Hey everyone i have had problems with my stomach etc for about five years now well the other day i had an colonoscopy and it said on it " insertion limited by acute angulation the scope was retroflexed in the rectum.Mucosa mild erythema perianal lesions."i got a call the other day from an IBD nurse saying i have an appointment this monday coming with the IBD doctors but she would not tell me anything all she kept on saying you can have a long chat on monday with the IBD doctors who will explain everything to you my question is basically have i got an IBD? Surely this means i have an IBD? right? am confused just wish they would of told me over the phone....

Thanks everyone for listening

I'm no doctor but I think you are probably right in your assertion. Inflammation and lesions in the colon or bowel would suggest you have IBD. The question is probably one of whether this was only within the colon (which will mean Ulcerative Colitis) or was it throughout the bowel (which will make it Crohns), and to what severity.
Either way, you will know soon enough. I hope that this diagnosis will bring you some relief, as knowing and understanding your condition is half the battle (the other half will be finding an effective treatment).
I think its best to think about this diagnosis in terms of "well I've always had it, now I just know what it is and can take measures to fight it", that's how I dealt with finding out.
Anyways, I hope everything turns out for the best Phill. You've certainly come to the right place for support and reassurance in regards to living with IBD.

Hi Phill and welcome!

Ditto above - sounds like you are correct in your interpretation of the results. And it's a shame you have to be waiting so long to talk to the doc! Good luck with your appt and getting a dx and working out a treatment plan.

Keep us posted! - amy

Phill - It sounds like IBD to me, too. What a way to find out?!

Go prepared to your appointment on Monday. It helps to write stuff down. Questions may include:

1. UC or Crohn's?
2. Where are my affected areas?
3. What additional testing will be needed (endoscopy, blood work, imaging)?
4. Treatment/diet plan?

It may also help to bring someone with you. You'll have a lot to absorb, and a second set of ears will be helpful. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
