by early afternoon my blood sugars would drop as low as 1.2 which is a hypo and I would have to eat some honey. My usual b/s level at night is 5.2-5.9 . This past month I have been going to bed with b/s of 8-8.5. This last week I tried upping my dose to 60mg. I was still at 8. My morning fasting level has gone from 6-7 to 8.5 to 10. I fear that I may soon be injecting insulin every day. I was first diagnosed 45 years ago so it has taken some time to finally wear my pancreas out. Ron.

15C sunny, finally a warmer day closer to seasonal, its a long weekend, the nephew and his family are having a great time at the lake. Carol, silviculture refers to tree farming; how to grow a faster and better tree for the forest industry than can mother nature. Tree planting is just that, but the industry promotes itself as stewards of the forest and people take it hook, line, sinker, and well the boat too. Canada ranks third only behind China and Russia for the volume of wood cut each each year. Ron at this point in life many of us are trapped by our bodies, life has become more of an existence than actual living, and the uncertainty does not help.

Cool but sunny today. Woke up early and only just made it to the loo in time to avoid an accident.Same an hour later. I have taken my questran. I've lost nearly 15 kilos and it's getting harder to eat. Doctors appointments are hard to get. I've booked into mine early next monthRon.

18c and a lovely day, but this is as high a temp that suits me thankyou very much.....you know what I miss the most.....having a laugh !!!! it's really difficult to smile most days eh ? what a miserable existence old age is. I'm really not that way naturally, I'll talk to anybody on the street if they want a chat ,king or vagabond, but they're fed up as well and it just makes me more depressed.....I need chocolate !!!!

5C cooler again. Yesterday was a nice day in the low 20's and the leaves are popping out on the trees. The bridge is flooded out again preventing access to the cabin. I don't have anytime for it, and putting all my efforts into cutting firewood not knowing what will come out from the tests. I have an upper endoscope in the first week of June to see how the inflammation is doing with the proton pump inhibitor. Its been slightly better of late.

99° F at 4pm in the USA, Arizona.

I need to find a Hospital and healthcare system in the upper 48 States of the USA that can provide me qualified care for my Crohn's Disease. Please send link to me about the Hospital / healthcare system. Thank You for listening.
Hope you are all hanging in there and feeling the best you can feel. 🙏
Nice to see you again L.L. I'm sorry I can't help with your request me being in the UK but I'm sure someone will be able to soon,,,how about opening a new thread ?

15C Been good weather for cutting wood as it went up to 18C yesterday under partly cloudy smokey skies. My wrist hurts so bad of late that starting a chainsaw is very painful and I can barely hold onto the thing while pulling the rope. Same thing with my thumb when trying to pick up and hold things. Going to call the clinic and see where things are going for the appointment.

Another cool but sunny day. That's not good Buff It is one of the reasons I retired ,picking up machines with one hand was going to result in a disaster one day . I have no feeling in my left hand except for my thumb which hurts all the time. Ron.

18c and bright and sunny ........Buff how will you manage wood cutting ? Have you tried to strap it with an elastic bandage ?
Ron and I could pop over and help out if you're struggling....err maybe not, but the offers there if you're desperate

Frost this morning, a cool dry day coming up. Got nothing done on the wood pile due to rain. The wrist is an emerging issue I have not had to deal with before, but the last couple of weeks its becoming problematic. The clinic told me its a hand related issue that is not covered by the public healthcare system, but they are trying to get me into the rehab clinic to see what they can do with it. If they don't speed things up, I'll just pay out of pocket. Our public healthcare is full of holes on what is covered and what is not and extremely expensive when taking into consideration the taxes we are forced to pay.

Another cool but sunny day, we have another cold front coning thru on the weekend. I get by thanks Carol. That's not just a problem in Canada Buff. When I was in the middle of chemotherapy and literally dying of cancer I asked the government for some welfare help because I could not work. They told me I could not get welfare because cancer was considered a short term illness. Ron.

I'm absolutely shocked Ron.....Our NHS is going down the pan but hells bells.....It's a good job you're tough, you have to be eh?

Off to a good start at 18c with plenty sunshine but has clouded over now.....
in my mind i'm still 24, but my back is 55,my knee is 67,and my left hip turns 77 next week
as for the rest of me .....there's not enough room on here to fit it all in.

I came home from a supply run and meds. Stepped into the house and all at once the power went out on a nice day. With the coolers still full of food I got the generator going first before settling in. Generator got a good run for over 6 hrs. No news about the accident, but it must have been a good one when three townships are blacked out. Carol it does not bode well for our healthcare system when our Prime minister was bragging about how he plans to mirror our healthcare off of your NHS system.

The cold front arrived overnight with strong winds. We have a term in Australia for the winter westerlies, the lazy winds, they don't go around you they blow straight thru you. Carol my left hip and right shoulder are around 150. Ron.

13c and cloudy after early sunshine....it's another holiday weekend, the 3rd this month, and they say it's going to be the biggest getaway since before covid,,,,,of course flights are being cancelled and the roads will be stupid as it's forecast to be in the 20s......me and the old man will walk over to the park and sit under the trees to listen to the birds.....that's if we can hear them above the dulcet sounds of screeching kids that is....

Finally some warmer weather. Its in the 20's and one can smell the spicy notes of the pine trees. The iron pills are kicking in and have boosted my energy levels, I got chores done for a change around the yard and the wood pile looks promising. Its a matter of days now before the black flies emerge, and its with hope we get a good dry spell that will help quash the miserable insects. Ticks are very friendly and plentiful this year, I picked one off my nostril yesterday.

Cool start but the sun is shining and apart from the winds it is not too bad. My blood sugars are still all over the place. I can't get into the doctors till early next month to see what is going on. Ron.
