What is YOUR weather like today??

Looks like another dandy summer day coming up, I moved one load yesterday and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in the sun. It hurts when the weather turns for the worse, at this time of year summer is limited, for Tony summer might be done, we are next so enjoy it. Carol, I have to agree, but I am not so sure about the potty thing when living on the bag. Good thing for the outhouse, no need to elaborate. 14C sunny.

Yeah enjoy every day if you can , had the most enjoyable day yesterday getting a root canal ,by a student dentist ,only way I can afford it ,
Wet day today 10C

A cold wind with short sharp showers ...a quick bus ride to the shops and back within the hour.
I had a dental apt. for mid Nov. but got a txt asking me to re-book,so now it's Dec. and I broke a tooth the other day
which feels like a sink hole, but was told I could phone in IF it gives me trouble and they'll TRY to fit me in.My dentist is only doind 2 days a week but listening to the blub on the phone it seems that A COMPANY has taken over and they now do private work as well as NHS...I've been a patient since 1990 and they've had plenty of cash from me but because I'm, OLD I'm deemed fit to wait because they know how difficult it is to get in with another surgery and it's the only one in this town.I'm going to look on Amazon to see if
I can get a temporary filling kit, just in case.......rant over

I only go to the dentist if it hurts. I used to go regularly, and my teeth constantly crumbled, and hurt. As the cost of living outstripped income I simply stopped going and my teeth stopped crumbling and hurting. The cleaning only served to speed up tooth erosion. Remicade, cipro and Aza made my teeth go black. Now that I have been off the meds, for years now my teeth have been stable and fairly good color. I can bite with them, even though the dentist was surprised by the number of dead teeth that pose no issues. I just make sure to use mouth wash after each meal, and brush well before bed time. Maybe it was the Scotch, but I stopped drinking Scotch after the operation in May, so I will see what happens as time goes on.
Summer goes on, expecting a high in the mid 20's.

Nice day here today 16C and sunny ,
That's crazy you have to wait that long for a dentist Carol , I could always get an appointment with my dentist within a day or two if needed ,the problem is cost ,
I was lucky there's a dental school only about 20 miles away and if you're will to be a patient 😤 for a student you get the work done at a fraction of the cost ,
I need 5 crowns two bridges and 2 root canals , privately this would cost me around €12000, in the dental hospital it's 3000 so worth the extra time it will take , its well supervised so no worrys there ,
Knowing my luck I'll kick the bucket after it's done but I'll be a handsome corpse with a lovely smile 😙.

HaHaHA.....typical Irishman

A really cold start early on but turned out nice....got the bus down to the weekend market ,only three stops but it does help a bit.'
Had a quick look round but too many people so only stayed a short while, long enough for me to buy ANOTHER book by my fave crime author (2nd one this week) then had a sloooow walk home with a sit in the park on the way.

It was hot by summer standards yesterday, I had to go in for supplies and an appt to have a cv joint replaced in the driveshaft of the truck. I waited in the mall and had a burger and an ice tea for $14 lousy dollars, highway robbery, the repair bill look small by comparison. Came home and sat out on the deck enjoying the weather. By mid week reality is returning with temps back to normal. I recall at one time having my teeth cleaned at the college dentist program. It took them forever for the cleaning and the young hands were rough from inexperience. I only go to the dentist if I really have to which has been for well over ten years.

That's a lot of money for iced tea , hope it was good , and it's nice to have a treat every now and then , but I felt your pain ,
It's a crazy world we live in where if you just want a coffee or tea you are given so many choices at really high prices

The coffee shops here are highway robbery, but one would not know it for the traffic coming and going from those places. One can make coffee at home for a fraction of the cost. Yesterday I put the new wood splitter to work, and was surprised at what it could do, its slower, quiet but it gets the job done. Its not at all like the machinery I worked with when I was young that ran fast, noisy and had no safety features at the local sawmills.
12 C change is in the air.

That oldie sounds like the chopping machine my darling fiance/husband encouraged me to use back in the day....love knows no bounds.....13c and raining now at 5-30pm...hospital tomorrow with Les for his prostate blood tests.Taxi booked and shopping list written for afterwards....weather permitting. It's not urgent

There is a definite chill in the air this morning with a stiff breeze blowing, can you claim the firewood that landed in your yard from your neighbor's tree Tony? I'll be working on the firewood effort, I want a couple of extra rows of wood on the pile as I expect that back order from mother nature that failed to deliver last winter. 8C

wet and miserable but one apt.done....Thurs.Covid and flu jabs. Hope the broad band is up and running Tony....personally,I'm not a fan of the internet and will not have a smart phone BUT I have ordered an emergency tooth filler from Amazon hahaha
form an orderly queue guys.

Hey Carol , opposite here today and its lovely ,17C and sunny ,
Our budget was today and got some nice cost of living cash bumps ,
Are uk pensioners really being denied winter fuel ? Or are they just not giving it to people with plenty of money , our fuel allowance is means tested and we get about €1000 for winter fuel as well as electricity credits 🤔

There's some too-ing and fro-ing at the moment Tony......you can get pension credit even if you have 15 grand in the bank buy are on a basic pension, then you're eligible for it, but many old folk don't apply for it.....There's a budget later this month so we'll find out. It's disgraceful when many oldies die of the cold during winter...the House of Lords posh old foggies get £3oo a day just for turning up,get a subsidised lunch and booze then sleep it off while important stuff is being discussed...... they should hang their heads in shame, but they think it's their due so they won't......bring back the birch I say

We get a few crumbs back in terms of tax credits, but then they claw it all back and then some in taxes. We get nothing for home heating but rather taxed for it. Well over half the cost of fuel are taxes. The only social safety net is burning firewood, and that provides the funds needed for food. I got quite a bit done yesterday and feel confident about the coming winter.
7C gray with a passing shower.

Good to hear you're sorted Buff ,it's far better than panic-ing at the last minute eh?
It's been a nice day here today, 14c and sunny .Les pottered out the back sorting plants and clearing rubbish before it
gets too cold and wet,and I did an awful lot off faffing indoors, ,if there was a prize for it I'd be the winner.
Going for our covid/flu jabs tomorrow, a bus ride away along the coast ,a 15 min ride,so not far and free with our bus passes,
though there's a chance they'll take them too. They're saying the last Government left them with a billions of £s back-log so the old folk are being robbed 'cos they're no use to the country now . They were happy to take our taxes etc. for 50yrs+.....who started this conversation ??? it wasn't me hahaha

I could go on about politics too, but as they say its unhealthy, but so is holding it all in. Its better to let it all air out. I got the phone call that my ostomy hernia belt is ready, so I'll get it next week. Hopefully I can lift more than just a piece of wood and a chainsaw, I still have the airconditioner to pull from the window. I used to store it away, but for years all I do is lift it from the window and place it on the table below, where it can sit there till next summer, its too heavy to move anywhere. Funny how these things get heavier all by themselves every year.

Hope all goes well for you Buff!!! 79 degrees and beautiful today, helps too that it's the last day of our weekend!!! Anymore, the closer it gets to fall it usually will be rainy on our weekend. Got to enjoy it while we have it!!!

Also, today is injection day for me. First time doing it on my own at home. Just warming up the medication now and getting stuff ready to go...

Yeah Carol the conservatives really seem to have feathered their rich friends nests as usual and the Labour Party have to do the dirty work to sort it out ,
Still can't believe the UK left the EU ,I really think ye would be better off in rather than out ,
Hope the hernia belt gives you some security Bufford, I have mine on most of the time and it works really well, hope you got one with the whole for the bag

The injections are easy enough to do yourself once you get used to it , hope it goes well 🤗

14c,sunny and calm.......Helped Les finish off out the back....still a bit to do but some of the plants are still flowering
;;;;Scott's back home in Aus. after his trip to Thailand....he wasn't overly impressed, and he said there were lots of Russians there
on holiday...not invading
and they weren't very nice. also him and his wife both got a bad case of Delhi belly and there was a landslide behind their
hotel which killed some people so they were glad to be home.....no place like home eh?

It was -2C this morning, I put the fire on last night after a long day of it yesterday getting supplies. A nice day coming up with the bright warm sunshine. I'll have to decide do I move wood or cut n split more wood. I think I have enough now for the winter. Tony the belt has the hole measured for the size of the bag I use and fitted for my body. I am looking forward to it, perhaps I can get back into the canoe again. Glad the weather has warmed up X stitch gal, the long term forecast looks warm and dry here too, I am a winter person, but now I am not ready for winter, and may not want the snow given how limited my lifting ability is at the moment.

Injection went well yesterday. However, found out that injection day I probably shouldn't do any strenuous work after having one! Ended finishing some laundry & was outside helping my husband trimming back the grapes. A little sore after that. Oops!!!

Very wet & rainy October day today!!! Much different than yesterday, about 45 degrees right now.

Another nice day,14c and a cloudless blue sky.....we were very very lucky as we walked into town....a bleeding nutter came around the corner opposite on a motorbike (a big powerful beast) reved up then went on it's side and screeched along the tarmac at a heck of a speed, spraying fuel. We were dead opposite on a narrow street and usually we'd be on that side but couldn't cross for heavy traffic...Scarey !!!! then not 10mins later two idiots went past on trail bikes doing wheelies !!! all this on a 20mph street....glad to get home I tell you....If I still drank alcohol I would have had a double....or two

Do you ever have a day where you have NOTHING to do Buff ? and I don't mean when you just sit thinking about what you SHOULD be getting on with.....have a peaceful Sunday my friends, I am. We're practicing for the winter days ahead and just sitting here picking the fluff out of our navels......not each others.

Its wet and cold, so I don't think I will do much Carol, I will service the oil furnace this afternoon, but that will be it. Yesterday I got a lot done with the wood effort yesterday, taking advantage of the dry conditions while they lasted. From lunch until supper I like to do things, but mornings all I do is faff them away reading the news and things on the laptop, while waiting for that trip to the outhouse to happen.

Sure wish I could do nothing!!! Gotta go into work today for an 8 hour shift.

But, biggest thing I've been doing lately is getting some cards together with the scents and names of the solid perfumes I make for coworkers and friends. Plus, am getting ready for all that solid perfume I'll be making for Christmas since time is starting to get close for me to start cooking. But, this is actually a hobby of mine and I enjoy doing it!! So, if I can settle down to do all this I'd be happy when I get time to do it!!!

16c with a few short showers. We had a nice walk earlier, but as usual we were glad to get home....I did a bit of unplanned faffing this morning
involving step ladders with Les hovering "in case I fell " which really helped....NOT

The weather is nice today after the mess yesterday, it gave me a chance to rest up, but I did the oil furnace. I will pick up a new nozzle for it when I go in for supplies, as the old one has a lot of time on it, but good for a spare if needed. I am going to have to remember to call my sister, as its her birthday.

Nice enough today rain sent your way Carol 🌧 , mostly sunny 17C , but when the sun goes in big drop in temps ,hope everyone is doing OK, I'm creaking a bit , but like my old uncle John , a creaking door makes a lot of noise but seldom falls 😀

-2C with a heavy frost, the aurora put on a good show last night, they were bright enough that I could see without a flashlight. It was chilly this morning and the cat and I cuddled up in bed and I got a good sleep for a change. I feel the same way Tony, that surgery took a lot out of me, the body is just not the same anymore. At least it starts and runs.

Same as yesterday 12c and raining. The damp must be seeping into my bones as I feel like somebody has set about me with a baseball bat so after lunch I'm not moving off this chair until bed time...except for bathroom visits of course,

I got the ostomy hernia belt yesterday. Its something to get used to, but it should improve with use. I find it comfortable when standing and doing things. It gives me confidence when lifting, but its uncomfortable when siting especially while driving. I'll give it a go this afternoon with the chores.
-3C this morning, a sunny day coming up.

I feel your pain Bufford , hopefully we'll get back with the energy levels ,
my first op took a good eight months to recover from but I was really on deaths door before it ,so we'll be raring to go for the new year ,
I am napping more in the afternoons though ,no nap today was back in with my Canadian dental student ,its cheaper but it takes a while ,
Hope anyone down Florida way is safe and hunkered down ,looks like it's gonna be a bad one .

showers this morning but nice and sunny now, if a decidedly noticeable drop in temps....
bad news for Florida....it must be awful to have to leave your home not knowing if it will be still be there
when you return....there's been lots of floods locally due to two days of heavy rain...drains blocked with fallen leaves don't help.

I was the same Tony, I was hours away from death due to infection at the time of my first surgery which complicated the recovery process, and the second one this year was a breeze if it were not for aging, slowing the healing process, and now the hernia.
If it were not for the storms, Florida would be the ideal place to live in so many ways, but no place is perfect. I have no strength left to make a move, so I will continue to deal with the cold winters, the wild fires and the sky high cost of living found here until the grave, otherwise if I was younger, hey it would be great to try something new and fresh. The idea of not having to constantly feed a furnace wood is appealing. There is a price war going on for fuel, so I'll be taking advantage of it, and maybe a treat for supper.

A bright sunny day but cooler and just the way I like it....Buff,I'm of the same mind as regards moving house.
I'm very organised and efficient but I just couldn't muster the energy now...unless I won the lottery and I could just sit back and
let someone do it all.....I think you have to buy something called a lottery ticket first and pick numbers or something, and I don't even have the energy for that today........forgot to mention we had a walk into town earlier and I couldn't beleive my eyes...... they're putting the Xmas lights up in the town square !!!!!

I went in and got a good price on gasoline and filled the jerry cans so I am good for awhile, but I will have to return at some point for furnace oil. The traffic was terrible, with traffic gridlocked for blocks, with most traffic lights broken. They promised to synchronize the antiquated traffic lights years ago, but many just sit on red for no traffic. It got my afib going, and I had to lay down and rest after getting home. We had another good display of the northern lights last night, a strange night as temperatures rose to 16C at 3am. Its still warm, but the north wind is picking up.

Gone cold over here ,had to give in and put on the heating over night ,sunny during the day and around 10C but around 2/4C at night ,heating oil is expensive 93c /litre that's around $3.50 us gallon , but way down from about 130c two years ago
Hope everyone is doing OK

That is a bargain Tony, They advertised furnace oil at the reserve for $1.24 liter by pumping it myself, it costs a lot more to have it delivered. Last year I paid $1.44. No break for the people, the federal government will ratchet up the carbon tax again next year. That carbon tax is about inflicting as much financial pain as possible to break the average person. They have succeeded, many on low income and seniors sit it dark cold homes throughout the winter which is why I am forced to burn wood. On the upside, our prime minister is still stumped as to why his party is now the most unpopular in Canada while he constantly flies around the world on the public dime sunning himself in front of the news cameras and lights.
I finally got the courage to lift the heavy airconditioner out of the window, it went well, I simply set it on the table beside the window until next summer. There is no way I could carry it over to the closet. 0C overcast. Back to the wood effort later.

At least the choice ye have is better than south of the border , forgot to say the student dentist I have is 🇨🇦 there's at least 3 of them there studying,
How's the belt working out ?

I moved another two more loads of wood, the belt helps Tony, my internals have more or less returned to where they should be and for that there is less aching pain. I only wear it when I am active, but its uncomfortable for sitting any length of time, too much pressure on the gut when sitting. I'd have to totally disagree with saying the choices here are better than south of the border. On my income I could live like a King in the USA, its probably still the best country to live in the world despite their issues. Its one of the few places where government is not constantly controlling people's lives. We were once quite free like the Americans, but no more.
2C Gray. Fish n Chips tonight.

Supposedly it's supposed to rain this evening 69 today and 58 tonight. But, if so it's sure sunny right now!!! Who knows what our dart board will come up with!!! 😂

Been seeing some blood lately and yesterday wiped it. Today I'm wiping blood too, which is pretty frustrating. Oh the wonders of premenopause, gotta love it!!! At least I haven't had the pain or the frequent runs like I did before. For that I can be thankful!

Its been a slow day, the weather is keeping me inside for the first time in several weeks. 3C with drizzle which stopped later, but not inviting to go outside when everything is dripping wet. I have a chicken breast marinating that I will have for Thanksgiving dinner. I watched the Europa Clipper launch this morning, it went up perfectly. But I doubt I will be around when it studies the oceanic moon of Jupiter in the 2030's.

Dull day here 10C with a nasty wind ,
Love watching spacecraft launch , always been a big sci fi fan ,
Don't know about you Bufford but my surgeon told me I'm good for another 20 years and if he's lying I'm coming back for him ,
I bet we'll both be watching images from the Clipper in the 2030's 🚀
Hey Carol ,hey ✝️🪡👧

Finally a good night's sleep without the pains, feeling rested for once. The skies have cleared, but its chilly with a dusting of snow on the ground -3C. Its a reminder that the snows are not far off, and I must finish up the wood pile. That's great Tony, my surgeon told me that I maybe coming back sooner, but said to her 'naw, I my now late surgeon told me I'd be coming back too, but I out survived him, so it might be awhile'.

Great that you got a good night's sleep Bufford, since my doc put me on Seroquel @25mg at night I'm sleeping like a baby , maybe even too much but being honest i earned a few extra hours in bed for all the nights I spent in pain in the toilet .

-3C clear and calm. I made a big breakfast this morning, bacon, eggs and a couple of pancakes. I'll be on the wood pile this afternoon, might as well take advantage of the good weather while it lasts. A good night's sleep is a fleeting thing for us chronies, some of those nights in the toilet are like experiences of war. Like I mean the bombing of the toilet, and the associated collateral damage cleaning up, even worse when it goes beyond the fringe area. Then afterwards trying to get some rest. Getting good sleep is winning a round, and not easy given the odds.

Well despite yesterdays forecast for today it's a 16c warm sunny morning with not a breathe of wind,
it may turn nasty later though,so we'll have a walk to the park while the goings good

Heavy rain and just feels cold , 10C ,I was dragged shopping this morning and came home with a much lighter wallet 😿
And don't you love...hahaha I bet most of it was for you,I know for a fact Les costs more to feed than me,despite cooking all his meals from scratch...(at 6 in the morning )...there's a storm heading your way over the Atlantic, gets to us on Sunday

Not even a pair of socks 😒 and I do all the cooking as well from scratch but being honest she does all the heavy stuff nowadays , so can't really complain ,
Got her an early birthday present last week ,
A powerful leaf blower ,

And she actually is delighted with it 😍

Les was a landscape gardener before all his little health problems and we had all the gear.He loved his blower especially.
It's a good time of year for your dear lady to get waffing. We've been shopping today and I bought him some winter undercrackers and a fur lined hoody.....but I did get meself a couple of pairs of PJs so won't begrudge him.
12c and sunny, but feels warmer....has the storm off the Atlantic reached you yet ?

No storm yet Carol , really lovely today mostly sunny with a few heavy showers 15C ,storm due to hit tomorrow and with big tides at the moment should be a lot of flooding, kept busy today ,minding another dog (Bernaise ) , wife is a soft touch and love the dog ,but some people take advantage of this ,minding a, dog for 10 days but they gave us a shopping voucher for €60 ,woohoo,
Really need to teach her to say no can't do it .

Went in for stoma maintenance, and the nurse I see seemed inside a world of her own, she just slapped down a new appliance and rushed away. Not her usual talkative self, so who knows. It gave me more time to browse in the store. I treated myself to a new winter jacket, nice and supple, something lighter than the standard work gear I don in winter. The weather was summer like, this has got to be the latest in the season wearing summer clothes. Its wet today, but not cold for the time of year 10C

Thing is Tony once you say Yes that's it.You can only say No to people you don't much like, and when they ask why ? you reply with "I don't have to tell you why,"...You could get a T-shirt with a slogan on but as people have a knack of taking us unawares, you'd have to wear it 24/7

12c wet and windy....not many passers by but the two dog walkers I've seen were wearing shorts !!!
maybe they want to keep the long 'uns dry or they maybe they're from Buffs neck of the world and think it's summer.

The extended summer weather continues, its sunny this morning and warming up. Its clear that is its fall by the sounds of gunshots off in the distance, and chainsaws whining away like toddlers in the rows behind on the plane. My wood effort is pretty much finished, but I will keep going for the next season. 8C

I have no problem saying no but the boss is a soft touch , she really loves the dog and would hate to see him in kennels ,
Anyway it's wild here today constant 50mph winds and 60/65 mph gusts , no trees down yet but the wind is blowing away from the house so that's good , hope ye escape it Carol .

Here's a photo of the big baby, sitting on top of my foot as I'm trying to eat😄

Sounds like my Husband with our chickens! For the most part he loves them and we treat them like the kids we never had. Ours are pretty old and are surprised that their still going strong, but are losing their feathers right now for the year. But, drive us nuts most of the year with their singing and fighting in the nest!!!

It's supposed to be 71 degrees today and is beautiful right now. But, supposedly will start raining again later today.

He's a smasher and I would have him....and I think you're kidding that you're not fussy about dog sitting you just like a whinge..wink

I love chooks C-sg,I find them very relaxing, but then,I don't have to live with them..Do you need to knit little sweaters for them in the cold weather ?.....hope you're keeping well

Just for that here's a photo of the two of them ,just Louis and Ellie ,everything is crossed at the moment as Ellie is due to go into season in the next few weeks , hopefully he'll be back home by then ,hope ye survived the storm without damage ,

They look like they've had a good walk ,just the way I like them.Lifes not the same without my dogs,I miss them so much. It's not natural not sharing life with them

Oops, almost forgot. The storm missed us yesterday as we didn't go out, lots of leaves down......today is nice,15c sunny and a gentle breeze.Warm nights and it looks much the same all week

You looks to be in good company Tony, nothing like a good pet with their unconditional love. The good weather continues, and just maybe a bit too good. I was surprised when my neighbor came up to get some water. Their well is drying up. Its not the best well, but its never failed over the years. Last winter we received very little snow, so its with hope we get the snows, but not too much of a good thing.

A nice sunny day at 14c..we had to trail up to the hospital to pick up one of my scripts.....the brand of mesalazine i've been using for years have stopped manufacturing but nobody thought to warm the patients who depend on it even though I requested a repeat
over two weeks ago. There's always something eh? But not to worry, the Govnt have a 10yr plan to make things better hahaha I can't wait....

Ah feck that's a nuisance , patients are always the last the know ,
I was on salazopyrin for donkeys years the mesasalazine never suited me ,
Hopefully there's an alternative for you ,
Lovely here ,mostly sunny and about 15C

12C almost summer like, with a thunderstorm last night. I woke up to a fridge that is warm and constantly running, the last thing I need. It appears frosted up, hopefully defrosting it will solve the problem, if not it could be a bit of a hunt to figure it out, these new fridges do not have the familiar mechanical parts such as the clock that usually is the problem when it no longer cycles between run and defrost. I managed to tarp over the winter woodpile until my body said no more for the day.

Hey Bufford there's normally a drain at the back of the fridge ,it got clogged in our and did not run properly ,I got a bendy piece of wire and ran it through the hole and its running well since ,
I also didn't close the freezer door properly and the whole section expanded with ice and had to do a full defrost to clear it ,
Hot containers of water speed up the process ,but my wife just goes at it with a sharp knife ,
Can't believe she hasn't punctured into the gas pipes yet

I noticed ice in the tube last night using a flashlight. I had the same issues with the old fridge, the first time defrosting worked, the second time years later I had to replace the timer (clock), but the new fridges no longer use mechanical clocks, and one must replace the control board; if that's the case it will be a learning curve or a new fridge.

Yesterday was pretty scary at one point going into work with the rain coming down hard!! Weather was weird with coming down so hard and then dropping down to pretty much nothing, But, today is beautiful and 62 degrees. Too bad I have to go into work!!! Thank goodness today is my Friday though!!!

No, we don't knit little sweaters for our Chickens. Only one looks half naked right now, although all are still dropping feathers. Husband is collecting the bigger feathers for the daughter of our leaders from our Church community group (bible study group). She's loving those feathers and puts down her X-Box controller for them.

Health is alright for the most part. Once in awhile though premenopause makes it seem like I'm about to flare. Even though, it only lasts a few days thank goodness!!!!

0C partly cloudy. There was a dusting of snow on the deck earlier this morning, a stark contrast to yesterday when the temperature reached 20C under partly cloudy skies. I wasted half the day taking apart the fridge and thawing out the coil which was basically a block of ice with a hair dryer. It seems to be running okay now, but if it frosts up again I'll have to go deeper as to why its not going into the defrost cycle. Working on one's hands and knees is not easy on my brittle body, but when I was younger, this kind of work I did frequently on the job and never gave it a thought when the body was resilient.

It's been nice the last few days, although it's been chilly. Today is back to the normal rainy weather 64 and 52 tonight. Guess I can't complain since at least it was fairly nice during our weekend and a little nasty during our work week!!!

Wednesday we put some new tires onto my vehicle and then we found on Thursday that one of the tires is leaking air. Husband took mine to work instead of me so he could put more air if needed. Thankfully we have some winter tires on hand, so put one on last night till we can have the bad one looked at on Tuesday!!!

Otherwise, all is fine here just stressful. Work is already gearing towards the Christmas season and it shows!!!

I picked up a load of furnace oil and topped up the tank after taking the truck in for its annual rustproofing. The price was $1.35 per liter, the cheapest in years, but still highway robbery with all the taxes. What I could not get into the tank, is stored in the shed. The mornings are getting dark and paltry, next weekend the clocks go back, brighter mornings and a longer evening with the earlier sunsets. Lots of houses are decorated for Halloween, and I picked up some halloween chocolates to indulge on myself.

That's still cheaper than here , our is €0.93@ ltr which = $1.42 Canadian but we pensioners here in Ireland we're getting about $1450 a year from the government to help with fuel and this year we're getting about another 1000 to help with cost of living increases .
I'll be glad when halloween is over ,
Too Americanised now , when we were young there was no trick or treating, it was all in the home where people just played games and told stories and not a sweet in sight apart from toffee apples ,
Simpler times

I used to hollow out a turnip lantern for Scott (50yrs ago) with an old wax candle stum to light his way,and him and his mates were back and forwards for a light..... until 7pm !!!.No such thing as trick or treating, they were happy with a toffee apple....Our fuel help is £300 but some pensioners are being barred due to having savings etc....this is due to the new gov. being left in the sh*t financially from the Tory's (allegedly)
)...the house of Lords get £300 each just for signing in,having a snooze and subsidised quality food and drink !!!!

We get little help from the government, an small old age supplement which is enough for one month's worth of basic grocery's out of the year. Some stores offer senior discounts, but that is about it. Halloween is very different over here, people put up elaborate halloween displays, the kids dress up in all kinds of costumes and have a great time of it. As a kid I remember the pumpkin carvings, baking pumpkin seeds, and the long night of trick or treating, filling pillowcases full of candies. Knocking on doors yelling "Shell out shell out the witches are out". We had a lot of fun and creativity. In the rural area not much goes on, folks would go into town to enjoy the festivities. With a bit of make up, I would make for a good Warlock.

When we were kids, Mom or Dad would walk us through the neighborhood to trick or treat. Then, once we were home we dumped everything we got onto the tables so the folks could check them over to make sure everything was alright before we were allowed to eat anything. Since my husband and I got married, we for the most part don't stay home if we don't have to & go out somewhere if we're not working rather than handing out candy.

Last night the rain really dumped down while we were trying to sleep. Today isn't much better along with supposed lightning and is down to 57 degrees.

It's a lovely day,16c calm and sunny, had a walk into town for veg and bread and as usual happy to be home.
There's not many little kids in the area so I'm not expecting little visitors on Thursday,it's the older kids that make things unpleasant these days so I won't be opening the door except with a bucket of cold water to hand....I'm the same with so called carol singers....
you get one line of "we three kings" then the hands are stuck out for a decent reward....hahaha...not a chance

We're lucky ,we have high gates and walls so they are locked early on halloween 🎃,
Bah Humbug (Victor Meldrew rules),
