Canadian Crohnies - Remember to VOTE!

...get out there today and vote, everyone! This is one of the more exciting, hopeful federal elections of the past 15 years. I don't really care who you vote for, just keep in mind that HEALTH CARE is a big issue for us... take a look at the party platforms and it should be easy to figure out...

On Humira and wondering about moving to a different province.

Maybe try calling the provincial health department of Ontario? I am going to try calling Progress(Humira) this week, they have been helpful in the past with questions about coverage - they might know something. There is a definitely a way that we'll be able to continue treatment, we just...

    Well, here goes nothing!

Hey, ballerina!! Glad to hear you are coping with your jitters by being productive! I've had two colonoscopies so far, I'm sure there will be many more. Especially if you DO have Crohn's, it is recommended for us to get a scope every 5 years. Tonight, the fireworks will begin ;), so have...

    Pyoderma Gangrenosum

Hi Tara, sorry to hear of your ordeal!! I don't have any personal experience with PG, but I know there have been others here who have had to deal with it. How are your doctors treating it, do they give you anything to help with the pain? I hope you feel better real soon...

    Paraniod/Anxiety

I would agree with the possibility that it could be due to the particular 'strain' you are using... I am a long-term, regular cannabis user, and sometimes I find a particular bag I pick up will make me more paranoid than usual. It could also do with how much you are smoking. Maybe this...

On Humira and wondering about moving to a different province.

Hmmm, sorry, I don't have an answer for you - I do have a similar question, though. I'm planning to move from MB to QC. What I think I'll do, is stock up on 3 months of Humira before I move, so when I get there, I can make the switch and still have my medicine. Haven't exactly figured out how...

    In a lot of pain

Awww, happyballerina, sorry to hear you are having a rough time... :S A lot of us have been there, for sure; I know where you are coming from. Be sure to keep drinking water so you don't dehydrate, and try to rest as best you can. *hug* and good luck!

    Might be starting Humira....some questions

Hi TxGirl, I've been on Humira for the past 14 months. The only side effects I have had are itching and swelling at the injection site, which seemed to have calmed down over time. I skipped taking prednisone with my last injection, and the reaction was not nearly as bad as it used to be...

What is your preferred method for administering cannabis?

I still prefer smoking or vaporizing, because the effects are almost immediate, and I can adjust my dosage. Lately, though, I've been experimenting with edibles and made a VERY strong batch of brownies... almost TOO strong!! I still had a little bit of the potent butter leftover, so I made...

    Need help, fast

I vote the stool softener and lots of water, too - a laxative might make you have to go, but if what you have is compacted, and it's very hard - you're going to end up with a fissure on your hands. Well, actually, your bum. Good luck!!

What are you most looking forward to doing this summer?

The highlight of my summer is going to be the Osheaga music festival in July! Great bands in my favorite city. http://www.osheaga.com/en/ They announced the lineup yesterday, and while it's not as great as previous years... It should still be a good time! VERY excited. :D I think I'm...

    Humira side effects

I still get injection site reactions, but taking a small dose of pred on injection days helps me out with that. Otherwise, nothing of note.

Please excuse me, I just need a moment to whine and feel bad for myself. No reply necessary. It's time to do my shot (actually, I'm a day overdue), and I just DON'T WANNA!!! Ughhhh!! I know - I know I have to, I know it makes me feel better, but dammit - I am SOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo not in...

When did you start noticing that something was wrong?

Really interesting thread, guys. I would get tonsillitis every year, at least once a year, sometimes twice, while living at home. My dad was a heavy smoker. Even after I was diagnosed with asthma at 16, he would not stop smoking around me in the house or car. It was miserable. Guess what, I...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lot2c10bJv8 Found this interview where he talks about being diagnosed with Crohn's, and how he used his time in hospital to write music (I like the part where he says it was like an art residency - a free one...) :)

diesanduhr - I know exactly what you mean, it's not really 'cool' that he has Crohn's, but since we all know the kind of stuff he has had to deal with, and that he managed to put together a pop record - well, that IS pretty cool!! David - Well, you DO know me!! Thanks!!!!! ;) Joan - You...

Anyone who knows me, knows I love music of the indie-rock persuasion. I was listening to this record by Diamond Rings... a discovered a fellow Crohnie! And, Canadian, too!! Check out the following review: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14829-special-affections/ Here is a YouTube...

    Replacing sugar with honey

A few things to note: -You can't replace sugar with honey in everything. Generally, quick breads (such as banana bread and muffins) will do fine, but cakes and cookies will not turn out the same. You will need to reduce the amount of another liquid to get the same consistency. -Honey weighs...
