Ive been diagnosed with Crohns for 2 years now, still unable to find a treatment to settle it. I started Humira in January, I wish I hadn't, Ive no end of UTIs and tonsillitis and I just generally haven't felt well. No antibiotics can sort my UTI, they cannot grow any bugs from my urine, just traces of blood in there. Theyre sending me for an ultrasound of my kidneys but that could take weeks.
I just feel like I am going round and round and I am miserable!!! Is it the Humira causing this?!

gmcgregor8 - My girl is on mtx, not humira, but I'm starting to wonder if it has weakened her immune system and making her more susceptible to viruses/infections. In the past 2 months she's had a UTI, stomach bug that landed her inpatient, sore throat/cold, and now a sore throat/possible ear infection. I think I'm going to ask for a CBC and maybe you should as well.

DS has had regular blood work since dx including CBC and many other things.
Remicade and humira have not caused any issues with these.

I have blood tests every month and have extra this past month after being ill but nothing has shown as far as I'm aware. I rang my consultant and told them Im not taking Humira anymore, I'd rather be in pain than have all of this added illness and stress on top. I lived with the pain for 4 years so I am used to it.
Ive recently been told to try going gluten free, even though im not intolerant. As it is difficult for any one to digest so by cutting it out it will allow your gut to relax a bit more when eating but im not sure if this works?! I'll try anything at the minute, Im considering acupuncture too!

Desperate!!

Johnny had blood in his urine, protein too but no white blood cells. They checked for kidney stones with ultra sound and he was clear.

His ended up being kidney disease (likely IGA nephrapathy) They said he will likely always have blood and protein in his urine.

Because there were no white cells they did not think there was an infection. They tested his urine for the type of protein and one of them was albumin so they know the kidneys had inflamed glomeri that allowed protein to leak through, albumin is a larger one so they knew others were present without testing for them.

DS's Nephrologist and GI had lots of conversations about whether meds could cause the blood and they both felt it could not. 6mp is actually a treatment for IGA which is why they aren't doing a biopsy because they would likely treat him with what he is already on. It would be our only way to confirm exactly what type of kidney disease he has and possibly how severe it is but the risks didn't seem worth it (Nephrologist agreed) Fwiw, the nephrologist said the blood was not enough to cause anemia or have any affect on Johnny's health. As long as things don't get worse he will be fine and we just have to be careful of meds, tests, etc that may be hard on the kidneys.

Nephrologist mentioned some kids have protein in their urine and it is normal for them, blood he did not feel the same way about.

Hope you get some answers soon, this particular ride is not fun. ((((Hugs))))

Hi gmcgregor8, welcome to the forum. :) I've copied your posts here into our Humira subforum, as you may get some better responses in here. You did nothing wrong, I just don't want your posts to get lost in that other thread!
