What is YOUR weather like today??

It's 15c, the tourists have started the summer takeover early. Oh well, I like the city folks better than some of the locals... just not where I like to fish, hang out or hike. Too many guide books have been printed and then of course google earth may have something to do with it.

My optitian is a ten minute walk into town Chris. but I know you'll have lots of things that I don't,like wildlife etc.A nice touch bringing your Mother books,I hope you don't have to cook your own dinner when she gets engrossed....

6c and grey again but at least it's dry after 24hrs of rain....

My local optometrist office told me that they wont deal with persons with disability status... I told them they lost a life long customer. Discrimination at it's finest. The only thing for sure in this world is dinner will be at six. You can ask my father about that one! ;)

re;optometrist....caring versus cash,it's very wrong.
I agree with your comments on tourists. Our coastline and countryside is forever on TV.
We have the touristy stuff about the Roman Wall and we have lots of castles and cathedrals and ancient history. We also have a couple of popular drama series shot in the area, and that also attracts the hoards.....I have a water bowl (nearly wrote bowel there) out front for thirsty dogs coming from the park or coast.Maybe I should set up a refreshment stall for their owners (for a small charge of course) 11c and sunny today.Did a 10ml cycle along the coast ringing my bell at the tourists.

Chris, I would find out who owns or manages the place and crawl up their arse in no uncertain terms. This is discrimination pain and misery aimed at those who are vulnerable plain and simple. People/organizations who perpetuate such policies bring out my horns.

Yesterday was a snowy wet day, and since I couldn't do anything, I went for a supply run and came home with Chinese food for a treat. Today its a damp +4C.

6c and steady rain....Di., don't 4get the hedgie prog prog. 2nite on 5.

I usually catch upon what you are posting about the hedgehogs but don't have anything to contribute. Last night, however, I was watching the Supervet and Noel had 4 hedgehogs in, all with broken left hind legs. Three of them were operated on and were able to be released again. Unfortunately, the smallest of the group didn't make it. It was lovely to see the three (2 females and a male) scampering off down the large garden into which they were released.

Thanks Susan.Hedgehogs like to many other species are battling to survive. Our Di., (Spooky) is a hedgie mum on occasion and sometimes can be seen in the dead of night in her PJs crawling 'round the garden with a torch. hahaha
It's good to see you,I hope you're keeping well.

10c.and cloudy, but the sun is really trying to burst forth.Maybe summer is coming.

Lovely and sunny this morning at 6 am, still nice out.

The hedgie programme was wonderful. Loved the one where hedgie tugs at his sock, lol. I will definitely catch the next programme on Wednesday.

I had 3 hedgies in the garden last night. Now i'm watching a livestream of bluetits nesting. Was a horrible fatality for one chick last night. I'm too sensitive over nature.

A nice sunny day and warm, but there is still chilly bite to the breeze off the sea.Had a good 2hr.cycle up river to the Marina and back but the roads were busy with traffic and cyclists and the cycle paths were busy too.I'm not going to be negative though,I mean people are entitled to enjoy themselves....JUST NOT AT THE SAME TIME AS ME !!!

Di., we saw a seagull grab a moor hen chick from the pond across the road.It was brutal but nature is brutal. The gull probably had kids to feed......

Cyclone Ann was named in the Coral sea yesterday. It is expected to cross Cape York around Tuesday causing heavy rain. We probably won't feel much of it in the south east. Cloudy with showers for the rest of the week. Ron.

I had a good ride in the mountains today. It was mid twenties Celsius. I saw a grouse, a Canada goose, deer, moose droppings and many ducks along the way. Oh how I love to ride. ;)

Lovely and sunny again today. More potting on of seedlings. I would like to think i'm off to the tip with a car load. Will have to see how my energy pans out.

The live stream next box of blue tits shut down again today when mrs was getting her nesting entangled around her foot and another chick. So she was in a panic again and probably flew off with another chick dangling around her foot. So sad. Mind, the statistics for blue tit young are rather dire.

Saw Arbuckle the fat hedgie on countryfile yesterday. Bless him.

I saw Arbuckle too Di., He's in a great place and safe. The worry starts when he is released. Can you offer to adopt him ? I expect many people have though.
15c here, calm and sunny.Waiting for the plumber to fix the loo, then shopping.

For the most part the snow pack is gone, the peepers (small frogs) are singing their chorus at night. Its a beautiful sound when hundreds or more of these frogs are peeping together in the surrounding bogs.
I've cut and split 5 cords of wood, which now will need to be moved, but for now I will wait until green up, once the trees leaf out the wild fire threat will decrease some unless we get into a dry pattern.
I changed out the oil in the ATV, rode over to the neighbor and gave her my old lawnmore to free up some space in my shed. I have to get rid of old stuff to make room for more new stuff. It never ends.

Still hovering around the 25* mark and 13* nighttime. Some rain due over the next few days, but nothing spectacular. Tomorrow is my colonoscopy day so you all will know what I will be doing! I have lost count on many I have had over the past 26 years.

Is there some sort of scheme, kinda like frequent flyer points when you get to the 30 mark. Or maybe a lapel badge with flames encasing a circle? Just a thought!

Keep well everybody, the contents of the glass I raise to toast to your good health is really not that palatable. Life goes on.

Got my letter yesterday Merv as usual I have to fill out a detailed report as to why or if I really need one. They delayed my last one by nearly a year. By then I had grown four polyps between four and twelve mm. I was extremely lucky that none had turned tho the biggest was getting very close. Good luck with it mate , I am up to number fourteen from memory. Ron.

As routine colonoscopies have become, I will always dislike the wait leading up to them. I wonder if they will one day find an alternative for the need to fast and purge.

Its raining today and there was a rumble of thunder, or was that Merv flushing over an ocean away. I hope the day passes quickly and the exam is nothing more than routine.

Well, i've kept as busy as possible these last two days. I got a load of crap to the tip. Took me ages to load the car and 2 mins for a couple of blokes to empty it, lol. I've planted up more seedlings. And today i had a hospital visit. God, i hate driving through Northampton.

Glorious weather here. Today the thermal vest and cabled winter woolly were left off and i wore a slightly thicker shirt. Am loving this weather (sorry Carol).

I'm not sure i need arbuckle to adopt. I have plenty of hedgehog activity in my gardens, i'm pleased to say.

Thanks Buff. All thing shall pass, or looking up old friends. One must maintain a sense of humour under such circumstances

Another lovely day. I suspect this is our few days of Summer, lol. I'm not complaining though.

Must say i love everyone's humour on here. It does put a smile on the face.

21c hhrumph !!! Please don't apologise for enjoying the warm weather Di., I know how you suffer with the cold.Hope the thermals and wooly pully are not at the tip cos temps dropping soon.At least up here in the N.E. it is

Yesterday I did a spring clean up. I have a full truck load of recyclables to drop off. Then after that a dump run. It went up to nearly 20C before the thunderstorm rolled through. What was unusual was that it remained warm after the rain, instead of the snow that sometimes mixes in at the end of the season. Today looks to be another warm spring day.

I need to clear the rest of my greenhouse today. Need to make more room for the seedlings.

Carol. That hedgie with mange! I'm so pleased he was rescued.

Lovely and sunny and warm again today. Really appreciating brighter days. They do give me a lift, even if i don't want to be lifted at times, lol. Having to wait in for phone calls regarding my urgent CT scan. Boring.

cooler 12-14c today. No complaints.Better cycling weather.Good to hear you're all full of enthusiasm for cleaning and sorting and fixing.BUT please stop when you need to.It'll still be there tomorrow..

Still wet and wind and haven't cleaned nuthin. Federal election weekend, why do we bother? Ron.

'Federal election weekend, why do we bother?'

Because it is our patriotic duty to ensure that the most competent corrupt candidates are chosen to rip us off for the next three years.

Weather-wise, much the same as you, Ron

Wow, you're already up to 20C. I wish we were.

Dull and windy out. Definitely colder than 20C.

I always feel as though i haven't done anything. In my huge attempt to declutter and get rid of, i have created a very big mess in all rooms, lol. I'm getting there though.

13c sunny earlier but cloudy now.Only a light jacket was needed for a trip to town...as regards to elections, well what can I say about here in the UK ? We've had 3yrs of this Brexit mess and still nothing sorted. This has got to be the worst government EVER !!!

When it comes to elections, it is about voting in the lesser of the evils.

Sunny day, a good day to work at the remote cabin. When people dream about those cozy nights around the wood stove at a cabin they do not realize how much work it takes make that possible.

It's got to be worth it though Buff. And it seems you've shelved the move into town, for this year anyway.

'When it comes to elections, it is about voting in the lesser of the evils'

That, Buff, is precisely the problem. In this country apathy rules and that is a dangerous state of affairs. We have slipped into the US model of personality, over policy. It has come down to which side can tell the most convincing lies.

Back to the weather! Cloudy, about 22-24*( seems colder) with rain forecast for the next few days.

I'm not going to bother voting. It really is who can tell the best lies. I have no faith in our politicians at all as they only have their own welfare at heart. They do very little of what they say they're going to do and only care about haranguing their opposition party members. Our government today is a complete embarrassment.

Enough of them already. A drab, wet morning in Northamptonshire. The gardens need the rain too. It'll bring the worms up for the birds and their fledglings. Oh, and the hedgehogs.

It's rainy again today and 7c. I sincerely hope all the thousands of tourists brought a brolly and a set of gumboots... Wait... No, I don't. ;) I'm planning on staying at home and far away from the masses. There shouldn't be many human caused forest fires this weekend!

I think all politician are devoid of personality, empathy, and social/political understanding, lol.

I've spotted baby hedgepig poos in the garden. I might have to do the sleep out. But i'm not sure i like the weather at the moment. I've put my heating back on for the moment. It's chilly again.

It has come down to which side can tell the most convincing lies.

It gets worse, just when one would believe that it couldn't. I'm glad for my age, for I wouldn't want to go through life again in this time period of tyranny.

Okay, enough, the weather was good for work at the cabin, cleaning up from last year's mess. More to do today, +12 with cloudiness.

Carol, I am taking it a year at a time, the longer I can stay here the easier it will be for my finances. I cannot afford urban living should I find myself living longer than expected.

14c and sunny.Do you ever have one of those days when you feel you should make an effort to go out somewhere.but really ca n't be bothered ? I know you do.
I wasn't out yesterday, just pottered about.Trouble is,the summer days are soooo long and filled with Aliens.

I know how you feel, Carol. I only ever travelled inland when i lived in Bude. The holiday season is diabolical.

Lot's more baby hedgehog poo, even in my utility room. One huge hedgie in my hedgie house. He didn't eat the live mealworm i gave him. Strange.

Lovely and sunny again today and no heating on either.

Longest day of the year in a month! Ahgg, i'm whinging already.

I put a full afternoon effort into work at the cabin and things are moving along slowly. I want to raise up the power house for the generator. Don't know if I am up to it today; despite being worn out from the day, I didn't sleep a wink last night as I walked the ceilings all night.
Carol I hear you when it comes to those long summer days. The daylight becomes an unwanted guest that will not leave in the evening, adding more to my sleep deficit.

It is winter but I don't think we have had a day under 20cmax so far and night temps have remained around 17c. A bit cool for just a sheet but way too warm for a blanket. My sleep pattern is very disturbed and I'm waking every morning with high blood pressure despite preventative meds. Ron,

Groundhog day 17c again overnight and 24c tomorrow with showers. Temps possibly getting up to 28c on Sunday.Ron.

Today is shaping up to be sunny and much warmer than yesterday when it failed to get warmer than 7C under gray skies. I didn't do much, but today want to get more work done at the cabin before the biting flies hatch. I figure the pesky flies will be here in less than 2 weeks.

Been lovely again today. My seedlings are coming on nicely. I have a hedgie in the hedgepig house and loads of birds appreciating mealworms, suet, seed and raisins. they have a far more varied diet than i do.

It's 10c with heavy cloud cover. There's a good chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Hopefully no lightning strikes will cause a fire. Two straight summers of wildfires surrounding us is more than enough hell on earth for me.

11c up so far,but bright and breezy.Di., one of our old pond fish died the other day so we bought two tiddlers to keep the shubunkin company. It had actually gone into hiding but has perked up a lot with two youngsters to swim with.

Yesterday was a warm spring day and the first leaves are breaking out on the early poplars, the later trees buds are still tight. Today we are getting some rain with a raw wind out of the east.

I expect you have mixed feelings Buff.A relief that winters over for now but a dread of fires and flies.....:

It got up to 17c this PM which is just nice for me....:cool2:

Overcast, with a good chance of further coastal showers. While our Canadian and UK pals will have a laugh, it is really quite cold at 24* during the day and 14/15* overnight!

Perhaps my damaged vascular system might have something to do with this, nor do I carry much fat on these old bones!

Lovely and sunny again today, and nice and warm out.

My toad is sprawled out lazing in the sun and the fish are near the surface of the water reaping the warmth.

Am loving this weather, but would love Merv's Winter weather even more.

Yep, Spooky,
Where I live is on an island located the Queensland subtropics. About 25 miles south of Brisbane. Ron lives around 2 hours drive from me to the north.

I'm an old jungle bunny from way back, in then Malaya and Borneo. Snow and sleet, well I remember from childhood days in Yorkshire. That biting easterly, wind off the North Sea, or, the memory of rather, still chills the bones. I have lived in the antipodes for 41 years and this is where I'll rest my body.!

Merv.that biting easterly wind off the North Sea is what is known as "bracing".hahaha

17c with lots of blue sky and sun but with a moderately bracing breeze off the sea making it bearable.

Carol you are spot on about my feelings and those of my neighbors about the onslaught of the biting flies that are about to hatch. This is the calm before the storm so to say, I am trying to get as much done outside as I can.
Once they hatch I won't have any interest in using the cabin and will spend more time inside and doing things in the shop, as well as a good house cleaning. Also to go on a trip to visit family.

The blackfly has a well known reputation for driving people to the point of insanity.

Hi Buff,
Instead of black flies, we have mossies and sand flies. The latter is much worse in the warmer months, but never totally disappears in winter.

Local legend suggests that Vit B complex is useful in controlling reaction to the bites. The theory is that the secretions of the vitamins through the skin pores in sweat acts as a deterrent to the little buggers. I wonder whether this would work with your little critters?

Lovely and sunny again, feels like an English Summer. Delighted with this.
Fortunately we never really get biting insects, although i do remember as a child, we do have gnats. Not been bitten in years. I think they are in decline.

I think Buff. was thinking more about a machine gun Merv.:voodoo:

I think that some of the medications I take make me more attractive to biting flies as they seem to really like me more than others. When I visit family the flies in their area go for me more than the locals, it could be that they prefer the flavor of visitors for something different.
They say diet can help, but I find that when I shower less often the flies find me less attractive.

'They say diet can help, but I find that when I shower less often the flies find me less attractive.'

Absolutely true about showering Buff. During my active service years in Borneo ( The Indonesian Confrontation) on extended jungle patrols, any jungle basher will tell you that the longer you were in the 'Ulu', the less likely mosquitoes were likely to attack you. After10 days, rations air supplied after 5 days and minus washing or shaving, you wouldn't even bite yourself!

Sounds like some of the club fishing trips I've been on Merv. I tried very hard to get my fishing companions enthused about saltwater soap. I was constantly having a tub in a tidal pool. At least I didn't have to put up with the stink but the sandflies really loved a little salt on their dinner.Ron.

When Mel Gibson filmed Braveheart in the Highlands of Scotland he used Avon's Skin So Soft oil to ward off the dreaded Midge. They spoil many a good holiday as the Scottish Tourist Board are loath to mention them. I've come home many times looking like I've got a real bad case of measles.

15c and cloudy and just spitting on the rain.It is another Bank Holiday,so that explains it.

Today looks to be a mixed bag, rain followed by sun with another shower to follow, but warmer. The leaves are coming out more and as they do they help cast shade onto the forest floor which helps alleviate the fire threat.

Steady rain but maybe clearing by lunch time. It's a holiday weekend so there'll be lots of disappointed kids who were promised a day at the coast....shame that !

Really overcast today and looking likely to have rain. The garden needs it.
The birds are still singing beautifully and i have plenty of hedgie activity.

Fortunately i've never experienced midges. Used to get gnat bites, but nothing now.

As i write this the rain has started to bucket down.

On and off showers but mild, good weather to be a frog. Been feeling tired and have got nothing done the last couple of days. Today is more of the same, I could easily sleep the entire weekend away.

Trouble is Buff, and the rest off you, is that when you all feel just a bit OK you go at it hell for leather. Then of course ,it catches up with you .Feeling tired is the bodies way of telling you it's ok to chill out.So DO IT !!!

Going for a stroll down to the river then a lazy day reading and TV.

The problem is, if I didn't force myself there would be times when nothing would get done and they would end up carrying me out of here. If I could be the cat then life would be perfect.

I had a busy day. I've been having "cluster headaches" again. It's been going on for two months now and has gotten really quite bad. I'm taking some very strong cannabis extracts to loosen muscles, I started this a couple days ago and it seems to loosen up my neck and reduce the headaches. 23c and sunny. Things are looking up.

Tommy Chong - "You know, I left the country when Reagan got in; I went to France."

Apart from one shower it's been quite nice. The starlings are out their nest, bless them. They just don't sing nicely. They're busy asking(demanding) the parents still feed them.

Knackered myself yesterday and knackering myself today, lol. I will be forced to rest soon.
I'm going to be a spoilt cat next life.

Carol, 27C this weekend apparently. I shall not be knackering myself.

13c.cloudy,no wind.....Hopefully we in the N.E. won't get those temps.this weekend, but I don't begrudge you casting off the long drawers with wild abandon,Di…..

I hope you're watching Springwatch this week and not Simon Cowell and his cronies.

Lovely and sunny so far this morning. Hope temps will rise from today. Well, down here anyway, Carol.

Merv, that's a real temperature drop.

Cmack, that's a real increase. Wish we would get up to that each summer.

Clear, around 22*. Night time temperatures forecast to drop to 7C and 9C over the next two days. That is COLD for this area. Now, where did I store the long johns?

Di's got spares in abundance Merv:ylol2:

17c and a bit warm verging on muggy for me.

Been over to the park and had a hot chocolate by the pond.It would have been perfect except for the hyper kids and screeching mothers...:voodoo:

Was going to do an early trip in the yak this morning but at 5c I decided that it would be unwise. Last time I went out in cold weather (in my tinny) I nearly died. I got my boat and on the trailer and I was just able to make it into the cabin of the ute , I passed out for a short time and it was only the car heater that got me going again. I do not want to go thru that again. I might have to get some waders if I want to fish from the yak in winter as there is no way to stay dry. Ron.

Best to you Ron.It's a bugger when we have to consider the ifs and buts of life, but if it keeps us safe then that's how it must be.
16c and damp.

I have pulled out the shorts, and went out to the cabin as the weather has warmed up and the leaves are coming out. However, the black flies have made their appearance and they are bad this year. I was glad to come home, I doubt I will be at the cabin now for the next two months.

At home behind the washing machine I heard a critter panicking and scratching around. Thought it was in the house, but it was a squirrel that went down the roof vent and got trapped in the sewer. He was desperate, I pulled off the access cover and he jumped out, and created a bigger problem of a squirrel covered in shit running around the basement. However, when I opened the door he went for the light and ran outside outside. Luck critter, and a good ending, he must have been down there the whole time I was away, if I had washed the dishes it would have been his end.

Its getting very dry, and the fire threat is high. We have some fires in the area, notably the big one where they are evacuating people from pikangikum with a 4500 hectare fire. The fire effort has been busy. Not much rain is expected over the next week. The winds are up which is not good.

Hi Buff sorry to hear the fire season has begun so soon, seems only like a couple of weeks ago you still had snow. Good luck , I hope it stays clear of you and Cmack this year, Ron.

No notifications again!

Not as nice as it was yesterday. Planted up some of my small plants. Have given them miracle grow.

No real rain but not cold either.

Ron, 5C? Oh, that is cold for you. You definitely need to whinge about that.

Boys and girls it's been a whopper today! It's 34c currently, (in the shade) and clouding up. Tomorrow will be largely spent indoors with the A/C pounded out to the max...;)

Not much change here. The south got up to 28c+ yesterday but we are still in the mid teens with showers all week. Not grumbling mind you, long may it last.....
