What is YOUR weather like today??

No halloween out here where I live, but if I lived in town I would put up a display and have some fun. I would buy one of those two story inflatable black cats as seen advertised and make a couple of 'enhancements'. Since it has that long tail, I would hook it up to a garden hose along with a motion sensor, so whenever someone walked close by; a bright yellow lamp would come on at the same time along with the stream of water through a solenoid valve on the hose to create the effect of a cat spraying. But its only water made to look yellow by the lamp. I love kids, and I'm sure that would make smiles, along with a generous supply of goodies. The world has become so anal retentive, we all need a break from the routine with a good chuckle and some chocolate to loosen up.
Summer like, 10C but its not going to last long.

Turned out nice again...we walked down the bank to the quay, lots of people and cherubs hahaha around as it's half term.Didn't stay long and bused it back up....there's no way we can walk up steep slopes now ,we have trouble on flat surfaces...I asked the driver if he could drop us at the door, as we were the only passengers, but he declined....worth a try though...as me mam in law used to say "shy bairns get nowt"....

It was a summer like day, instead of working around the house, I went out in the canoe, observed the two muskrats playing in the water and the ducks beyond, the water was calm as glass. I am not so steady on my legs anymore and just about fell in to the water when stepping out of the canoe at the beach on the other end of the lake. There was a lot of rain last night, and its cooled off down to the low single digits.

Hey Bufford ,I know the unsteady feeling well , maybe time to put a handrail where you get out of the canoe ,
It's the small niggles that are getting to me ,pulled a calf muscle about a month ago and its still not right, got paranoid about it yesterday and thought it was DVT ,so went to the ED just in case ,
Got the D Dimer test and all was good ,miraculously I was in and out in two and a half hours ,
Dull day here ,14C but it feels cold ,went ou for a small walk and feel better after it .

Another good day with temps above average and clear blue skies...we had a walk along the river but not down the bank.
There are better views from up high,,,out of the piers, across the sea to the horizon. Not many fishing boats in so they're either catching....or not. Really bad floods in Spain and Taiwan,.....what a mess and the tragedy of lives lost of course.

I have to watch my step, as I havn't bee very steady for awhile, I sleep on the main floor, and have done so for a few years now, stairs are not my friend Tony. The canoe, I'll just have to watch it, I am not quite ready to hang up the paddle. No canoing today though, we are expecting the first snowfall. Its cold enough for snow this morning -3C

14c but no sun today.....we had a slow walk across to the park, but even there we have to think about our route as there are
banks and steps etc. we were hoping to see a neighbour who has just got a mobility scooter. We did see her but the new wheels are still in the shed.Believe it or not she got it because she's got 3 dogs, one which is a year old spaniel, which she cannot manage as she's never bothered to train them. She has a bad back and knees and arthritic hands so she's going to walk them while on the scooter !!! her friend's coming tomorrow to help her with a trial run....silly mare (not the friend)

I hope your friend has a good medical plan Carol, that plan has all the flight characteristics of a dog house. But the idea of a mobility scooter is a good way for people to get out more. We didn't get the snow, but it was cold last night down to -8C. Hard to believe it is already November.

The clocks went back last night, and now we have brighter warmer mornings, along with a longer evening with the earlier sunset. Mild for the time of year, 5C expecting rain later.

Yeah, unfortunately the time change has messed us up and will take us a bit to catch up. Both my husband and I work swing shift,, so will be a bit tired today. Oh well, we'll survive!!!
58 degrees here and sunny right now. It's supposed to rain though later on.

In those conditions a snow shovel maybe good for throwing water at each other to cool off. The weather here is in a holding pattern too nothing very interesting, just the same thing over and over. The election south of us is over, perhaps we will feel the effects of lower prices and some relief both at the pump and at the grocery store checkouts. 2C Mainly cloudy.

The weather has been repetitive, but from the looks of the weather maps, there is cold air building up in the north. It won't be long before that descends. I am going to look at snow throwers; a small one I can manage that can assist me with snow shoveling. 0C mainly cloudy.

The winter blues is settling in , need some sunshine even if it comes with cold weather , 14C today and misty rain ,
Have to turn on the heating just to keep the damp air out ,
How is Billy fairing Carol ,his books are really funny ,
Check in over hey Carol, Bufford and Cross-stitch gal.

It feels warm enough but it's drizzly.Got the bus into town for a few bits, which could have waited, but it's an hour or so out.We walked back though Les is really slow now,and of course I have to walk at his pace.I don't know how he'll be when the weather turns
wintery as he's not a fan of the cold since his chemo etc....but the local taxis are good'......bought another Billy book today...Windswept and Interesting his autobiography...My darling mam would be horrified bless her..I can hear her now saying "Eee our Carol, that's terrible" then ask to borrow it.

I am using as much of the good weather as I can before the weather turns. Hopefully the rainy period will be short as its the worst of the worst. I don't mind the snow as long as we don't get back to back storms. With the snow I can do things outside, ski, shovel, or snowmobile, but rain brings out the worst with that damp cold, and the depressing darkness. But for now, I can still get around in sandals, even out in the bush. The nights have been very clear, and the stars are so much brighter than they have been all year. 0C sunny, and warming up.

It still makes me smile 0C and outside in sandles ,we would have thermal underwear and socks and fur lined boots if we were out in those temps ,
They grow them tough up your way Bufford

Same here CSG.....Shorts are still on show over here...I wonder if they're just saving on the laundry ? Having said that our day temps are still in double figures C........Buff would be running around in his budgie smugglers.
Full cloud and 11c today but we're promised sunshine tomorrow after more than a week of absence..

I see people in the stores wearing shorts, and t shirts too, often in sandals with barefeet like the big guy last week wearing a muscle shirt on a cold windy day at the grocery store. I don't know how they do that when I am feeling the chill with a jacket, long pants on with warm socks wearing my sandals. When working in the bush as the case was yesterday doing trail cleanup I wear sandals and barefeet wearing a cotton long sleeves shirt, and long pants. I get warm doing work and my feet feel fine, they carry away the excess heat, and there was ice on the pond. Often when there is a layer of snow only a cm thick I will still wear sandals but with thermal socks. Sandals are light and nimble, whereas heavy boots are tiring and can make me loose my balance, and the last thing I need is a fall.
Light rain 5C, but they are calling for snow and wind tonight.

It was a dark dismal but quiet day yesterday, went for a walk and the forest was so quiet one could hear a pin drop. Stark contrast with today, I awoke to snow, high winds and a power outage. I started the generator, went back to bed with the cat cuddling, then got up and made a big breakfast. Now the cat has the bed to herself. Light snow, 1 cm -3C windy.

We've had two days of the promised sunshine and 11c temps. Because we've had no wind for a few days quite a few leaves are still hanging on and are lovely in the sunshine. We took some monkey nuts to the park yesterday, as well as seed for the little birds, and had a great time with the squirells and crows and magpies, talk about getting mobbed....

The weather improved as the day went on yesterday, the skies cleared, and the night chilled off to -7C. Its clear this morning and warming up. They are hungry little buggers at this time of year Carol, just be careful you don't get bombed.

I still have to get the flu shot, I've been putting it off. I've been hesitant after my last afib event that lasted an hour that seems related to the covid shot. Each time I had the covid shot my heart gave me problems with in the first week after getting it, those lasted minutes, but when it went on for an hour and left me exhausted it gave me reason to be wary.
It's gray, damp and cold. 2C

I got my flu and covid shot a couple of weeks ago and I had a rough 24 hours , lots of covid flying around at the moment here but its the flu im more wary of to be honest ,
my gp practice is doing my head in at the moment , there's two doctors there , one is my doctor and the other one seems to think I have a drug problem as instead of giving me a repeat script , she gives me a monthly one as she's "not comfortable" giving me a repeat , the problem drugs are small daily dose of xanax and SEROQUEL for sleeping ,
now im 65 and falling apart at the seams , but this is really annoying , i have so much stuff to organise for my meds and i like to just have most of my stuff on a few scripts as possible ,
possible revenge im seriously considering is just asking for each item individually meaning they would have to write out at least 20 different scripts a month , too far maybe , anyway RANT over for today , 12C with small ammounts of sunshine , time to get out for a walk with the dog (princess Ellie), hope everyone doing ok .

The problem is that politics has entered both the doctor's office and our medicine cabinets. At the core of it is that the focus has turned away from patient's needs to that of addiction. The amount of needless pain I went through after surgery I consider to be a victim of the system ignoring the needs of the patient and their current situation they are in and enduring. Its wrong and criminal for patients to be in undue pain for believing that everyone should be lumped into one group being compared to addicts. Its both insulting and ignorant towards a patient's needs. It leave patients without the tools they need to pain control.
The problem we have today with politicians is that they lump individuals into groups instead of seeing people as individuals. Everybody's needs are unique but the medical system does not recognize that. It was not like that when I had the first surgery, My pain was well managed, and as I healed I had no problems tapering from the pain meds.
Back in the hospital last May, after enough complaints about pain, they put me on the morphine pump that only allowed minimal dosing that could barely touch the pain. After a stern discussion with my surgeon I finally got percocet that would work properly. When I went home one week post op I was given a prescription of only 20 percocet tablets with no refills. Fortunately my family doctor who knows me provided the needed prescription of percocet or else I would have been walking the ceilings.
The pendulum of the nanny state has gone too far, with addicts getting all the attention while patients needs are ignored and we suffer in silence.
Tony, keep persistent about your needs, don't let it go. Age is on your side, use that in a life experienced manner as most doctors are only a fraction of our age. I see many as inexperienced young people. I have in the past told them in no uncertain terms how I feel, and for some they may have had to change their underwear after I left their office.
One other thought is to research this more online and write to the officials. I have done so, but its a long uphill battle, but I refuse to sit and live in pain in silence knowing many others like myself suffer.

Totally agree Bufford , nanny state all over , im still laughing at the changing of their underwear , your're a man after my own heart , I have a friend who had to take this approach with the same doctor and as we would say here , he threw a few @#cks into her and she relented , he's 83

the funny thing is like you after the op I tapered off the heavy meds (palaxia like oxy) quickly and returned over 100 of them back to the pharmacy because I personally don't like having to take anything heavy as I had two younger brothers who died from heroin overdoses , I think I might report her to the medical association here as from word of mouth I'm not the only one this is happening to .

Try magnesium supplements to help sleep....I've been taking two a night for a few months and it works for me...I also take Ashwaghanda to keep me calm (re: Les )....If I ask for Solpadeine at our local chemist ( I have chronic back pain and take 2 per day)
I'm given the 3rd degree, while the local addicts walk in and are handed their daily Methadone without a flicker!!!
The weathers been kind so far this week but they say we're in for a wintry spell any time now.

Given what we all have to deal with, I believe we are living in the most difficult times in mankind's history. The world is one big cage ran by a bunch of chimpanzees with powers. We are having an undue quiet warm spell, it could well be that winter will arrive shortly. There is quite a bit of cold arctic air building to the north, and any day it could move in. There is no end in the work that could be done around here, but I'll do what is needed, as I cannot do it all. 3C Sunny.

5c and falling, but dry so far. Having an "at home" day, now.we honestly can't walk fast enough to keep warm now.Well I probably could, but it would mean leaving my darling trailing behind, then I'd have to wait for the bugger to catch up........ I might get him something with wheels for Xmas, maybe skates then I could pull him along on a rope

Hey everyone beautiful day sunny but there's a bite in the wind 6C ,
Sorry about all the moaning the last few days ,back to normal now and will suppress my feelings like any normal Irish man 🙃.

Oooo Baby love....it's 3 degrees........started sunny but did nothing to raise the temp....Went over to the park to feed the birds and squirrels
and ducks, but we probably need a wheelbarrow full to fill their little bellies.Great fun though

The calm before the storm. I better go outside and do the chores that need to be done, heavy rains are expected, and after that it will start cooling off with more seasonal conditions meaning winter may well be on its way. Yesterday I cleaned the chimney, but forgot to warm the chimney with a little fire to create positive draft, since I clean the chimney from below behind the furnace. As a result I had soot everywhere, I was black, I even had black hair and beard making me look 30 years younger. I looked like a coal miner. Memory is not one of my stronger traits. -2C Sunny and calm.

Well at least Santa won't get dirty when he drops off your prezzies....that's if you've sent the elves your list and been good of course.
We don't do xmas at all. It's just another day for us......3c again with plenty sun. There has been snow in parts so no doubt everything will grind to a halt.

Yesterday was a nice day, I got a few things done. Today its raining and raw, power went out during the night, so I had to get the generator running for breakfast. Life would be miserable without the invention of generators. 2C windy with sideways rains.

back up to the doctor today , was on a 24 hour bp monitor , have to up the bp meds , getting fed up of doctors and drugs now , ah anyway up to my favourite Canadian dentist tomorrow for some fun and games ,
weather not bad today 8C but with a nasty wind , no walk today but will have to start swimming again (in the wetsuit , boots and hat ) need to clear my head , hope everyone is ok , even a little bit helps

We had a lot of rain, and it appears the ground absorbed it all which will be good for the well. The generator got a good run too, it now needs an oil change so it will be ready for the next one. First snows are always a wonder Carol, it could be any day now for the snow to come, there has been snowfall going on in the prairies to our west. I'm sick of doctors too Tony, but good that you are getting back to your swimming routine, it will build up strength. I am going to be scheduled for ultrasound for my hernia, when who knows. I hope they can surgically correct it as its affecting my ability to do things. Fortunately my application for the senior's driveway snow removal service has been approved. Its a new service never done before, I hope it will last.

Rain, rain & more rain from here!!! Right now it seems to be dry though for the moment! Our highest is supposed to be about 54 today though. All is alright here. Just getting more and more stressful workwise the closer we get to the holidays. Everyone else gets so excited for them, while I can't wait for them to be over!!! Pretty sad really...

Its wet enough for ducks, but they were smart to fly south. I changed the oil in the generator, and that was about the only productive thing I did all day. I may change out the old fuel in the snowmobiles and start them up, something I should have done long ago. But when its wet and gray its not inviting to work outside. 2C drizzle.

Bitterly cold day -1 feels like -4 , a day for the fire or a pub with a log fire , but my boss won't let me out to the pub so listening to rock music played classically and munching on mince pies , diabetes be dammed

Tony, I'd say be darned and go to the pub anyways, one needs a little bit of a time out, but the mince pies sound good. I got little done, we had another power outage in the afternoon, so the generator got to stretch its legs with the new oil change, and I stored a few things away for winter. I have some dead trees down from the storm to cut up for firewood. Glad the storm did it safely for me, as they were not simple to cut down given how they leaned.

Hey Bufford, pubs are too expensive here in Ireland and I don't drink anymore anyway ,but I can still dream and remember ,good times
but no more hangovers is even better ,
Big storm going over us in the next 24 hour ,mostly heavy rain but some wind , hopefully the neighbours trees will stay put .
5C and calm .

I cut up the fallen tree yesterday to clear the fire line, more work today to make sure the driveway is clear of loose firewood for the snowplow service. We had a dusting of snow overnight, and its decidedly colder. -3C. Tony I've cut back on my drinks over the years and decades incrementally, now a bottle of scotch can last a month. I still enjoy that warm feeling it gives me, I just need very little now. A rum and orange juice in the evenings is like a little bit of summer.

we've been very lucky regarding storm Bert....A dusting of light snow and a day of rain on Saturday which
washed it away. We've had two days of sunshine with a chilly wind, but parts of the country have had it really bad with flooded homes and shops, and railway lines, also land slides etc...so we have nothing to whinge about so far

Yesterday was so rainy and wet that the roof was dripping inside the store. We were using a bucket for the rain water, although sometimes it was missing the bucket because people kept picking the bucket up and messing with it in the robot checkout that was closed down. Today so far it looks like there is blue sky, although the forecast says it's supposed to rain and be 52. They say later in the week it's supposed to be down to the 30's at night.

Unfortunately, I've got a cold again! One thing I've gotta love about these biologics!!!

Your store sounds like our supermarkets where we shop every week. It's good to get most things under one roof but not as nice and friendly as it was in our towns. There are no hardware stores only one clothes shop and the greengrocers is rubbish. It's all vape shops, nail bars, coffee shops etc now.The big stores have a lot to answer for. We've had a bus ride along the coast for a change, but not much better,The heavy cold rain didn't help but it was a change of scenery,,,,Have a good Thansgiving.

Yeah, for the most part even though my rear would hurt if my work heard me say this...

Pretty much all grocery stores are mostly the same, just a little different. There are a few changes in each sometimes on what they may carry. But, otherwise that's pretty much it! Thanks! Will try to relax a bit tomorrow, just getting everything (including my injection instead of tomorrow) done today. Hugs to all!!!

7c.....positively balmy here Buff......To be honest I've just started buying some stuff in bulk,,toilet and kitchen rolls, dish washing and laundry liquid etc,all the bulky stuff, delivered to the door so that I can consentrate on the important stuff, like chocolate and ice cream at the shop....kidding hahaha

I had the ultrasound done on my hernia, now the wait for the results. That is a good idea Carol. I've been thinking about shopping online for the heavy stuff like kitty litter. That way they will load it into the truck for me instead of having to load it on the cart and into the truck myself. Its winter here with no sign of it letting up. 5 more cms of powdery snow overnight, -10C

Hey everyone, was under the weather the last few days and blood pressure is up ,I was eating so called healthy wholemeal bread and discovered that each slice had 1.5 grams of salt , Anyway I'm mostly off processed food and upped the pills so we'll see how it goes ,
Hey Carol ,Bufford and Cross 🪡 Girl ,
Election here today and all candidates and parties are idiots ,
Weather is miserable 12C windy and wet ,
Will try and go for a swim tomorrow, supposed to be good for the BP .

Magnesium, olive oil, and garlic are some of the natural things that can reduce BP.

Glad to see you back. I hear you about the idiots to be elected, we have had to endure ten years of it. Walking the beaches and taking a swim. The garlic is a good idea too, is good for the gut and BP.
Its cold, I went for a walk and the dry air felt good. -13C

Good to hear that you are back to your swimming routine Tony, we get to live life once, so might as well live it well. Its been very quiet, on the chilly side, but on the eastern side of the great lakes which are really seas, they are getting over one meter of snow, with impassible roads and wide spread power outages going on for days. The cold dry air flowing over the warm water fuels snow squalls that can dump several cms of snow per hour. Hope those folks stocked up on food n scotch and enough fuel for their generators. -10 C with a dry flurry.

Had another swim today and doing good., BP down and getting used to saltless food 😝, sun was out as we headed out and as soon as we got in the water the heavens opened , still enjoyable ,
12C not and looks like a cold night and a sunny day tomorrow 😎

Horrible day here....7c but feels a lot colder in the strongish (is that a word ?) breeze. and raining of course
.
Sink hole has appeared in Wales with the latest heavy rain, probably an old coal mine. Why would you build / buy a new housing estate over old mine shafts ? Mass evacuation just in time for Xmas, poor souls

Same reason they build house along flood plains and wonder why their houses get flooded ,
Hey Carol 👋, a bit of everything thing today weather wise , sunny and warm ,then dark ,broody and cold and heavy showers that could drown you in seconds , all in all a normal winters day 😀,
4C overcast with occasional sunshine ,
Did the site change or did i do something ? Quoted Carol and didn't show ,
Anyway just took my bp and it was
118/77 , delighted to say the least .

That's a good reading Tony, well done......1c here and grey,No good forecasts for the foreseeable either,Shops are getting to be no-go areas so it'll be tinned beans and soup for us xmas day,,,I kid you not.....

Nothing wrong with tinned beans and soup Carol , love beans esp with a couple of fried eggs and chips , seriously the shops are nuts at the moment , people buy way to much food for Christmas but end up just eating it and buying more ,
food wise we never had so much , was talking to a friend the other day and we were remarking as you do , that growing up for us there was very few heavy (can't say fat anymore) people , I wonder why ,
we walked everywhere , stayed out nearly all day in the street (countryside) a book came from a library and you got two every time you went , games were conkers, marbles , cowboys and injuns , and made forts out of anything we could find , baths were once a week and we were all happy playing in the dirt , allergies were unknown and you only went to the doctor if your legs was falling off ,
they are all too soft nowadays , rant over , my inner Victor has subsided , hope Les and yourself are doing ok Carol,

I really went rambling on this one 🙄

Those were the good ol days, everyone spent more time outdoor and socially interacted with one another instead of sitting around using electronic devices. I still live like the old days, go for walks, knock on doors for casual visits, hunt, and cut and stack a lot of firewood. This place has a different feel now, one bug it has is the big empty space on the right side of the screen, instead of the whole screen being used.
Expecting snow, -10C

And choices were simple...white or brown, sliced or not.crisps plain or with a little blue bag of salt....no wonder going shopping is like a half day trip

I agree with your comment re: screen Buff.I'm a techno phobe and there's a PM for me from an old crohnie that I can't reply to...will have another go later....
