4c and grey.....Going for a walk soon then back to slob out.
Have the best day you can.Ron,our son just phoned from Esperance (caravan)says it's a bit windy where he is. He was like that when he was here,so no change there then.Enjoy your Duck and relish the peace and quiet. Best wishes and better health to all.

Hi Diane. Very best wishes and better health for the future.Or at least bearable.

I had a smile at you and Neverdull being techno UNSAVVY.We should start a club.
Sometimes I amaze myself at my ignorance. But I muddle through.

Fires are raging along the Great Ocean Road on the south west Victorian coast, fanned by very high winds. Up to 60 homes are already feared lost and the wind change expected early tomorrow morning will endanger many more. Almost all of the residents of the small towns of Wye River, Grey River, Kennet River and Separation Creek, south of Lorne, have been evacuated and all tourists have been asked to leave Lorne, which is a very popular summer holiday destination.

We are in no danger where I live but we can see the smoke and the glow in the sky from the fires. These fires so early in the season do not bode well the rest of summer!

The weather is doing its best to ruin Christmas across the world. My heart goes out to those in the US who have endured unseasonal tornadoes with a dreadful loss of life and property. It has been a bad day in Victoria as well with an out of control fire racing along the coast. Plenty of warning was given to evacuate and it seems no lives have been lost but 53 homes have been destroyed. I think it was further east from where Susan2 lives at least I hope she was not involved. Not a Christmas to remember for a lot of people. I hope all of you are safe including little slug eating hogs and had as happy a Christmas as possible. Thanks Carol , the duck was nice but I had forgotten how hard they are to get at , a lot of work for not much meat and yes I did not see or speak to anybody all day. Not much rain today but not too hot.......Ron PS I think WA are expecting 35c tomorrow around Perth.

Thanks for thinking of me, Ron. The fires are actually to the west of me and, although we can see the smoke and the glow of the flames, we are in no danger at the moment. The change will take the wind around to come from the south west and could drive the fires closer to us.

I'm with Mandy, stay safe Susan ,I know how quickly things can change with fires . I hope that the forecast of rain tomorrow pans out. I would much rather see the boxing day test ruined by rain and all of the fires out. Best of luck to you and your neighbours, Hugs Ron. PS You are right this is only the start of it summer has only just begun.

That tornado was devastating and as for the fires in Aus, well, I'm so sorry for you all. I also feel for those in Cumbria as they await being flooded out yet again this year. I think many of us don't realise just how lucky we are without any of these disastrous weather situations. Stay safe Susan2. I haven't spoken to anyone either yet Ron. I'm ok, I've chatted to the birds outside, the way I feed them they'd think it was xmas, Little David is now Big David and is going to be woken up in a bit for a cuddle, like it or not, lol. And my cats have chatted noisily to me as they realise I bought them some nice food for xmas. As for me, I bought a stake but I'm not brilliant at cooking them so I'm hoping for the best and not boot leather.

Lets just say thank God for this forum, tis nice to know you're also all out there.

Amen to that spooks. We are here all days of the year. Cant take days off in the support line 😃
. Hope david dont mind being woke up lol. Im sure he will love the cuddles. Love n hugs too you my friend. 🎅💕💕💋💋
ps hope the steak was good hun x

Didn't cook today, just not well enough. It will have to wait. Perhaps I should try slugs. Yep, thank God we are here all year. I've been in my pj's since this afternoon and just on sofa cos I rather poorly. Hope I feel better and want a steak tomorrow, lol.

Merry Christmas to all my friends here🎄🎄🎄💋 (even if Christmas was yesterday for you). We had a light dusting of snow this am on our already snow laden grounds, but I'm glad that's all we got. We took our (former) foster son to see the new Star Wars movie after he spent the night here (he is intellectually handicapped so like a little kid still) and I didn't want to traipse about on slippery roads. He has now gone and although nice to have overnight, whew! Time to recover. Quiet sounds nice right now.😴

Our illness is very much like the weather , it is either drought or flood. With me that is alternate days. I saw my brother just before Christmas , mid year they had to build him a new A hole thanks to a prolapse. The surgery seemed to go well but he has been in real strife with alternating constipation and diahorreah . He has had and been treated for ulcerative colitis for forty years . You don't get a sentence like that for murder! He wants to travel around Australia but with his state of health plus he is 71 I think he has left it too late. I wish that there was an answer for us. Massive hug to you Dianne I can hear the sadness in your cyber voice , give all those critters a big hug I think they understand, it is not just the food you give them. Take care everyone and thank you for your companionship over the last year, Ron.

Oh, well, I'm gonna eat today. My PEG tube came out last night and the site has closed up. Off to hospital at some point to get it surgically put in. Still got the dental abscess, feeling rotten.

Ron, I feel for your brother, I'm 40 years with Crohns. No, we wouldn't get this for murder. I think that just puts it in perspective though. My mum had colitis, think it can run in the family, all this diarrhoea. Oh well, a cure one day maybe.

The slugs slithered out Little David's box and are drying out in my kitchen, maybe I should eat them.

Dull not so damp. Really I'm jealous of those with Christmassy snow.
Take care all and happy Boxing Day.

Much cooler day today, 20C with rain. It is now confirmed that 116 homes were lost in Victorian Christmas Day Bushfires. Thankfully no lives.

The fires are burning around Lorne, about 150km west of Melbourne. 95 of the homes were losted at Wye River about a third of the town.

I can't think of anything more terrifying than raging fires and tornados and earthquakes and mudslides. We are so fortunate in the UK,but the poor folk in the west of the country, some whose homes have been flooded four times in a month, might disagree.I don't know where they get the will to go on.

Mild today but very wet.Not a day for walking.Hope you're feeling better Diane.

The way the weather has been Carol I don't know why we worry about illness , something else will get us for sure. Between floods in the UK , Tornadoes in the US and fires and floods in Aust (no deaths from the latest fires but two flood deaths in the north) and rampant hedgehogs we are doomed. So we might as well have fun whilst we are here. Hugs to Diane, Carol, Mandy, Sandy,Susan and Catherine. Sorry Guys not into man hugs :) Ron.

Oh just seen on news that a former pub near where i work has been washed away in the floods.
What is happening with the weather extreme heat, rains etc. My heart goes out to all ❤❤❤
stay safe everyone ❤

You just made me laugh out loud, Ron. It's so nice when that happens. thanks.

Mandy, I see on the news that Manchester is threatened with water. Hope you're safe.
Ron, we have seen the homes in flames in Aus on our news too.
I got nothing but wind here, must have been the slugs, lol.
Stay safe all.

My son just come home n told me our town center is flooded. N gas pipes had been broke n gone up in flames . Lucky im up on a hill side of the valley the center is in . Shipping containers floating down the river that runs thro the center.Water flooding most of manchester area now .
Thanks spooks should be ok as im up the valley sides. 😨

Mandy, are you thinking of hitting the sales, or sails? You could grab yourself a bargain if one floats by. I have horrible humour, but I know you're safe. I can't believe how bad it looks. The wind has been on the go today, but no rain here. The north east has fallen out of favour with the weather I think.

The weather has had the last laugh at the yachts in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race . The yachts were hit by a southerly buster during the afternoon and night. These are state of the art ocean racing yachts and they are limping into port everywhere including multi race winner Wild oats which retired after being hit by a squall and having here mainsail ripped in half . There are injuries but none serious. With the strengthening weather patterns each year I wonder how long the race can be kept going . There were six sailors killed a few years back when they were hit by a massive storm . It is no longer a yacht race but a test of survival. It is 30c here today and overcast . The monsoon trough has flooded the north and caused a couple of deaths. It is cool in Victoria but the fires continue to burn. Stay safe in the Uk , it is bad enough being wet without being cold and wet. I wonder if anybody expected how dramatic some of the reports would get when "what is your weather like today? "was started? Stay safe everywhere and keep smiling, hugs Ron.

Cool, but the fires are by no means extinguished and we are building up to more high temperatures on New Year's Eve.

Dull with drizzle. Nothing of what other Brits are suffering.
Ron, I was wondering about the changes in climate. The world has changed so much since 2008 when I first started watching videos on YouTube about it. I wonder whether it is the poleshift. Things aren't getting easier weather wise. Stay safe in Aus.

Mandy, are things any better today?

Hey spooky. Things are a bit better. Sun is out at the mo n flood alert warnings are lifted for my area. Just rung work to check if they were flood free as the pub that got washed away is just round the corner. They were ok at work n the garden centre is open. Which is lucky coz the river that took the pub out is about 25-30feet away from the entrance 😨. Thanks for asking hun. So sad for all affected tho it's awful. Many evacuated in the centre of my town. Its is being said that the next few days should be dry. So may give it a chance to subside...💕

Abashed to say 6c and a cloudless blue sky.Good walking weather (when my insides start behaving that is) Haven't been out for almost 2 days and going a bit stir crazy.

Must be the time of year , I've had three days off and never felt so crook in ages. They say the muscles in our butts are so amazing that they can identify gas and solid and can let one pass whilst stopping the other, Don't believe it!
It has poured rain tonight. The tail of the monsoon trough has slipped down over the top of us. It is pouring in North west Qld. They said it wouldn't but the residents are reporting the best rain in 25 yrs. I see that wild fires have broken out in LA and now they are predicting a blizzard for Texas not to mention more tornadoes. I'm going to bed I feel like crap and I know I am not alone in feeling that way. I wish us all better health .....Ron.

I like the analogy of birth pains. It implies new life coming, and I have to believe that is what is happening to good 'ol mother earth. It is horrifying to read what I have read since I even posted last. What you all go thru! My thoughts are with you all.
It is bitter cold here today. When we first checked the weather temps this morning, the "feels like" temp was -7°F, or -22°C. But we are snug as a bug inside, with nice warm coats if we need to venture out long enough to get to a car right outside our door to go anywhere. Stay safe and well friends.

Cloudy day , very humid . Got tired of trying to stay cool so I went to the movies and watched star wars in airconditioned hmmm well not comfort cinema seats are definitely not comfortable but the show was good. Haven't been to the movies in six years of so. came out and immediately melted. That is the trouble with air con , sooner or later you have to leave it. Still flooding in the territory and north Qld . Another lady lost when her car was swept away. Saw the british PM on the news , he seemed most embarrassed that great Britian was not flood proof. Somebody needs to tell him that floods are natural disasters and not a political problem. WA has temps over 37c again and the bushfire areas of Victoria can expect the same in a few days. Again take care everyone, be safe Ron.

Ron,we know the UK floods are not our PMs fault, but most of us prefer to blame him.
He has a lot to be ashamed and embarrassed about, believe me.:ymad:

Those hedgehogs were so sweet, bless them. David is also very sweet, but I think he and I will also go into hibernation until march. Let the cold months begin.

Sunny, and not too cold.

Me too Diane if I get up at 630am I have to be in bed by 930pm. I am so tired all of the time especially if I dare to do something while I am up. Another steamy day , not hot just unpleasant. Very windy, strong wind warning again tomorrow (weather not me ) .still hot in the southern states, over 35c in most of the southern capitals. Monsoon is still active in the north with a lot of areas still flooded.. Got to go to bed .nite nite Ron.

-20 this morning, winter is my favorite season and I enjoy cold dry winter weather with bright sunshine and plenty of snow. I heat with wood and keep the house warm with a forced air wood furnace. During cold spells the oil furnace never runs since the fire is going steady.
Winter came late this year, and my Crohn's tends to go into remission during the winter months.

Welcome, Bufford,
minus 20. Mind your description sounds great. I wonder why your crohns goes into remission during winter. Maybe it is salad stuffs in summer. I'm intrigued. Do let us know as we'd all want to go into remission. We'll have to follow winter around the world, methinks.

Hi Bufford I am glad you feel better in winter. I know that I prefer winter , the month of it we get if we are lucky . I guess that is the downside of living in a so called subtropical paradise. It si overcast and steamy again today. Not much chance of rain tho as the clouds are travelling at 100k. Not much has changed with our weather ,hot in the south ,flooded to the north and steamy in the middle, sounds like a nice dessert, Ron.

We went for a ride up in the local canyons. It is still cold here (but not -20), and I agree about your preference for winter, Bufford. We saw a mama moose and her calf, tons of deer, and quite a few wild turkeys. It was a good ride.

Strong gusts of wind but I think western Britain and the north are going to get the worst of it. Good luck in those areas.

Am off to have three tooth roots removed today, still haven't got my peg tract done due to no staff. Dr. ordered sip feeds for me. Shall probably get myself a vodka to drink over new year, lol. Can't think of what pain there will be. I always faint at the dentists, feeling queasy just thinking about it. Don't know if he's gonna cut and stitch the gums or what.

Will let you know how I am later.

P.S saw a hoggie in my garden last night, brought him in and he's unpainted, so not one of mine. Tis nice to know they're ok out there.

Terry Pratchett would be proud of you . When he invented his Hogfather instead of santa I'm sure he did not know there was a real hog mother. I was sad when he passed from alzheimers he had a wicked mind. Good luck with the tooth . I had a heap of root canals done during chemo and more done on methotrexate ,so far so good on cyclosporine.. Steamy today only high 20's for the next few days . Adelaide is expecting 38c for the next few days , same in Melbourne to day tho cooler tomorrow > Wa is back to norm temp range. Ron.

11c,breezy,fleeting showers.

I hope you're home safe from the dentists Diane.Thinking about it is always worse than the actual procedure. ( mostly)

I'm back, took about 5 minutes each root. I asked nice young hansom dentist how to go about getting roots out. He said I got an implement that slides between gum and root and it just pops it out. Yeah, right!!! I fell for it can you believe. And they had to bring me glucose. Numbness has gone, no pain on the two on the right, but am feeling the one with the abscess, some bleeding still.

Omg, that wind nearly blew me over. I was not pleased. Home and keeping warm.

Ysterday I actually watched telly, was flowers in the attic, ha, read the book many years ago. Might watch this war and piece and see if I can't read a part of the book each week, I might get through it that way.

48f raining gently. Not windy at the mo. Was pretty windy in the night but not as bad as expected.. (not me btw lol ).
Hope your chompers get better soo n spooky ☺
All keep safe 💋💕

Christmas eve here, sorry you folk in the UK are having so many problems , Dianne with your tooth ,Hugs , War and peace , even more painful double hug. And the weather , how bad has it been . Nearly enough to shift to Australia. I don't quite understand how you can have once in a hundred year floods every second year, happens a lot here in Oz. Well tomorrow we start a new year. Technically it is viewed as a time of hope and renewell , Why then am I hiding under the bed. weather is the same steamy ,high 20cs and overcast. HNY to all my friends here . Ron.

Hope n renewal eh ron.. i always think what the hell is this new year going to bloody chuck at me to deal with.. but deal with it i will 😃 coz i always do !! I mite join u in hiding under the bed ron ,in fact move over im on my way

Lovely sunny day. Really nice.

Pain isn't too bad at all, he must have done a fairly good job. Not that I want to smile about it with missing teeth.

Ron, I love your humour. It's great to laugh.

Apparently its going to be frosty in the mornings soon. down to the 1 degree that we expect. Looks like we're going to start the new year with normal weather.

If all of that rain freezes you can skate to Scotland. I'm glad they did a good job on your tooth. I think my sense of humour is about all that I have left that works Dianne. I have a lot of funny little things that happen in the course of daily life and instead of panicking and calling the doctor I just have a good laugh, sometimes it works and things are fine , other time I finish up in the back of an ambulance...again. When I go they will probably find me with a smile on my face. Thus ends Rons guide to living with bad things.

Bad fires over in south Australia and the fire on Victorias ocean road looks like causing problems again. The low that was over Darwin and was expected to form a cyclone in the gulf has wandered south and is sitting over Alice Springs and is watering the desert. It is expected to move east and drench S.E Qld next week. Strange times . I'll worry about it next year :) Ron.

Ron,Happy New Year to you and to all my crohnies who are "weather whingers" :dusty: :thumleft: :dusty:

Lovely day here,no complaints. We usually start looking forward to Spring tomorrow, but we haven't had Winter yet.:frown:

Have put hoggie food out tonight as two nights ago a loverly hoggie appeared in my garden hunting for food. Hope they survive our -1 degree decline in weather. Always hopeful for any wildlife.

Hoping those who have lost their homes this Xmas one way or another a happy new year and best of all... survival.

Happy New Year all of you the world over.

34f dry at the mo. Feels cold n im full of one 😷. Shame xmas was last week or i could have given rudolph the night off 😃

It is noticeably colder today, but the mild frost has gone and things are going to warm up a tad. I have lots of crocus and daffodils well on their way up, I bet the frosts and cold weather will ruin them.

This year the difference I hope will be that I can get out a little more than I did in the past, especially when living in Cornwall as it's a million miles to anywhere, which is a long drive, and very poor public transport.

January is 5 hospital appts/minor surgery etc so I will be getting out, lol. February onwards I hope I get out somewhere nice.

Hope all have some good plans for this 2016.

1c early on,and a balmy 3c now.

We went down to the coast this morning to watch the annual "dip" in the sea.
The screams of pain when they hit the water was terrible to hear hahaha.
There was a good turnout, some in fancy dress, others in swimwear.I don't think I've ever seen so much purple mottled skin.

All the best with your appointments Dianne. My new years resolution is to stay away from doctors. Funny doc story , like Hawkeye I have a left hemicolectomy. My doc read my report after a ct scan and the tech had noted a right hemicolectomy. My doc said you told me it was left. I said when the tech was reading the scan it was on his right hand side. We are doomed. My doc just said I can see why you have an attitude.
Nothing has changed with the new year , on Friday my Blood pressure was 128/78. This morning it was 152/128. Fires in WA on Perths northern outskirts . SA and Victoria. Fine and 29c here . A beautiful day but they still forecast rain for mid week . Still flooding in the NT with some areas isolated for over a week. Some good rains have fallen in drought affected areas of Qld so it is a happy new year for them. Only a couple of days of my break left, back to work Monday. Ron.

Ron, I once had a lady scanning my abdomen with the hand scan device. She studied the sonar screen and could see it looked strange. She looked at me and asked if I had ever had surgery. I mean she could see the scar right down my abdomen, surely, not to mention obviously my guts didn't look normal. Weird docs.

Not too cold but wet out. Wish it was brighter. Take care those in floods, fires and extreme heat/cold.

After midnight. I have been trying to get to sleep since 9pm. gave up and got up . I might read for a while too carol. Too hot to sleep and too agitated for some reason. I hate it when I can't sleep :(

It's still cold around here. The weathercaster said it would get as low as 8°F (-13°c), and I believe it. Our former foster son that visits every other week was jealous of our wildlife drive, so we went again today and this time again saw deer, wild turkeys, but a magnificent bull moose instead of the female cow and her baby we saw the other day. Looking up moose on Wikipedia, we found out that they are called elk in British England and we were surprised that they were long extinct there. At any rate, it was a fun drive again today.

Sandy pretty much everything is extinct in the UK.. including me im just a virtual nuisence really 😆😉 41f and dry at the mo no doubt it will rain again soon. No wonder the animals went extinct, they were that fed up of the rain they give up being .🐊🐉
