What is YOUR weather like today??

I'm hoping it will stay warm as I'm going to release 3 hoggies into the garden. Not sure they'll run off and hibernate in this warm climate though. I will mark them with nail varnish and say prayers for them. Hope they come back for food and visit me. Actually got bitten by one last night. Was my tiny tot one who's staying with me the whole winter.

dull and wet. Feeling slightly better. thanks all.

I must be getting old but I am starting to feel like the Grinch .. It isn't even here yet and I am so over Christmas. It is Hot and there are mad people running around everywhere and I haven't noticed much peace or goodwill in my recent travels. Expecting some rain showers or storms tomorrow, forecaster having an each way bet I think and warm and steamy with it... Ron......................

12c cloudy.I've been "over" the festivities since Scott moved to Aus.15yrs ago.We don't do it at all.No decs.,no pressies and no turkey dinner. it's just another day for us,and we're very happy about it.I remember Xmas in Aus.well,it was a bleeding nightmare,if you don't mind me saying so Ron.But each to his own.All I've heard so far, apart from xmas songs on a loop since Nov.,is people whining about it all.The expense, the extra work, the crowds, unwanted folk coming for lunch, etc etc. They can't wait for it to be over.hahaha.

I have a tradition for Christmas. I try not to see or speak to another living soul. For many of the last half dozen Christmas days I have actually gone to work. I have plenty of high school home ec machines to do at this time of year and believe it or not , every year when I am there working alone , the phone rings. Who on earth would expect the local sewing machine shop to be open on Christmas day. Cloudy and in the high 20's with a possible storm later this afternoon. Ron.

I only answered it once and it was a customer asking if the shop was open. My boss rings me on my mobile only and none of the schoolgirls like sewing very much. I don't answer the phone any longer on holidays or before or after work hours. I have been educated. Unfortunately I can't do much about the ones who just walk in the back door, Ron.

Can't believe they call on Christmas! That's crazy!
We don't have a traditional turkey dinner here much either, it's too close to just getting over the turkey left overs from Thanksgiving. We just try to make the day special with being with family, sometimes a nicer meal, sometimes just something easy. Whatever suits us.
The snow is falling lightly again.
Hope the hoggies do ok!

I would Mandy but at 32c I need some air. We went out for the business Christmas do tonight (only four of us) . I had been ordinary all day and could only eat a little bit of my dinner. I am finding it very hard to find anything to eat that I enjoy anymore. At least it was cool and the company was good......Ron.

Stupidly mild 14c, and it looks set to stay over the weekend. It's also warm during the night, about 11c although I don't bother myself to check.
Apparently there's a red dust cloud on the way from Africa, but by the time it reaches us in the North East it'll have fizzled out.If they get snow in the south they might have a "pink" xmas.

Mandy and Ron50, I will gladly send you some of our snow. Right now it is a very chilly feels like temp of 8°f (or -13°c) at a little after 10 am. It's going to be a cold day!
No pink snow expected here, thank goodness. (I hate dust storms.)
Stay cool or warm peeps, whichever you need.

Well, this warm weather is a bonus, and especially for those two hoggies I released yesterday, went to bed worrying my head off as I'm silly and sensitive. Another is getting his trotting orders tonight just leaving me with one. I'm praying they don't meet any snowmen this winter and that it's kind weather for them.

Nice to have a pretty snowy scene, Sandy. I feel sorry for you Ron. Hope we all get temperate weather. The world might like that. I see Egypt has snow for the first time in 112 years or something. Freaky.

Fair play Ron fair play. ☺
Thanks Sandy il eagerly await the post 😆
Hope the hedgies do well Spooks ☺
OH Carol pink snow !!! Better than yellow 😃
54f n dry

Strange days indeed. Wildlife experts in Australia yesterday warned that crocodiles may start moving south because the water temps are getting too high. Apparently it inhibits the ability of baby crocs to dive deep to get away from predators. Just last week they filmed a pack of eight bullsharks swimming around the lagoon of the twin waters holiday resort. They got in when they were little and now cannot get out. They are unique in the shark world in being able to survive in completely fresh water. They also rank up there with great whites and tiger sharks for attacks on humans. They may have to put warnings up . Please count family members upon leaving the water. When are you planning to visit Oz again Carol??? :) Ron.

Adelaide in South Australia was the hottest city in the world yesterday recording 40 something celcius. They have not been under 40 all week. Victoria is in the same heat range and there are total fire bans for the weekend and critical fire weather alerts. In the west of Australia most of the fires come from lightning strikes , in the east around half are arson , started by firebugs. They should be jailed for murder when lives are lost.. Ron.

I watched the news tonight . Temps in Adelaide were44c that's around 111 f . Melbourne had 41c . Adelaide will probably be around 42c tomorrow and Melbourne up to 43c. Dangerous fire weather, I hope nothing starts up or is started. It is school holidays and it is hard to supervise kids all the time. One thoughtless act can lead to a disaster. Ron. Ps Hi Lauren Low 70's , The weather headlines today said that it is almost inevitable that 2016 will be the hottest year on record, it is starting to look like one of their forecasts may come true. Ron.

13c and calm. Ron,we're not planning a trip to OZ again ever. Our son is hoping to get here in February, on his ownsome. The kids would of course be welcome, but not his other half,if you know what I mean.We haven't seen him for almost 6yrs.

It's going to get up to 40° - but that's Fahrenheit, not Celsius. Beautiful sunshine today, but going to snow again soon.

Already 36.3ºC in Melbourne and it's only 11am summer time (10am EST). Not a nice day at all. It's a bit cooler - 31ºC - down on the coast where I live.

The north wind has just increased dramatically in strength. This will be bad news for those fighting a grass fire at Epping, on the northern edge of Melbourne.

Unfortunately there have been properties lost in the Victorian fires. No figures yet two groups of fire fighters were lucky to escape when fires went over the top of their trucks. It appears new safety technology saved them. They returned to fight the fire. Adelaide hit 44c again today fourth day in a row over 40c. A spate of cardiac arrests in Melbourne aged communities from heat. It has been very bearable where I live with the temp barely reaching 30c. How strange that a thousand miles south the temps are over ten degrees c hotter. One man was arrested in Victoria for starting a grass fire. Ron.

Bushfires now in South Australia and Victoria. Ok in Qld though the Monsoon trough has formed in the north with a possible cyclone forming on the Northern territory Qld border along with heavy rains in the gulf and cape. Ron.

Cool breeze and sunny
While drinking our tea in bed early (7-30) this morning ,we had an amazing view of the International Space Station. Our bedroom and bed face south, and we watched it move slowly west until the sky brightened, then we lost it.I'm sure it is 250 miles up and the crew see 8 sunrises a day.I gave our national hero Tim,a little wave.

Ten houses lost in Victorian fires but fortunately no lives lost. I believe a cooler change came thru but only a little rain. Some fires are still burning. Another warm ,humid night made sleeping difficult. Last mad week of work for the year. It has been a little quiet the last two weeks but this week is always full on. I have been doing more since I reached retirement than I have for years. Snafu, Ron.

Wow, can't believe the weather there Ron!
We are just starting another three day snow storm, expecting as much snow as we had before. Some of that snow melted as we got a little warmer, then it rained this morning. But definitely turning colder and another couple to three ft of snow coming between now and Wednesday. Yowzers!:eek2:

41f n dry the ground is dry for the first time in ages its been damp or wet for weeks. ☺
i guess even madder its different just a few miles away 😕

There are now bushfires in three states. There is a large fire threatening the southern suburbs of Perth in WA ,an area east of Adelaide is on fire and an update from Victoria says the houses lost is between fifteen and twenty. A tornado hit one of the beach suburbs of Sydney last week and there appears to be a cyclone forming this week in the gulf of Carpentaria. Temps in inland Australia are regularly over 40 c this summer. I hope that it is the weather just showing off and not the new normal. Ron.

Thanks mandy , my biggest danger is disappearing down the shower plug hole. It is so hot and sticky I am constantly under the shower. Thank goodness it is also the hay fever season. Sometimes it is a blessing having your nose blocked ,particularly in crowds,:( Ron.

cool, breezy and showery. It's the shortest day today.

(Tell that to the nursing staff, shop workers, and posties poor souls)

No deaths but the property toll mounts ,in Victoria twelve houses near Epping and thirty farm sheds, another sixteen homes on the NSW border and one home in Perth. Perth Is looking at the next two days over 40c. Concern continues over a cyclone forming in the gulf of Carpentaria in time for Christmas. Another hot steamy night in SE Qld. There is not much difference between day and night temps. It is really unpleasant when there is no relief at night. Ron.

Our snow so far is rain, and melted half the snow we had. :( It should turn to snow in the night, will be very slippery roads in the morning. Glad I finished my Christmas shopping! (Just started Friday too! It's a world record speed shopping!)
Sorry about the fires (and heat) Ron. Such devastation! We have a lot to be thankful for here.
Hugs to all!

I guess America has seen more than its fair share of wildfires in the last few years with the loss of some brave fire fighters Sandy. I guess the main difference between our countries is the population and the resources of our fire fighters . We mostly have only volunteer rural fire brigades here and equipment like water bombers may be three states away and take a couple of days to reach the emergency. They have a structured series of warnings that range from early warning to it is now too late to run ,defend yourselves and property as best you can. It is quite incredible how well organised people now are. There has been a lot of advertising about "do you have a plan". Most communities now have a plan and have a safe rally point to defend in each area. It saves lives but as in most fires it is those fighting the fire most at risk. I am hoping that they all have a safe and happy Christmas as I do for all of my friends around the world... Ron. Our Christmas day forecast is 27c and wet. I can live with that. :) .

Bright sunshiney day.Not a cloud in the sky.
Watched the Space Station again this morning. It's in a slightly different position obviously.
It occurred to me that Christians could mistake it as the star the three wise men followed,it being that time of year.
I also thought, isn't it amazing the lengths some men will go to,to get out of helping with Christmas ? Major Tim Peake phoned his parents from the I.S.S. on Monday, and they were out.But they will keep the message on their phone forever,do doubt.

I'd love to be able to phone someone from outer space. Even better would be to post on a forum, perhaps on a "What is your weather like today" thread. "Very, very cold".

Perfect blue sky here too.

We are still watching a low sitting over the NT if it moves east over the gulf it will probably be named as a cyclone by Saturday. The monsoon trough dumped between one and two hundred mm over the Cairns area in north Queensland overnight. Some of the moist monsoon northerly will hit the south east trade winds tomorrow so we will get some rain as well. They are forecasting 27c and showers on Christmas day. It was really hot and humid today. I was pushing my self at work but I went home at three pm totally goosed. After tomorrow I should have a bit over a week off..... Ron

Sunny out, really nice actually. Would love it if it is a really mild winter entirely, but at least one month that is normally cold has been warm. Probably we'll have a bitter January, February and March just to make up for the mild start to winter. Well, the days are getting longer, or shorter for Ron, and that's something I always look forward too.

Christmas is almost here and I think I'm going to have a Scottsma one. It'll go by without me noticing. I'm normally with my niece and her family so I'm having my second Xmas all alone. I'm thinking of buying myself a pressie, but I don't know what I want.

If you feel a bit sad, as I sometimes do,remind yourself that there are so many others with more to be sad about than us.
Also there's always a lot of falling out, stress and accidents. And who hasn't said "Thank goodness that's over" when the last of the visitors leave.:dusty:

We are in Northern Ontario which I used to think was close to the North Pole... before I got here.
It's been a mixed bag of rain one day, bit snow and ice one day, rain again today, no snow on the ground. Dark out all day when cloudy - told you North Pole. :ylol:
Depressing, but better than shoveling mountains of the white stuff to clear the driveway.

P.S. That sunset in my avatar is a winter sunset, across the street.

Hi and welcome.I've just read an earlier post of yours. It's nice to see a new face, but of course given the choice, none of us would be here.Best wishes.

Hi, and welcome, Never,
who needs a white Christmas with winter sunsets like that. Now I am really jealous. Mind, that sunset reflecting on snow would be good. You lucky thing. but no snow staying on the ground yet? Strange.

Hi Spooky1,
It is strange. Usually we have the front door and steps and walkway pile high and covered with snow by now and use only the side door.
Right again about the sunset, it is gorgeous with white snow on the ground as a backdrop, the snow takes on the pink and blue colors. I chose it because it's also a symbol of beauty in the winter of our lives.

Hi ND from a commonwealther at the other end of the world. You have a warm winter and we are having the hottest summer on record. Adelaide is in the high 30cs again today. We are still waiting for a cyclone to form ,floods in north Qld from the monsoon trough and a rainy day in south east Qld tho at the moment it is just cloudy. Another hot humid night making sleep difficult. I'm with you Spook a good chance I won't even speak to anybody on Christmas day, might even go fishing, Ron.

Thanks Ron,
We also get some hot humid weather here when you are in your winter zone, not much but enough to remind us it's summer, and the flies do that anyway. Don't know what's happening the last few years with the weather etc. , they say it's the thinning of the ozone layer.
We are surrounded with lakes here, forests, and black bears. Lots of fishing, hunting and fun for the outdoorsy types. Good day to you!

Hi from Utah, ND. That is a gorgeous sunset, and the way you phrased having a nice sunset in the winter of our lives was very poetic and beautiful.
Here we just finished another snow storm. The sun in shining through the clouds now. We will get a little more snow on Christmas Day.

What a great photo, Sandy! thanks for uploading it. This is what it's supposed to look like.
I don't mind the 4 seasons. For me it's like a renewal, with quiet times and busy times, each one with it's good points. Best Wishes.

Sunny but chilly in my neck of the woods ☺
welcome neverdull☺ sorry u need to be here tho. 💕

Manchester, that's close to the East Coast mid UK? I watch a lot of BBC programs, and enjoy looking up the geography. Thank you for the welcome. I like the site - we share something difficult to live with, that is true, but there is a lot more honesty here too. Best wishes.

Well I have finished work for the year and will have a week off. I will start feeling guilty about not working sometime tomorrow. Heat and fires down south in SA and Vic . Over 50 percent chance of the cyclone finally forming on Sat. Unfortunately most of the rain will fall on the east coast and not inland where it is needed. It has started raining here this afternoon. Nuisance only nothing heavy. With all the tourists on the road it is just what we need. There will be fender benders every where. It is Christmas eve here wishing you all a healthy and a safe Christmas and new year. Hugs to all Ron.

Now thats what christmas should look like. Lovely pic ☺💞

10c, breezy ,and sunny again, so no complaints.
To those of you who won't be having a "Merry" Christmas (like me) I hope you at least have a contented one, and keep well.

Really! I must have been thinking of Newcastle. 'F' for me in geography. :ylol:
Surprised you are having chilly weather. Yes, I love TV programming from other English speaking couutries such as UK and OZ. Best,
Marie

Another crazy day in snow country, dry wind storm 65 mile or 90K an hour, and warmish. Ground is bare. Is this April??? or Xmas eve???
Oh well.

Sunny with showers, but not cold at all. The sun burst through when I was sat in the bus shelter and the warmth that radiated was amazing. Lasted fleetingly though.

Wishing you all a very happy xmas, and go light on all the wrong foods. Don't get the mince pies stuck behind the strictures.

Am gonna look for a few slugs in the garden for the hedgehog that's still too small to hibernate. Lucky him. What an xmas dinner that will be.

I'm close to Newcastle, about 8mls down river at the mouth of the Tyne (more or less)

That's interesting, the Tyne river name is familiar to me. I love historical novels too, many from British early history. Conn Iggulden is one of my favorite authors right now. His new series about the War of the Roses is fascinating.

I'm from French Normandy descent, as many of the early colonial Canadians are.
best wishes, marie

Spooky1,
Can you give me a tip to help me set up my profile properly, I try to add information to it and it does not work, such as location, my diagnosed illness which is there but does not show up on my messages. I might be missing something. Thank you.

ND, I think I just found an extra friend on here. I loved you got your geography wrong. Can I put you right on your profile??? No!!! I can't do that either, lol. This forum won't let me join the groups I want to join, nor will it let me sort my profile right. When you learn, Marie, would you kindly teach me. I have little idea how it works. I just accept what I can post and am grateful for the understanding I get from this forum. No one I know actually understands what it is to live with Crohns. So you have my sympathy and full understanding.

Everyone here will laugh and also understand, I too am not techno savvy. I am fully Crohn's savvy, and that, like all else here makes us good friends.

Love your profile pic! notice I haven't managed to upload one? ooops, must learn technology.
Happy Xmas, wish you had a white one.
P.s Got a friend near Regina, not much snow there. Normally she would show her dogs in the snow. Strange weather.
all the best
Diane

Very strange weather , my condolences to any who lost friends or loved ones in the tornadoes in the southern US. It is Christmas day here and where I live is 27c and raining or at least overcast. The southern states particularly SA are looking at 40c and fires. The NT and north QLD have floods from the monsoon trough and the low is now expected to move to the Gulf of Carpentaria on Sunday and become a cyclone. The Yachts leave tomorrow on the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race , they will be hit on day 1 by a 50 knot southerly buster. It was forecast to be stronger but things have moderated thankfully and I hope it is fatality free unlike a few years back. Try and have a good Christmas Carol and Spooky I will think of you today as I sit alone and eat my roast duck lunch,,,,,for the next week probably , it's big duck... Hugs ron.

Still Christmas eve day here, sunny and beautiful on the snow. Sparkly, like Christmas. And although I'm not the one with the IBD (that I know of) I've been spending much too much time on the loo with both intestinal issues, and a bad UTI or kidney infection. And I've seen what Doug has gone thru and continues to struggle with although "in remission," so I understand you lot also. (DougUte is the one with confirmed crohns but spends less time in the bathroom than I do). GI's office suspects I recently passed a partial bowel obstruction, but having more testing done.
At any rate, merry Christmas everyone!

Hi Diane, anyone that can make me laugh like you did can be my friend anytime! Love you sense of humour or humor, us Canadians can spell both ways. LOL
I should be tech savvy, I can set-up a website from scratch.... but hey, nobody knows everything, right.
Our dogs are wet and muddy coming back from their walks right now, not good picture material - that will be for another day.
Merry Xmas to you too, it's going to be ok inside. Part of our town is out of electricity after this morning's wind storm, thank God it did not affect us. Can you imagine, on Xmas Eve?
best,
Marie
