What is YOUR weather like today??

Crohn's Disease Forum

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

Hot and steamy here with more storms predicted today and tomorrow. They are predicting a months worth of rain in a couple of days in NSW whi could result in flooding similar to earlier in the year. No Carol they have called off the search for the man killed by the shark in the south of WA. It seems that it may well have been two large sharks. The mans wife has thanked the searchers and has said that at least he died doing something he loved . Ron.

Really drab and dull here. Had rain overnight. The ground could do with it. Really we haven't had too much rain although it has become very very damp out. it is the cold British damp windy weather that really gets to the bones. Thank God i don't have to do the work you do Buff. My joints would just snap i would think. I really ought to do something to build some strength. Trouble is, when so fatigued in the first place it's really quite hard to muster strength to keep at physical exercise.

Shame about the sharks, Ron, that poor lady she must be suffering. Sad you have hot steamy weather too, can't do the vertigo any good. I'm ready for hot weather right now. Xmas first though.

-4C partly cloudy. Expecting stormy weather and hope it comes as snow rather than soaking rains. The snow should stay, or if it melts it will seep into the ground slowly. Di its an awful lot of work living here, I'd much rather have a place with natural gas, but here we have costly oil and propane, electric heat is out of the question, and impossible to run with the small generators used during outages. Having said that the work keeps me in shape, without it I am certain to have worsening problems. Winters are long and wide here, and heating bills are huge, wood heat changes all that. I see it as a part time job that pays well, and I can do all the work from home.

I tried to sleep last night but with overnight temps of 24c and humidity over 80% all i could do was lay on top of the bedclothes with the fan on full blowing directly on me. Finally at around 4am exhaustion overcame the conditions and I got some sleep. I don't feel like I have slept but that is November in Australia. Flooding rain is falling across NSW and SW Qld. Yesterday a man had to be rescued clinging to a tree in the Todd river in Alice springs , It is the first time the Todd river has had any running water since 2001. Ron.

0C with 5 cms of fresh snow so far. I awoke to snow and its expected to continue through the day and night. I like a good storm, as long as the trees hit the power lines and not buildings. I still remember well the storm that crushed the roof of the cabin, hard to believe that was already 3 years ago it is still fresh in my mind.

Is the Iron Horse in the stable, Chris? That is very cold already, a lot like Buffs. Not too bad today, but i would love it warmer, lol. Having a bit of a flare up at the mo, i'm so out of energy and still feeling somewhat down. Have i thanked you for your support? God, no i haven't. Very norty me, slap slap. Thank you all.

Today i have been scanning suspiciously, all day, my new smart meter. I think it's my new ocd!

The rain came as expected . Many streams in western NSW are flooded or on flood alert. Same in SW Qld . rain fall of over 100mm in 6 hours were quite common . In Stanthorpe where they were having to truck in water last Christmas Storm King dam is now overflowing. I was up a few times during the night checking for water coming in. Fortunately the rain here was steady rather than torrential. Ron.

Yeah, Diane, It's parked. Being my pride and joy, it will be well serviced and polished to a shine for next season. I have a new larger gas tank to fit as well as engine valve adjustments to make, greasing/checking bearings, a new chain slide to install, jetting on the carburetor could benefit from a different fuel mixture and a 5000K inspection of all mechanical components... Plus a new back tire! I enjoy turning wrenches so it's cool with me! ;^)

I had no idea you're the absolute boffin of motorbikes. That'll take care of the next few months or more. I'd be completely perplexed. I hope that garage is warm for all those lengthy tasks, Chris.

We don't have your weather Ron. We did have rain last night but the day is not too overcast and it is somewhat windy. So far, the smart meter has sort of impressed me. I'm not putting the gas on at all yet, but the electric isn't too bad. I'm pleased with my usage and hope to make some savings too.

-2C with 20 cm of fresh snow. Heavy wet snow knocked out the power after supper last night, and its not expected to come back until later today. The generator is getting a good run. Di becareful about that smart meter, after they installed them here our hydro bills sky rocketed. If it were not for the electricity support program to assist seniors and low income people, I would have pulled the plug and gone off grid entirely.

Varying degree of flooding in Qld NSW and Victoria. The rain has stopped in Qld and NSW but is still raining heavily in eastern Victoria. The trouble is many of the rivers are still carrying plenty of water from the heavy rains in March. I had over 70 mm overnight on Thursday , Ron.

-5C Mainly cloudy. Winter has made its presence. The snowfall provided good heavy snowpack that makes for a solid base. I am going to run the snowmobile to pack down the walking paths around the house and parking area. A lot of brush is hanging low with the weight of the snow, I am going to have to chop some of it down to clear the way on the driveway, the driveway is over 150 meters long.

I did not get any water in the flat but the walls are damp and the place smells like a swamp. With the heat and high humidity I find I am living with the possibility of vertigo everyday. Everywhere I go I carry a slab of stemmetil in my pocket. Areas of NSW are expecting major floods today as flood peaks reach inland towns . Same in the Gippsland area of Victoria. The irony is that with all of the rain that fell in SW Qld none fell on the catchment of the major dams which are only sitting at 54% capacity. If there is no more rain we will e on water restrictions by mid December. Ron.

It's been rainy all day here. It was supposed to be snow, however not in the valley bottom. The temperature is 2c as of now and the mountains and nearby benches are covered in snow. I saw one truck coming down from the ski hill and it had about a foot of snow on it. Cheers!

Lovely and sunny this morning. Really appreciating final flings of warmer sun rays. Most leaves are down now and very wet and slippery. It's not dry out there by any means. It's at that stage of decaying leaves are absolutely everywhere and need the good strong wind to dry it all out or sweeping out of the way. Can't say the garden looks good.

Sounds like Aus is getting the brunt of the worlds worst weather again Ron. Sad about the state of the apartment. I hate to inquire but is there a better social housing system with good properties that could accommodate you at your age and health. I only mean changing to another flat, Ron. That sounds awful and you've suffered it the whole time i've been on this site, so around 10 years. Isn't that enough time there?

Buff, hope you enjoy getting out and compacting snow. Glad you've got enough for the trip out.

I see Carol also took the weekend off. I expect she has some weather being a Monday morning.

There is always weather somewhere. Flood peaks have reached several towns in the mid west of NSW overnight. A few flood rescues , but not as bad as last year. Trouble is they are expecting another 30mm in the same areas over the weekend. The wheat and barley crops were ready for harvest and losses will be high in the lower laying areas. Ron.

Dreadful when they bring crop loses throughout the final weeks of growth, Ron. Nothing worse. There's crop shortages happening all over the world and with shipping and delivery drivers everything is a burden piling up upon the world. Funny thing is, it just wouldn't matter at all to any other living species. They dont need to fell trees, unless it's a beaver, they don't need sea travel, they don't grow their own, they don't need anything transported, they keep warm or migrate of their own undertaking, but with humans on the planet life is entirely different. I think Buff has it right, we all need to use as little as poss and leave a very little carbon footprint around us.

Carols laptop is def on the blink i think. Dull and dreary out. No sign of sunshine today, but no rain either. The birds are returning for more in the way of food as the cold draws in, and they are singing nicely of an evening now too. It's nice to hear.

-7C blustery with a flurry. Its a mess in BC, many of the mudslides have been caused by clear cut logging on the mountain slopes, perhaps they will learn a thing or two about the damage clear cutting does. Chris has not been here, I hope he is okay. I don't think its any one thing, the real problem is human overpopulation and no politician is willing to bring up that conversation.

We have been watching BC storm damage on the news Buff. It looks bad and I hope Chris is ok. I agree with you completely, space ship earth is badly overloaded and we are throwing all of the lifeboats overboard to make more room. It is the doomsday situation that population experts started warning about in the fifties and now it is here and still the politicians of the world turn a deaf ear. We owe earth a big apology for what we have done to it. Ron.

Present! -7c and snowing at the moment....The T.V. and internet have been down. Everyone here is safe. Finally the internet works so we're streaming T.V. with a ROKU stick. (internet T.V. basically). There is devastation all around us, thankfully we got the rain and wind but were still on high enough ground to stay dry. Thanks for caring you guys. My best to everyone.

BC does look horrendous, Chris, so pleased you and family are surviving well enough. The videos on YT are amazing. Think Carol might be cycling over to share that internet with you though.

Yes, we are so overpopulated it's gotten ridiculous now. China are allowing more children per family so we'll soon have another couple of billion people. We are short on crops these days too. Oh, well. So, another dull colder day. I'm restricting my gas use as it's gone up loads. i'm not too cold at all really. Getting very dark at 4.15pm and i'll close the curtains soon enough. Just over a month until the days get lighter mind, i have my eye on the calendar. Not long to go rofl.

I don't have much to contribute (weather here is pretty consistent ... windy ... ), but I truly enjoy the banter between y'all

One thing my wife has been doing is throwing a clean change of clothes in the dryer on medium heat for five minutes
(this polycythemia thing is kicking my butt, I feel cold all the time )

... it's delicious to put on a prewarmed article of clothing ... takes the chills right away:)

cmack, does your offer of IT help cover us lurkers?
My lenovo t420 is a bit long in the tooth and getting glitchy.
Thanks in advance!

-7C The population here keeps going up as plane loads of immigrants move here. I find it interesting when in conversation they say that after living here for awhile that things are not any better here than at their home country and some do not stay and return home. Glad all is well Chris.

It's snowing here and -6c. We got a couple inches last night and it looks like we're gonna add a couple more today. The T.V. repair man comes tomorrow apparently. Thanks again for the concern folks, I appreciate it. I'm really feeling awful for those who lost everything. B.C. is in for a real rough time for the foreseeable future I'm afraid. My best to all.

Another dull day. Can't believe i'm thinking about the xmas tree in the brick shed. Not sure it needs to be there. I could do with some glitz and glam to cheer up my dark evenings, dare I? There is one house with decs outside already, i mean, there is always one isn't there?

Hopefully Carol will find herself a computer to communicate with us, lol. She'll probably need help with that too, Chris. We all need help. Why couldn't microsoft stick with XP or 78? I miss my animated paperclip! Bring back clippy. Thats what i say.

Can't believe covid has risen significantly in Europe and Austria are making the jab compulsory. I think Europe are just doing the last wave that we did. They do seem to trail us. I sincerely hope that it doesn't rise again here.

More rain heading for the east coast of Australia including flooded areas of NSW. They are suggesting we could be in for another 80mm in my area. I don't mind if it falls on the dam catchments as long as it misses my area. Ron.

-3 Sunny. I was checking the trail yesterday and its bushed in for as far as I tried to walk from the last snowstorm. It will take a long time to clean up. These types of storms happen every few years, its natures way of pruning the forest. She will knock down the weaker branches and trees, making room for the healthy growth. Di I miss Clippy too, why would developers kill him off I wonder. I dislike the constant updates, just when I get comfortable with the operating system they have to change it, much like getting into a new car only to find the peddles reversed and the steering wheel gone.

It's -4c here and sunny, with around three inches of snow on the ground. The T.V. repair man came and everything is back up for the folks... I don't know if they could have handled missing any more of their favorites... ;^) My best to everybody.

A much more noticeable cold out now. Down to 6C at 1pm and the fish in the pond don't want food so i think they are feeling the bigger change too.
All the apples have fallen, shame i can't eat them, but the neighbours do. I'm off to my first Xmas market of the year on Tuesday. It's at Blenheim Palace and is usually a really good place for gifts etc. I don't really have to many to buy gifts for anyhow but i do enjoy going around and looking at all the hand crafts and art etc.

Lovely and sunny out, but our cold weather i think has now arrived. Most of the leaves are down now, so more skyline. However, the low lying sun in the sky can be problematic for driving. I don't enjoy not having clear sight and being blinded as you travel around a corner. I really hate that and slow right down. Even sunglasses leave me struggling. Sometimes the bright light makes my eyes hurt a tad. Fortunately this phase doesn't last too long.

Hope you don't have to bale out, Ron. T-bone, i forgot where you are based.

-12C sunny and fresh. Its the coldest morning so far this season, the frozen lakes are setting up along with 4 more cms of snow. Its winter. I may work cutting fallen trees off the trail; the ski trail will soon be ready, but it must be cleared first that will take some time.

Sounds like you're getting a feel for the weather that allows the winter activities that you enjoy so much Buff. But i suppose the ski trail needs gardening each year after the summers growth. Hope it's not too hard going and that you get to enjoy that snow mobiling.

Plenty of rain overnight. It is usually when we continuous steady rain for a week that my flat suffers Di. So far so good. The first cyclone of the year formed yesterday off the north WA coast. It is only a small cat1 and not expected to cause any problems anywhere. I have never been skiing so I've never bought any ski gear. A lot of Australians go to the ski fields every year, barring covid but I am not one of them. I will leave that to those that enjoy it. Have fun Chris.Ron.

I struggle with this as well.
I've been keeping an assortment of hats, up to an including a sombrero, in my car for exactly this reason
My go to is an old panama hat, but there's about twenty minutes in the morning and then again in the evening that are pretty miserable
That's when I break the sombrero out ... gets some funky looks but it flat works!

... the switch to daylight savings time makes it exponentially more impactful
old indian chief "only the government would cut a foot off the top of the blanket only to sew it back it onto the bottom and call it longer"

Hope you don't have to bale out, Ron.
this, ... so much this!

I know you'll adapt and overcome, but I hope it's not too impactful

T-bone, i forgot where you are based.

VERY rural Colorado

Not in the mountains like everyone always thinks when they here the word Colorado
My wife and I lived at the top of a mountain at ~9200 feet for over 30 years, 16 miles from county maintained roads
We'd routinely get three foot snowstorms multiple times a month ... sometimes the same week
My wife just couldn't handle the winters anymore (and the stairs in our old house didn;t help at all)

We're out in the dry grasslands now, on some acreage ( think kansas/colorado )
it's so flat you can watch your dog run off for days

My wife loves it out here, and we've got an awesome community of honest hardworking old school neighbors, albiet they are not right next door

It's ironic that the city folks look down on us as "the poors" out here, but there's a sense of community I have never seen anywhere else
... nobody will everr go hungry out here ... we take care of our own

'tis what you make it, and for us, it's heaven on earth

Weather report is in for the next couple of weeks . Pacific is in La Nina for the second year straight. We are expecting quite a lot of heavy rain in a fairly short time but they also expect it to last up to four months and at least eleven cyclones to form over the season. In other words it really sucks, Ron.

-10C Cloudy. The trail work is worse than I thought, the entire trail is covered with fallen trees of all sizes from the heavy snowfall last week. I managed to do only 150 meters during the afternoon. I'll have to work my way through a little at a time, parts of it are so bad that its hard to see the trail for all the debris. Ron that forecast really does suck, that kind of heat and humidity would do me in quickly. Tbone, I hear you on day light saving time, I'd rather take the morning light anytime. An earlier sunset means a longer evening to de stress from the day.

It's -6c here and we must have had sleet or freezing rain in the night. Everything is coated in about 1/4'' or so of ice. Time to put on the hockey skates and head to the Post Office... LOL! It would probably be easier than driving... Where the heck is Carol? I think she must have gotten fed up with the laptop and cracked it one... Seriously though... I hope she pops back in soon.

Been very sunny and cold out lately. I loved Blenheim Palace. The palace was decked out with the nutcracker theme. I've never seen so many decorated xmas trees around the place. didn't think too much of the xmas stalls though. On the whole a really good day.

Unfortunately my ca 125 has spiked upwards again. Feeling a bit down over it, but not as bad as i thought. I suppose we get a few years to get used to the idea of cancer being around. I don't have much purpose these days so i can't complain. Europes numbers of Covid are heading upwards so i can't see me getting a holiday for a while. Don't think i'll be offered more treatment for a while what with 13 million awaiting their treatment. They tend not to bother too much with those over 50 and with stage 4 so i hope to finally sort all i need to sort now and live minimally. I do wish i still had a cat though. Tis gonna be especially lonely this xmas.

Carol, i'll contribute towards another lappy, come back, we miss you, lol.

T-bone. It sounds like Heaven out there. I fully comprehend about the youngsters thinking rural dwellers are poor and lacking intellect. Little do they realise that they are laughed at for their high costs and difficult living in built up, more criminal areas. I've seen lots of youtube videos on Colorado. Looks lovely. Any bigfoot sightings? Love that Native saying, it's true but hilarious. Oh, and the dog running off for days. Big skies then out there.

We have had rain every day and it will be ramping up over the weekend. Plenty of rain in NSW with major floods along the Lachlan river . Good luck with the cancer Di. It is a constantly in the back of your mind and it never gets easier. I will be out to 24 yrs in Jan and have another colonoscopy in April. Ron.

Could be signs of snow in the UK today. Certainly is cold out now. The birds are ravenous at the moment. I'm hoping to catch some wind in my wet washing again today. Well, i shall be lucky to manage that, but i'll give our weather a shot at putting it to good use now energy has gone up. Yet another energy company looks to have collapsed under the strain, it's Bulb, i'm with them so now will probably be transferred to a more expensive one. There is no end to the price hikes at the moment.

Ron, i've not heard you mention rain so much in years. Don't be drowning out there. Stay cheerful everyone.

Yes Di it is bad, Several cars were washed off culverts in central Queensland ,one man was drowned. It is bucketing down along the whole east coast of Australia. Many of the forecasters are saying that they have never seen rain like it. I am over it.Ron.

it's getting colder as the day goes on, and the wind is picking up and the windchill is getting ugly

Did telehealth with a new provider earlier this week.
... I'm starting to wonder if anybody has a sense of humour anymore

I've been having some anomolous labs for quite some time
.... like really anomolous ...

I'm seeing specialists in fields that don't even have names yet, they just group them under "blood disorders, unspecified"

I asked the doc that since he's never seen it before, if i get get naming rights
... sigh, didn't even get a chuckle ...

Di, you're an inspiration to us all !

Sure wish there was a way I could get you one of my barn cats

My wife was feeding the one that came with the farm, and evidently, he told the the cat world where the soup kitchen is

Most of them are pretty feral, but even tho i'm not a cat person, i made friends with a beautiful siamese that is just so playful and affectionate
I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but I sure hope you can find another furry companion, if you so choose

...i'd be lost without my dog ...

-15 overcast. I managed to clear the trail down to the creek where the ski trail branches off from the cabin trail. Some more snow and the ski trail is good to go. I just don't know how far I will be able to ski given I am having a hard time consuming enough food to provide the calories, I am in a calorie deficit situation of late. I am going to go back on those energy shakes again.
Di perhaps its time to adopt a new cat. Years ago when Jake passed away, I couldn't go two weeks in the empty house without the cat, the place felt like a mausoleum.

-5C with a flurry. Good thing you are on the higher ground Chris, the pictures coming from the flood zone are awful. Here the weather has been pretty regular for the time of year. Better motility today, maybe the new honey helps, and the cat is snoring on the recliner.

I can just imagine that lazy cat, Buff. All snug and warm and cosy. I wish i was. I awoke to snow flurries and some settled, was 4C. It did pass as the day went on, but it's pretty cold out there. The Saturday shoppers are already hustling for their Xmas shopping, not me. It can wait and i don't really have anyone to buy for these days, but i do enjoy seeing the Xmas lights and happy kiddies.

How long do they reckon BC will be like that, Chris? Like Buff said, thank God you and your family are higher up. That's wonderful.

It wont be until late spring or even mid summer that the major freeways, highways and bridges that have been destroyed are fixed... It's bad. Thanks for asking, Diane... It means you care. XX We're being cut off from the supply chain from almost all sides and it will likely go on until summer if not longer. Everything around here is either frozen or freezing up fast so that really complicates construction. There soon will be several meters of snow and ice in and around some of the most severely impacted areas. I will hunt if we run out of food. It's -3c here at the moment... not much else to say. Stay safe everyone.

More rain today. In western NSW some towns on the Lachlan river will be cutoff by floodwaters till after Christmas. Warragamba dam Sydneys main water supply is overflowing for the second time this year sending floodwaters down the coastal streams. Several of the east coast streams flooded earlier in the year are once again breaking their banks. The cases of ross river fever are really high in SE Qld thanks to the flooded areas and swarms of mosquitoes .Ron.

-5C a few flurries, standard weather for the time of year. On top of the weather problems many are enduring, now the new variant is showing up in many countries, I hope the vaccines can keep up. I don't think you could go wrong hunting Chris, the quality of the meats found in stores has deteriorated to the point that some of it does not look or taste like meats. There's a huge difference between wild partridge and domesticated chickens. Hope you have a wood stove, I would not want to rely entirely upon utilities in the situation BC is presently in.

It is still raining in Qld and NSW with moderate to major flooding in both states. One town just south of Mackay in north Qld received 303 mm in the last 24hrs. we are expecting more showers and storms in our area and further south in Brisbane. We are seeing a lot of infrastructure damage across the eastern states with a lot of roads and bridges suffering damage. The grain harvest in both Qld and NSW has been halted and a lot of product lost to water damage. Things are looking a bit grim for a lot of areas on the eastern half of Australia. Ron.

-8C gray. You should be fine Chris, a home is not complete without a woodstove in this climate, and they go a long ways to reducing the heating bills. Yesterday I accomplished a lot of trail cleanup. I may do more later today. I hope your apartment is holding up to all that rain Ron.

Wow, Chris, sounds just dreadful. Fancy all that water turning to ice! Omg, it's going to make peoples lives so miserable for the next 6 months at least then? Just awful. You'd be right to get the gun out and go hunting, Chris. Bad you've been cut from around and about. Sincerely hope things don't get too bad. It's a vast area affected too.

Ron, sounds like Aus is getting a lot like BC. Is there no end to it? Well, the snow finally vanished this evening. It has been cold and the pond has iced over twice now. The birds want a refill feed 3x per day and i don't like going out there now it's so cold. Not Canadian or Colorado cold, but British wet and cold through to the bones type of cold.

Carol. Come and borrow my puter.

Another night of heavy rain in Qld with several rivers in western and eastern Qld in full flood. I am very close to flooding but so far have not reached the critical point. Although the rain has been torrential it has come as showers and storms with dry periods in between allowing some runoff. We are seeing a lot of areas in the country that once the rain has passed it has been replaced by heatwaves with temps over 40c. It is getting harder to strike a happy medium. Ron.

Doesn't sound good at all Ron. Like BC the ground and buildings will take a long, long while to recover and regain its former balance. The ground simply isn't used to such regular water logging as it is nowadays. Our planet will go down to one big boggy mess before we know it. I hope your summer rescues plenty of land for crops and livestock and wildlife. Even marine life suffers with extraneous muds in water, tree roots suffer, well, everything suffers. Sad.

No Carol lately still. I'm gonna cycle up there and tell her about my weather! It's actually far more mild today, no signs of snow, no ice on ponds either. A bit more like normal for this time of year. Feeling happier about that.

-3C Partly cloudy. The neighbor and I managed to do a large section of trail yesterday. Today I am soar from it all. Spooky I have great respect for British cold and damp weather. Its the kind that chills me to the bones, which our dry cold does not. While the flooding and misery goes on around the world, the logging has been going on here day and night. When we get a north wind the sounds of the saws killing the indigenous boreal forests comes right through the walls of this house. The planet is under siege.

Heavy rain over night in many areas of Qld. Some towns were evacuated. Falls ranged from 30-180mm overnight. we had another 44 mm overnight. Nearly every east coast river in qld is in flood. With the ground so sodden and all the rivers so full it takes very little extra rain to result in flash flooding. People have been told to stay off all roads because of dangerous conditions. Ron.

Sounds absolutely dreadful Ron. That's an awful lot of water running about. Buff, I don't think i could cope with the continual noise of saws going on. Poor wildlife. Do they actually replace the trees they fell? I must admit i do have a neighbour who loves to do his engineering next door. Was like that at the last place i lived too. It's actually quite a mild 10C at the moment which is warmer than earlier this week. All snow has vanished too. Our Omicron (omigod) variant is on the increase and an awful lot of booster jabs going on. We've yet to see how bad this gets. Stay safe all.

It poured here today. The creek thru town could not take anymore and it overflowed . It covered the street beside the shopping plaza and then filled up the under cover carpark. A lot of cars got drowned, but no one hurt. At least twenty different official rain gauges around the south of the state recorded over 100mm for the morning. They have had to evacuate whole towns, some entirely. The trouble is that's not the end of the flood in the inland towns. The flood peak just moves on to the next town downstream. It's a mess.Ron.

Yes Di ,second year of it. I did not suffer too bad . The gutters must be full of leaves and the water came down thru the walls from upstairs and wet a lot of my documents. Nothing that won't dry. At least the computer stayed dry. Ron.

-4C flurries. The neighbor and I worked on the trail again and we are with in 500 meters of the cabin. Going to step back from the work as my arm is soar from it all. Di, when they use the term replanting, they are not stating the truth that once replanted the forest that stood before is no longer, but rather a tree plantation for the purpose to serve as an industrial crop to feed mills. Herbicides will be applied regularly, for controlled growth. Hang in there Ron.

Ron, i'm so sorry for you. As we get older it's hard to find energies to continue with the weather giving us issues. God, i used to be able to just cope with stuff when i was young. Just took everything in my stride, even with Crohns. These days i do find things much harder to get done so find anything that causes floods, mess (like storms) and all sort quite disruptive in my mind. I just don't cope so well. You're probably like me and don't ask nor pay for help. Life is difficult.

Buff, it's awful they use pesticides on the new forest. It will do nothing for nature. We just ruin it. Give those arms that break they deserve. You can't keep slogging your self to death.

Chris, more rain?! Omg, just dreadful. I have no idea what to say as i've seen so much of that really extensive flooding going on out there. They speak of people not getting wood and coal supplies through to keep warm. That is one disaster area. I so feel for you all out there. I'm just pleased that you live on that hill. It's got to be some relief, unless you're worried about landslide. I would be with that much rainfall. Not that i'm trying to worry you, i'm not. I would be panicking with all that water surrounding the whole area.

I awoke to snow again. It's very sunny though which is nice. Hopefully the snow will simply melt away. Rather chilly now at 5C, and my energy company has also gone into special administration as the energy crisis continues. A little worrying. I might take a plane to the North of Canada at this rate. Bit of wood to keep warm, some lovely nature to adore and admire. God, i'd be happy. What a simple life.

It did not rain today but we have more showers and storms expected over the weekend and next week. Not the same volume as this week but even a little is probably too much at the moment. On the other side of the continent they are getting temps in the low to mid 40cs . The new covid variant is already here. Apparently we had active cases even before South Africa warned the world about it. We have high vaccination rates and a lot (including me) have had the booster as well. I guess we will see what happens. Ron.

-7C flurries. Life is difficult, I thought through retirement life would be easier but it is not. Aging slows us all down and makes mountains out of small issues, and larger problems can seem insurmountable at times. One just has to slog through it all one day at a time. Having said that I am grateful that I do not have to rise and drive to work in the early morning darkness.

It finally quit raining... For now, at least. It's been a beautiful sunny day with a high of 12c. Tonight it's supposed to drop to somewhere into the double negatives... We shall see. Diane, I'm on such a big hill of land it would take a lot to sink us. A plumber built this house in 1955 and he clearly knew what land to purchase! Huge shout out to the old plumber... Smart man!

-10C with a couple of cms of fresh snow. Chris I too live up on the side of a hill. My first house was on low flat land that had a lot of biting flies, and the well water was not very good. That inspired me to find my second home on higher ground. The only issue I have is the challenge of carrying groceries and supplies up the hill, but the excersise I get from doing so helps keep me fit.

Had a day out at Lincoln Xmas market and it bucketed down on us. Never known anywhere so crowded, and even with Crohns i waited over half an hour for the loo along with pregnant women and distressed children that went in the street in the end. Omg, i didn't enjoy it and i'm pleased to be home and drying out. Around 5C today.

It was -6c this morning and the light, powdery snow began before dawn... Everything suddenly got sunny and the snow stopped around lunch. We have risen to around the freezing mark with huge snowflakes starting to come down as of now. Amount of snow is around 3 inches at this time. Tonight it's predicted to continue snowing and drop a little lower than last night. My best to all.

Looked like we would be rain free yesterday but at 1100pm a wild thunder storm came thru and rattled the rafters. One came thru earlier on the gold coast and ruined the Lord Mayors Christmas carols .Half the tents got flattened with wind gusts up to 147 kph . The show was called off early so there were no injuries to the crowds. Overcast and very stormy looking this morning. Ron.

Chris, you're so funny. But yes, that wind is damaging. Fortunately we rarely get those. We've had rain overnight, nothing like Aus or BC, just fine rain to water the ground. Really overcast and only 7C but i can't complain really. No issues here really apart from up north where some have been without electricity for some days now.

Thats funny, I can see it, zip... gone in a blur, that was Chris! -12C expecting snow later. I put the starter battery into the snowmobile as snow conditions continue to build. Last night was clear and cold which made the frozen lakes bang and grunt as the ice thickens. There is enough ice to go ice fishing. I will be skiing this week as the forecast is essentially winter. I wonder how Carol is making out with the laptop.
