Has anyone out ther expierenced fluid retention as a reslt of Crohn's complications? I recently had a CT completed and the result was one foot of small bowel is diseased but I wasn't told where to proceed or what my options are. I have not been well for some time and go through bouts of being able to eat then as soon as I eat something it makes me sick to my stomach. My GP has told me due to the inflamation my body is not absorbing protein or iron well and this is causing my fluid retention. I am on water pills to assist but the only real wa is to build that Albumin level back up. I was told this can take a month or longer. I get really depressed when i retain water and try and do everything I can to relieve it but nothing seems to work. I have an appointment with my GI in 5 days so I will see what he says. I am at the point where I am getting frustrated at him for his lack of progress. Basically I just want to know of anyone elses expierences with the fluid retention (if any), and low Albumin. Thanks in advance for support and advice!:sign0085:

I've had fluid retention with Prednisone. There wasn't a thing I could do about it other than to stay away from extra salt as it tends to increase the retention. If you don't like the pace your doctor is going at then you can get a second opinion. I'd say that most of us have dealt with fluid retention on this forum at some point although I've never taken the water pills or had the option to do anything about it other than wait to get better from my meds. If the inflammation is causing the retention then you need to take something to bring the inflammation down.

I know my replay was late cause I've been out of town. What options did your GI give when you went to see them?
