Madhu, Wow, wow, and wow! Gorgeous pictures (including the one of you). You've been everywhere! And I'm soooooo jealous of Antelope Canyon, never been there myself, but I love slot canyons. I've been to all the other places you're taking about, though. It sounds like you are near Zion National Park, one of our favorite stomping grounds. If you have a chance, you might want to see that too! I also wish we weren't still several hours away from you, as we are slightly north of Salt Lake.
Cat, you're inspiring me, I think I'll get the ol scrapbook out. Wish you felt better, hun.
Mandy, (or any of you) if you ever get to Salt Lake we'll have to show you around some of the slightly north of Madhu's current touring areas, where there are other slot canyons and natural arches in stone.
Having a lazy day, was even too lazy to take a non-reality day. Monday night be another story (holiday here in the states).

Ron, that was kind of you to ask about us. We are slightly on the mend. Wish you felt better too.
I also forgot to say, finished "Wuthering Heights." Not the ending I expected. Winning!

Safely home again. Funeral was really good, and a great family catch up with aunties and heaps of cousins. 24 days till my Gi apt, pain everyday now with low grade fevers. Can't wait till we get things back in remission. That whole burning pain on the insides is a little tiresome. I feel that in four different locations, and swallowing is still an issue as are the sores in my sinuses. 24 days to go [emoji3]

Hi peeps..well im official 54 yrs one hour old!!! Jeepers how did that happen and why did nobody tell me i was getting old
Hugs to all :ghug:

Eeek, I've been trying for a couple hours to access the website which is the only way I know how to upload images, but it is apparently down for maintenance. I can't use the image I wanted to Mandy, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

It is care coupled with knowledge born of experience and authority that is doctoring
It remains the very ethos of medicine.

Brilliant Sandy, wish I'd thought of it.

Among the questions set in a school test was one that asked pupils
"Why does a surgeon wear a mask when performing an operation"?
One 12yr old wrote "So that if he makes a mess of it the patient won't know who did it"

Thanks Trysha ☺

Amen to that Sandy...we are starting to build our xmas sets now!!!
Its a big job n takes.a couple of mths to complete oh for the xmas fairy to just do it overnight lol ..

Sandy, I am definitely on board with that as well! I went to the craft store yesterday to buy yarn and they already had some ornaments out for sale. Why?? It's only Labor Day! It's not even officially autumn yet!

Doesn't make sense.

Happy Birthday Mandy!

I am definitely not ready for the holiday season to begin yet.

I finished my scrapbook! I've also crocheted 2 scarves over the past couple of days and started on a new blanket. That's something to be said for pred, it definitely helps me complete projects. :p Winning!

(Cat, I haven't finished anything for ages, do you want to share your pred? :ylol:)
I'm a little (ok, a lot) disappointed today. Our non-reality day (fishing) turned into a non-non-reality day. We spent about four hour's travel time going to two reservoirs only to find non-existent beaches from lowering lake levels especially at the first (and therfore not accessible to me who can't walk very many steps or down steep embankments), plus wall to wall people (expected somewhat, but not to that extent), and at the second place, after we paid $10 to use the state park facilities, found they did not allow dogs down by the water (I had ours on my lap when we paid. Grrr. They did give us our money back.)
But, what can ya do? We'll probably have our non-reality day Friday when most people are at work and school so will just look forward to that.
At least the heat has turned down a couple notches.
Hope all of you are as well as can be.

What a disappointment for you all Sandy. But life's like that sometimes and there are better days ahead to look forward to.I bet the fish were relieved though.

Sandy, in my Kindle, I saw a free book called Return to Wuthering Heights and I thought of you.

Ron, Wuthering Heights is also a free book on Kindle (it's in the "free classics" section on amazon). I read it myself, wasn't a super fan. I didn't find any of the characters to be likeable. Just my opinion! I'm glad I read it, I like to be familiar with the classics, but I wouldn't re-read it and didn't particularly enjoy it.

I remember reading it in my high school British Literature class. It was required reading then. Never thought of reading it again, and was surprised Sandy decided to read it.

Hey Doug, you never told me you read it!😨 (And to think of all those times I kept comparing Heathcliff to a certain person we know :rof:). You also just don't remember much the days when I used to read; my stroke happened only a couple of years after we were married (of the 21 we've been together). I've always loved the classics (in this case I was glad I had my built in dictionary with it.) My version of "Wuthering Heights" was the Kindle version, now I'm going to have to peruse their other free books. Knowing that Emily Brontë only wrote the one novel, it's interesting there is a "Return to Wuthering Heights." You made me smile by telling me about that, tho, Ron. :)

Cat, I also have to smile at your comment you just didn't like any of the characters. I read somewhere that "Wuthering Heights" wasn't well received in the day the author was still alive because it was considered too dark. The commentary went on to say that isn't applicable for today's day and age. I remember telling Doug if that book wasn't still dark, I don't know what is. But still, I enjoyed reading it.

Hi all just showing my happy smilie face.😃
Feel better soon those of you that dont feel to good. Keep feeling good those of you that do.
Big hugs n love...:ghug: 💚💛💜💖💞💝

Vent time. The starter on my car died today and I spent a frustrating few hours waiting for the tow truck, then waiting for the repair shop to figure out what's wrong. Of course they can't get the part they need until tomorrow so I'm currently car-less. Not that I'm going a lot of places in this flare, but I do need to pick up my pred and more broth so I guess the hubby will be my chauffeur when he gets done with work. (Fortunately we just replaced his car with a newer model, so at least we have one reliable car right now.)

Why do car repairs cost so much though? It's just the starter. It's almost $400 though with parts and labor! That seems ridiculous to me. I can't afford it but I need my car so I gotta pay it. Such a racket! Does not feel like winning! :(

Oh nooooo cat not whats needed at all.. thats the bit im dreading now iv got a car again 😕.
Might have to rob a bank hun 😃lol. 💕💕💋💋

Mandy, don't worry too much, your car is brand new. My car is 15 years old with nearly 200,000 miles on it! She's always been a very reliable car, so it frustrates me the handful of times she has let me down over the years. And being in a flare, I just did not need this stress today.

Funny you should mention robbing a bank though, I was reading a book about John Dillinger while waiting for the tow truck to arrive! :p

Ha how mad is that hun.. did u pick up any tips lol. 😃
Well my car is not quite brand new its 3yrs old but it is pretty new .
You have done well tho if yours is 15yrs old if its only failed u a few times.
Ye u dont need the extra hassle right now hun. I really hope this flare settles soon n you get some relief
Big hugs 💕💕💋💋

Nope, no tips, I happened to be reading the part about where Dillinger was gunned down so not exactly a happy outcome there. :p

3 years old is practically brand-new when it comes to cars, I think your car will be just fine for years to come. We just bought my hubby an 11 year old car (newer than his 17 year old car was) - it seems like a new car, it was my grandmother's car and she barely drove it so it runs and looks like new. Yeah, my car is 15 and I actually bought her when she was 3 years old, so she's been with me for 12 years and I can count on one hand with several fingers left over the number of times that she's failed me! Once when the shifter cable broke - the car would start but wouldn't go into any gear so obviously wouldn't budge, and once when the battery died during an extremely cold winter... and aside from today, that might be it. She has been a really good car overall. I hope she lasts me another year or two. I know the day is coming when I have to send my car to the junkyard, but hopefully that day isn't happening super soon.

Sorry i had fallen asleep Cat ...aw how cool your hubbys new car was your grandma's car, least you know it was looked after well, and should last for a long time to come as you say its like new still.
Hope your car is still a long while away from the junkyard hun.
Hope your soon back on the road 🚘💕💕💋

Hi Cat, long time no talk, tip for next time your starter doesnt go, hit with something hard, hammer if you have 1, wheel brace, stone, most times the brushes are worn out, hitting the starter dislodges them enough for 1 start, maybe 2, prevents needing a tow truck. I am sure cars are designed to keep us broke, no wonder the are named after females.

Hi Trev.how you doin'?

Cars are named after females because (mostly) they're comfy and warm, men sigh with relief because they're there, and if you look after them properly they wont let you down.
ie: an occasional shine and an oil change = a new dress and a meal out,

Very eloquently said Carol...
It's hot ..hot..hot...here today into the 30s but increased to forties with the humidity factor
Air conditioning is really necessary for survival...the city opens cooling rooms so you can cool off while out and mostly for people without a/c.
Just finished part one of my exercises in the gym...bit tougher today what with the weather.
Yesterday the neurologist injected six areas of the occipital nerve with a mixture of gabapentin, amytryptiline and lidocaine...to bring the migraines under control.
He tells me that this has been a successful approach....and also prescribed a cream with the same formula to apply daily.
Hope it works....
It's interesting hearing about cars and their problems...thanks Cat and Mandy.
Kirsty..hope you are recovering from all the travel
Sandy...how are you feeling? Hopefully better
Onward and upwards...
Winning.........

Trev, I've heard that in the past, about hitting the starter with a hammer. I had several issues with doing that, though. I didn't have a hammer with me at the time, and I have no idea what the starter looks like or where it is! :p I suppose I could have borrowed a hammer and just started hitting things randomly, ha ha. It seemed like a wiser choice to just call the tow truck and let the professionals deal with it, though.

It's a lovely rainy morning here, cooler than it's been. It's also my 14th wedding anniversary today! And, it's the day I can start introducing foods again after doing 2 weeks of EEN. So to celebrate, I'm going to have some jello. Winning! :)

Trysha what can I say, other than it would be wonderful if all the tests and trials work for you.If it does we'll have to send Sandy for those injections for the migraine. But I have to say they sound mighty painful ? I don't know how you can bear those temps. It's been mid twenties here the last few days.We went on the bikes foe an hour and I had to keep stopping the wipe the perspiration from my eyes and off the tip of my nose. I can't ride one handed hahaha.

I needed a password eight characters long...so I picked Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.(nothing to do with cycling I know, just thought I'd put in in while I remembered )

Enjoy being back on some solids too 🍰

Hi Carol..the injections are not so bad as it seems, the needle is quite fine gauge so it is really not so gruesome as it sounds...also the lidocaine local anesthetic is swift in action.
It was different to the ones I had six weeks ago....at that time I developed a series of daily migraines and said to myself never again with injections.
However he gently changed my mind and said we need to know where the migraine intensity came from .i had to agree with that..so I consented to the injections.
So far so good..no migraines but a bit headachy still.just have to wait and see.
Cheers to Everyone..
Winning......

It's cold today. Just had awesome hail storm. Waiting to get bloods done. I get to see hospital registrar next Wednesday. That's better than being pushed out to 5 October due to my gastro having a holiday.

Kirsty..I would love some of your cold temps...it is unbearably hot and humid in our neck of the woods.
Good news that you don't have to wait so long for the appointment
Hope they can do more for you so that you can live a more stable life without the misery illness brings...especially with all its complexities.
Been there...done that ...and would you believe I have five different specialist appointments
this month plus one GP visit.
The appointments accumulate into one big snowball effect because of unconscionable wait times.
Shouldn't complain though..they are all very good thank goodness.
Hope you will soon be feeling better..
Winning...

Got my car back! All fixed now. And I got to eat today! Jello, broth, and a few potato chips. I had one episode of urgent watery d, but only one episode. And it was right after I had been doing a bit of cleaning in my basement, so I think I just overdid it on the activity. It was also fairly shortly after eating jello, so it could be that the sugar content set me off. At any rate, things have been going fine since that one episode.

Project-wise, I'm already halfway finished with crocheting the blanket that I started on Sunday! I've never made so much progress on a blanket in such a short time. I definitely have pred to thank for that! :p Definitely winning!

Thanks for the thought Mandy.......hope you are still enjoying the new car
Cat...that's good news of some improvement for you....keep it up
Still so very hot here in the 30s....no let up...humidity is unbearable
Winning......

Humidity is terribly hard on me, hope you get some relief soon Trysha. Happy Anniversary Cat! Anyone had a DEXA scan? It's on my schedule for tomorrow to figure out where I'm sitting with the hip and back degeneration the X-Rays picked up. Long term high dose Prednisone...the gift that keeps on giving.

Thank you Shanen....I think it will be a few more days to be less extreme weather...
I have had two dexa scans.....it's a breeze..u
You just lie down on the table and they position you ...it's usually more than one position.
The last one this year showed a small degree of osteoporosis..and I was told to take the specified amounts of calcium and vitamin D ...also magnesium for migraines.
Another is scheduled for about this time next year.
Good luck tomorrow...hope your bones are in good shape......prednisone can present problems....
Winning........

Hi Shanen ye iv had one too. As Trysha say piece of cake. No tunnel/doughtnut type machine.
Hope results are good for you hun 💕💕

Cat glad you have your wheels back ☺.
Trysha yes im enjoying it, except for the queues of traffic ..lots more on the roads since i last drove lol. 😃
Kirsty keep safe in those storms.. Trev you too.
💕💕

Happy late anniversary Cat! I ate a couple potato chips (crisps) in your honor. And I'm glad your injections are helping so far Trysha! Hoping it keeps helping. Also glad your appointment is sooner rather than later Kirsty. Even tho we get the heat, I am extremely grateful we don't get the humidity here like so many of you. I'm also glad when I see pics of the ocean swells and waves near Wellington during your stormy weather, Kirst and Trev (and others), we don't live in a coastal area (but I would sure like to be closer :ysmile:). The ocean already terrifies me a little with all its power and might, but amazes me at the same time. Do stay safe Kirsty and Trev! Our neighbors from NZ are going home Saturday, and I'm afraid it's going to be a shock to them after all this dry heat. Super duper nice people and I will miss them. (We've had some nice visits and they go to our church as well.)
As to how I'm doing, it changes minute to minute. I've had some migraine days, but it seems like it's back to my old regular patterns and not having one continuous migraine day after another, so I'm glad for that, and can deal with that much better. But I seem to have so many things going on for so long, overlapping, some little, some big, most in-between, I'm just tired, as I'm sure most of you are with your life long conditions that never go away. Every week at church (when I go) someone says to me "it sure is nice to see you up and about" and tells me how good I look and I want to slap them silly because I really only feel a fraction of a degree different than when I don't go, but instead I smile and say how good it is to be feeling better myself. What can ya say?
Ok, enough of my rant.
Madhu, I hope the rest of your trip went well. Shanen, I hope with your testing they can do something for you. Keep both hands on the handle bars Carol. Mandy, both hands on the steering wheel. Ron, :)

Thanks for the info on the scan. I'm claustrophobic so I was a bit worried about it. Good luck with your leg today Ron. Stay safe and well all.

Carol although Snow White+etc would be very easy to remember don't you think it might be a bit convoluted for a pass word?..........good thinking though
Kirsty..thank you for the lovely awesome winter pictures it did help while I was looking at them..but came to earth with a bump once I finished.
Shades of things to come for us in Ontario...winter can be a hazardous time.
Mandy..interesting that the traffic increased after you took to the road again....if you don't see people climbing lamp posts then you must be a good driver......
Sandy thanks for the encouraging words
Ron hope your leg will be amenable to treatments
Shanen..hope the scan went well for you
Winning........

Not to much to say for myself today. We're having a weekend in Edinburgh for our anniversary and have been packing and preparing etc.

Oh how I wish I was one of those folk who can just chuck stuff in a bag and go.

I prepare for every conceivable occurance and have at least 3 lists to cross off.

Talk about making work for yourself.I'll be back by Tuesday unless we decide to go further north, but of course I'd need another list for that.hahaha.Keep safe and happy my friends.

The doctor says it is nerve pain. I haven't been able to pick up the medicine yet. Congratulation to, scottsma on your anniversary

Well nerve pain is a pretty nasty pain Ron,so try to get started on those meds soon, and I hope they work for you.You probably don't know but all of us on LOWs are doing the UK marathon next year,no excuses ,so get in training.......

No one climbing lamposts yet Trysh.😆
Hope the meds work Ron.
Enjoy the trip n happy anniversary Carol.
Sandy hope the migraines continue to abate even more.

Big hugs to all 💕💕💕

Scottsma, I hope you mean a Netflix marathon! :p That's about all I'm capable of right now, ha ha.

I'm working on it. I'm up from twenty-two steps last month to thirty-three per day. Let's see, how many steps in 26 miles? I think I'll make it, just in the knick of time. :ylol::rof:

Have a fantastic time on your anniversary trip, Carol, and congrats!

Made a blueberry/spinach almond milk smoothie for lunch today, my favorite one to date. I added a few walnuts and absolutely loved the way it tasted. Winning.

Happy Anniversary Carol! Netflix marathon is about my speed also. A smoothie would be fabulous with movies.

I'll bring my nutibullet and my juicer for those that can't handle the fiber to the marathon. :rof:

Sandy, when I went to Tokyo Disneyland in April, I got my most steps in one day that I've ever gotten on my fitbit. I had just over 25,000 steps! I believe that was about 12.5 miles if I'm remembering right. If my math is right, that's about 2,000 steps per mile. A full marathon is 26.2 miles. So a full marathon would require 52,400 steps! Yikes! Not happening for me, in this flare the most steps I've gotten in a day is about 4,000 and that was me trying to walk as much as possible. Even when I'm healthy I usually don't get my 10,000 steps per day. Over 50,000 steps?? Nope! I'm currently at just over 1,000 steps for today and I'm trying to talk myself into walking the dog around the block later so I might make it to 2,000. But I won't get more than that on my fitbit today.

He he, I was being facetious, Cat. And lol, I just got back from walking the dog (I usually don't even do that because she is in about the same shape as me, very arthritic, bad tummy, and has a seizure disorder, plus sleeps all the time). In addition, I have bad lungs and a not too great heart. (But all the more reason to exercise.) And "spastic legs" and weakness due to blah, blah, blah.
Seriously, at present my goal is to walk 1100 steps per day (just recently moved up from 1000 per day). Pathetic isn't it? I can't even imagine right now walking as much as you did in Japan. I used to be an avid hiker, however, back in early adulthood and into my thirties, and during Jr High and high school days I would get up early and go running most every school day. I was quite fit and trim then. (Not now, even when I recently lost 30 lbs due to tummy problems.) But still, we all have our own set of issues to work with (and on in my case) and I have many things to be grateful for.
I'll bring the juicer etc. to the Netflix marathon. But I'll probably fall asleep as I did in the last movie we went to. (The newest Star Wars movie. Doug, and his brother who was with us at the time, are fans.)
Hope you feel better soon, hun!

Still battling a flare but I braved a salad for lunch today. Will see how the gut reacts in the next 24 hours. Winning.

Sandy, when I was in Japan, that was the best that I've felt all year and the most I've walked by far (so maybe not a good gauge of how the rest of the year has gone). I walked SO much in Japan but it actually felt really good, like I think I just need to walk as much as possible to achieve & maintain remission. We were averaging 8 to 10 miles of walking every day that I was in Japan. The food sat really well with me, I was having usually just one formed bowel movement per day, my belly was completely calm the whole time, it was just great. We even walked up the entire mountain at Fushimi Inari! That was tough, ha ha. It's the shrine with the 10,000 orange Torii gates, but they don't really tell you ahead of time that you have to walk up and down a small mountain in order to walk through all the gates. So that ended up being a loooong uphill walk! I enjoyed it though and am so glad I was able to do it. I'd love to get healthy enough to be able to do walks like that again. Right now it's a good day if I can walk a lap of a store and do a short walk with the dog.

So what kind of juice are we having at our Netflix marathon? ;) I can bring whatever low-FODMAP foods! Rice, rice pasta, rice crackers, rice crispies...

Doug, yikes, salad! I wouldn't dare try that myself yet, you are brave! I did have tuna salad just now, but I don't think that counts as actual salad. It was just tuna, mayonnaise, and I had it on some rice crackers. I'm hoping that sits okay with me, that's the first real fat and protein I've had since coming off of EEN. I hope your salad doesn't cause you any pain or symptoms!

Cat, I vote for rice chips. [emoji4]

Another hot day...finished my gym today and then arriving home found the workmen on their swing lifts outside my windows.....I am up about 50ft at least from the ground.
We have to keep all windows closed till they finish...so I am an overheated not very happy
camper.......in temperatures of33C++----
I need more cold pictures....till then I will sit in front of the frig with the door open

Hi Ron and everybody! How's everyone doing?

I'm planning to venture out to an actual grocery store today. Going to pick up some more low-FODMAP foods. I also finished the blanket that I was crocheting! I bought the yarn on Sunday and finished the blanket today, that's definitely a new record for me. I have enough yarn to make another blanket. too, so I might get started on that today. I still have to finish sewing a baby quilt, too. Everybody in my family is going to be warm at xmas! :) And less shopping for me to do in a couple months. Now that's winning!
