Kirsty that little dog is adorable,I could weep with envy. Can I ask why the name ? If it's private,no worries.
Still feel rubbish today.Mild stomach ache and nausea and fatigue. But Cat,it's only 10-40am and I've done my chores and prepare hubbys lunch.I must go to the shops for fresh bread etc.for the weekend but Les wil drive me.I wish I felt like going for a bike ride, but I don't.It's been almost 4 weeks now.

Sandy, can you arrange a horse riding session for me at Christmas ? I don't ride, so something steady and quiet ?

Jammer is the nickname given to the males in Steve's family. Steve is Jammer #1, his brother is Jammer #2 and our Jammer is #3. It's a play on the surname James.

Thanks Kirsty,I'm always interested in unique names.I love Maori and most ethnic language, can't speak any mind.I note you're up late.Hope you're snuggled down now though.

Carol, I love language as well, I like Japanese (but reading it is next to impossible) and I looove Korean (and I can read it because it's got an alphabet!). I know a small bit of Korean - I can say hello, goodbye, thank you, sorry, etc and I can also say a few weird things like, "Have you gone crazy?" (Noh michyeosseo?) And I can read and write in Hangul (written Korean) which is just fun. I'll never be able to read or write Japanese (Kanji is just stupidly difficult), but it didn't take long at all to learn to read & write Hangul.

안녕 하세요 (Annyeong Haseyo) - this is how you write/say Hello in Korean! :)

My Packers won last night! Okay, yes, they beat the worst team in the league, ha ha, so it wasn't that much of a challenge, but I'm still happy that we won.

A Kurdish friend,Sultan, said both our names mean King. My middle name is from my father's brother who died at age three. Kinda creepy...err,I mean...what an honor.

:medal1::rof:Cat,for goodness sake woman !!! Talk about talented. Is there no end to it ???

I refuse to feel shamed though, because I was doin' OK 'til you popped up.:ybatty :lol2::lol2::lol2:

What I find interesting is that the word 'awa' in Japanese means waterfall, and 'awa' in Maori means river. Half my degree is in Maori subjects. I enjoy languages too.

Aura, I like finding things like that across languages, although it doesn't happen often. I was recently listening to a song in Japanese called "Michi". I know michi means "crazy" in Korean so I kept thinking the singer was talking about being crazy, ha ha. Turns out michi means "road" in Japanese! Oops. :p

Carol, if it makes you feel better, I will teach you a couple fun swear words in Korean. :D Next time someone female is rude to you, call them "michinyeon" (pronounced mitch-in-yun). It means "crazy b****!" Or if it's a guy, you can call them saekkiboda (say-kee-boh-da) which apparently literally translates to something along the lines of "rascal", but is a pretty harsh swear. Yay, swears! :)

I have a brother that can speak Korean, and bro-in-law who speaks fluent Japanese (he is a manager/translator for a subsidiary of Honda). My oldest brother spoke Tagalog (Philippines) but I think he has forgotten most of it. His oldest son, however, married a Filipino and speaks fluent Tagalog. Several of my nieces and nephews speak Spanish, and some of their families are bilingual. Me? I speak "pig Latin" and "doubletalk." :rof: :rof: :rof: i would lille to learn Danish some day and go visit and spend time in my grandparents home land. (Doug's ancestry too.)
I've been trying to get photos to show you of Canyonlands, etc. where our party will be, but first I slept excess extra late after having heart palpitations all night (and just found out my neighbor got a call at 4am and is having heart transplant surgery as we speak:eek2:), then had technical difficulties with my phone, had to bring it to cell phone shop (just operator error), and now having a hard time narrowing the "important" photos to under 30 from the original couple hundred I took a couple of years ago. There is just so much to do and see there!
And yes Carol, your horse will be available per request (I want the same kind.)

Although I never use bad language, except in my head of course,if I need to cuss I would most certainly do it in English.I mean what's the point if they don't know they're being sworn at.

Hi... iv just got home to a letter from the hospital, iv got my scan on the 1st of Nov... cant believe its so quick....😃

I also hope the best for you, Mandy. It looks like it's been a slow day around here. We were busy with foster kiddo and watching our Utes win again, what cha all been up to? I've got some pics to show you finally, but it'll take a little time to post each set of two/three (I just can't narrow it down enough). Just think, on our little party trip, we won't have to think about doctors, hospitals or bathrooms. Happy day! I took all of the pics except the last set two years ago April.
The first set is just a scenery sunset and a distant arch in the rock. Be prepared for immense spaces and immense quiet when nobody else is around.
Collage%202016-10-21%2016_30_00-1_zpsqmrg8tyx.jpg

The next set is a sampling of ancient American Indian petroglyphs, and an ancient grainery built under some rock ledges by American Indians 100s of years ago. I know we have some history buffs in our group.
Collage%202016-10-22%2019_26_57-1_zpstps8z3sy.jpg

These pics are one of my favorite places and don't come close to doing it justice, it is Mesa Arch, a short hike off the road, and you don't see the arch until last second then it takes your breath away with the several hundred foot drop on the other side and it's magnificent vistas.
Collage%202016-10-21%2016_59_15-1_zps1zla5epc.jpg

This last set is obviously not my work, I'm not that good of a photographer nor do I have any camera but my cell phone. The night skies are unimaginable around the Utah desert (Delicate Arch in the top shot), and many of the best arches and views entail short hikes up slot canyons, where you can't explain their isolation (but in a good way) and mystery until you've experienced one. I decided that if we explore the Colorado River in one of its calmer areas, a night dinner boat cruise might be fun too.
Thanks for coming on this mini tour.

WOW!!!so stunning...thank you Sandy. It was like a mini break holiday looking at the photos..i needed some beauty for my eyes to behold. 👀💕

Hi Diane, welcome to the Loony Bin......I wouldn't worry about the prize,it's probably crap. There's a lot of it on here. Some of it verbal hahaha. Sorry your win was so short, but I'm not nice enough to let anyone keep it for long......nice try though.

Mandy, feeling much better.Have been inactive more or less for over 4 weeks so it will take me a while to get fit (ish) again.Must get back on little blackie (bike) this week.Les has serviced it,so I'm raring to go,but only on the flat for now.

Carol, glad to hear you're improving finally! I'm jealous of your bike ride - my belly isn't going to allow me to try getting on my bike just yet (I tried doing the stationary bike recently and my belly got unhappy with me very quickly). I miss bicycling! Hopefully I can get out on my road bike at least once before winter. I take it your bike is black, hence the name? My bike is a Japanese brand, it's a Takara Kabuto. I googled and apparently Takara means treasure and Kabuto is a kind of ancient samurai helmet, so my bike's name is Treasure Helmet. :p She's such a pretty bike, though, neon green with bright blue wheels! I love it! My hubby thinks it's ugly but I love it and get compliments on my bike all the time, everything about that bike just makes me happy.

This is a stock image from the internet, but this is the road bike I have. See, isn't it pretty? :)

Sandy, gorgeous photos! I want to go for real, ha ha. Is it safe to take dogs hiking there? Like, are there a lot of snakes & scorpions, or are they few & far between?

Speaking of dogs and hiking, I took my dog for a hike today. Phew, I'm exhausted now! We went to a state park where you can basically walk up some steep bluffs, and look down on a beautiful lake 500 feet below (yes, you have to walk up all 500 feet first!). It was gorgeous but I'm exhausted. My dog is apparently awesome at hiking, though. I had never taken her anywhere like this before, she's a corgi so of course very short and stumpy legs and not the most graceful beast on the planet. :p But, she was the one dragging me uphill, she was climbing on every rock and exploring everything and she just wanted to go, go, go (meanwhile I was huffing and puffing and taking lots of rest breaks!). We're both exhausted now, she's been napping ever since we got home, but I was so impressed with how good she did today. Her little legs weren't an impediment at all, she climbed up and over everything in her path! Good job Lily!

Here's Lily up on the bluffs. You can see how far below us the lake is - we hiked up all that way!

Do I win? ...

Woo hoo! We trapped another victim in the looney bin! So glad you made it Diane.

And glad you like history too! The petroglyphs are some of the better known in the west (partially because they are right off the road and easily accessible) at what is now known as "Newspaper Rock." There are many, many petroglyphs in the west or southwest US if you know where to look for them though. They fascinate me, along with any ancient ruins, artifacts, etc. Before Doug, while camping in the general area, my family even found arrowheads from the ancestral people, though it is illegal to take them home.
Also, Carol, tsk, tsk, you know that we already have the prize, and it is not a little worthless prize, but I can't tell you what it is until I win for the last time. We're sharing it with Jessi that used to participate on the forum, a fellow IBDer from Utah. Ask her if you have any doubts:ylol::ylol::ylol:.

Eek, it did it again. I refreshed the page and some posts didn't appear until I posted. That is absolutely beautiful Cat! My kind of place! We'll have to have dessert in Wisconsin aft the party.
Stunning!

Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed on the trails in Canyonlands or Arches National Park (it's even illegal for humans to go off the trails in most places because of a "living" soil called cryptobiotic soil or cryptobiotic crust should you care to google it. There are some areas where it is allowed to mountain bike on the slick rock, however, people come from all around the world to do that. Happy day! (I'll have to get my bike road worthy.)

And seriously, if any of you ever make it to Utah, we would be happy to show you around given enough notice to take work off, etc. (And I want to go back to Wisconsin, but with Doug this time!) And England, and Boston, and Denmark, etc., etc.

Sorry I'm a forum hog these days, but Trysha, you are going to be totally healed by Christmas and able to go on the hikes. :)

Thanks Sandy! My husband makes really yummy cheesecake so I'll be sure to have him make some for dessert (he can make a gluten-free crust but he can't make cheesecake dairy-free, sorry!).

The park we were hiking in is called Devil's Lake, in case you're interested. It's a very popular place here - many hikers, kayakers, swimmers, etc. I don't think there are petroglyphs, but there are Native American burial mounds, so there's definitely a lot of history too for the history buffs. Here's the link to the park's website if you're interested:
http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/name/devilslake/

And I would love to visit Utah again - I was there back in 2007 I think (before I got sick) with my mom. It's a gorgeous area of the US, so different than what I'm used to here in WI! Sadly I currently don't have any time off work left - I used most of it on Japan and the rest of it on flares/bad belly days (fortunately I was able to get short-term disability leave for this recent flare). And money is tight right now too, I am trying to pay off some debt and also save for a new(er) car. But, someday, I hopefully will have the time off and the good health and the money to travel! The stars will someday align just right, ha ha. :p

Some day we'll just all have to get together that really can. Might be awhile for us because of funds, etc. too, but it sure would be great. But the Utah offer stands.

Lovely pic Cat.. lily looks as if she was loving it..im going to check the link u posted shortly. Cant wait to have a look, it looks beautiful.💕

Sandy you know il b in Utah at earliest oppotunity n if i come in to money unexpectedly even sooner☺💕

Carol il bet blackie has missed you girl..enjoy the ride hun but dont over do it and wear yourself out

Love hugs n best wishes to all 💖💝💞 :ghug:

Cat i couldnt find pics on the link but i checked it out on the internet...wow what a beautiful area your so lucky to be nearby.
We have some beautiful places over here tho i seem to find other countries more impressive maybe its the adventure of it as well when its a different place than home.. ☺
Ps love the bike 💕

Sandy I was going to mention to Diane that the Utes think they have the prize, but that's just it,they only THINK they do.......Love all your pics everyone.I don't do stuff like that at all.I take pics on my phone sometimes, then delete them after a week or two.I remember my dear old ma-in-law saying many years ago,"people are not really interested in other folks holiday snaps" (I used to take loads) How wrong she was !!!

Carol, I took hundreds of photos when I was in Japan! I think I overwhelmed my facebook friends, ha ha. I uploaded something like 900 photos over the course of a 3 week trip (and that wasn't even all my photos, just the best ones!). :p I definitely take lots of photos of everything.

Mandy, I like your comment about "if I come into money". Maybe we should all just buy some lottery tickets, and if any of us wins, that person pays to bring everybody to one location to have a meet-up. ;)

If i won on the lotto ticket i would be more than happy to pay for us all to get together. It would be a dream come true ☺

Eeee,we'd have some fun eh.? or maybe it would turn into a pity party.Or we would talk about BMs during the cheesecake Cat's old man is going to make.Talk like that wouldn't put me off the cake though.hahaha

No BM talk doesnt put me off owt Carol... im sure whatever the talk is about it would be an absolute blast with more fun n laughter than pity going on....
All us crazy crohnies in one place!! All i ask is "is the place we attend our party really ready for us" . Mmm i think not even if we do warn them haha😆😆

Ron, it's a CHEESEcake, I don't think it's possible to make it dairy-free, or it wouldn't be a cheesecake! :p Sorry!

Carol, I'm also not put off by poo talk! Also, I propose that we have our party in Kohler, Wisconsin. It's a couple hours away from my city. It's the birthplace of Kohler brand toilets, I've been there and they even have a toilet museum! :p I think that might be one of the few places on earth that we could have an IBD gathering that there would be enough toilets for all of us! Ha ha.

I mean, the initial party is still at Sandy's, but the dessert after-party should be here in WI. Sandy, I hope you have enough toilets there for all of us!

if Sandy not got enough loos then perhaps a bring-a-bog party, and the gluten and dairy free food for Ron and myself. If I can't win on here then I shall have to win the lottery. Utah looks great.

Il bring my baby porta potty . It folds up neatly to fit in to my backpack. So i can go anywhere n have facilities in my bag 😆

The hubby and I have been talking for awhile now about buying an old camper and fixing it up - that way, we could bring a bed and a toilet with and go on road trips. So if we get a camper, then I'll also have my own toilet along with me. :)

Yeah Cat...camper sounds a brill idea. Hope u can get one hun. You will be like me only with a bed ...mmmm must see if i get one of them that fits in my backpack 😆

I know where you can find an old Tent Trailer! We bought it in 1998 and have worn it out, and then some. The only problem.... it was bought in my pre-crohn's diagnosis days. It does not have a bathroom. Always depended on the campsite to provide facilities. It also does not have a working refrigerator. We found out it would cost about $3,000.00 to replace the refrigerator. So we have just used a cooler for our food.

Doug, thank you for the offer but I'm going to have to pass, as I really do want (need) a bathroom in the camper! A bathroom and a bed, those are my only real requirements, nothing fancy (although you guys know me, I will be sewing quilts and blankets and curtains etc for the camper, ha ha). We're also looking at getting a hard-sided camper, rather than a tent/pop-up style. It can get cold here at night, even in the summer, and a tent style just sounds cold to me!

Cat, we will most likely buy a new camper / trailer in the next year. We want one that is hardsided, and I will be insisting on a bathroom, if for no other reason, I don't like making the trip to the outhouse in the middle of the night. And sometimes it is multiple trips.

It can get cold in our mountains during the summer as well. Especially at night.

Agreed Doug, even if my guts are quiet, I still end up having to pee at least once in the middle of the night, so a bathroom is a must! Outhouse, just no. :p I'm sure a bathroom in a camper probably isn't the most wonderful bathroom ever, but it's got to be far and away better than an outhouse!

My physical therapist is sending me to a spinal specialist to see what is going on with the neuropathic pain.

I can't remember Ron, have you had a spinal MRI? Also, Cat, you would have loved (NOT!) the camping trip to just outside of Canyonlands during Thanksgiving several years ago (sister's annual tradition), in our tent trailer when we woke up to a foot of snow and continual snow fall. To top things off, we were on BLM land with outhouses, and the outhouses had no roof! (I've never seen that anywhere else!) Nothing like cleaning the snow off the toilet seats each time you needed to use the facilities.

Our last camping trip (the family reunion from hell) the facilities were about as far away as you could get in an established campground, and I made double the trips in the night to what Doug did. Yes, the next trailer will have a bathroom. I also want a strong air filter.:yfaint:

Trysha,I think todays your op ?

Just letting you know I'm thinking about you and I hope it does what you want it to....You can do it !!!! :ghug:

Trysha best of luck and a speedy recovery hun. Hoping all goes smoothly n your back on your feet real soon. Big hugs n lots of love 💚💛💜💕💖💙💞💝

Shanen, thanks for the link! I'll check it out when I get home from work tonight (youtube is blocked from here).

Speaking of work, I need to vent. OMG so much bureaucratic BS today! I was told that I'm no longer allowed to do part of my job because I'm not a manager. Apparently somebody changed the rules about this task 6 months ago, didn't bother to tell me, and just decided now to enforce that random new rule. What?! I mean, there's plenty of other work to do, but this is just so stupid and seems really arbitrary. (For the record, I've done this particular task for years without any issue whatsoever.) It's just so much unnecessary stress to yank the rug out from under me like this - the task still needs to be done, so now we're scrambling to figure out what to do and who is going to do it. Ugh, stress!

But I'm trying to turn it into something positive. Hubby's mother already wanted to know what I want for xmas. So, I told her I want a punching bag and some boxing gloves. :p I'm gonna punch the stress away!

Thanks Aura! It might be awhile until I can get over to the other side of the world to pick it up! ;)

Good idea

I have a camper van with a loo. ~bit of a godsend. buses won't let you off unless they are at an official stop which is a nuisance if its rural and a longer journey. Not many loos en route to hospital appointments. Doesn't have a bathro9om but I can't get caught short really, so long as I can find a layby to pull over in. All Crohnies should have one.

Hoping Trysha has a good surgical outcome and recovery.

Trysha,I think todays your op ?

Just letting you know I'm thinking about you and I hope it does what you want it to....You can do it !!!! :ghug:

Hello Carol and all my lovely thoughtful friends on the forum..hope you are feeling better Carol
You are correct,my surgery was this morning at 930am and I was kept in recovery till 330 pm.
I am now in a private room actually isolation because they gave me MRSA last September..it has a lovely view of the Niagara Escarpmet..very tranquil.
For the past year. Have been taking a mixed lactobacillus culture capsule,
10 billion mixed lactobacill and my preop cultures were negative for it.Hooray.
The post op pain is less than what I have been enduring for the last year
so it's not nearly as bad as I thought.
I have the dual self administered pain pump...use every 10 mins as required.
They will back up with a large bolus if necessary....but so far so good.
I was very depressed and uncertain over the past two weeks even today I still wanted to dodge the surgery but could not...now I am so glad it's over and on the mend.
I just had a supper of peanut butter on toast and a fruit cup.there is also a cup of an apology for tea....sure you all know typical hospital food menus.
Thank you all so much for caring and expressing that concern...you really are.my
Family
Looking forward to the Christmas get together
Hope you are progressing well and feeling better Kirsty...love Jammer and the pics.
Sandy your pictures are out there f this world...you are so clever to post them
Now I must sleep
Winning...

Healing thoughts sent your way Trysha. Glad things are progressing well and hope they continue to.

hi every one hope everyone is doing ok, a quick question , has anyone any alternatives to fresubin (protein drink ) they are trying to get my weight up and I just cant drink the fresubin , I have tried and it just makes me nauseous .
Hi Tony
I have found Glucerna strawberry flavour only which I can get along with and also Slimquick strawberry flavour only which I buy as a powder and make it up myself. Not sure if it's available in your area under those names.
Like you I don't get along with all those others.
Feel better soon
Trysha

Well, I ha ve been officially informed that my insurance will not cover the cost of my prometheus test. Prometheus Lab is filing an appeal. They are also getting the process started where I can apply to get financial help from their plan. I should end up paying at the most $250.00 for the test. All to check my Humira levels.

So nice to see you already Trysha! I pray everything continues to go smoothly. I know you have worried, which is understandable considering your past experiences. The odds are in your favor now though! Still, healing thoughts and prayers coming your way.
Shanen, I think we found our next trailer! Seriously, that floor plan and features would fit us perfectly!
Today was an interesting day, I had what I thought would be a no new information doc appt just to fill out DMV papers to keep my driver's license and check a mole and get flu shots. Long story short, he looked over recent med records and gave a possible/probable explanation for recent infection/non infection bladder problems - interstitial cystitis. Looking it up at home, it seems to fit too well. My mole that had all the symptoms of cancer, changing color, growing uneven shape, etc. turned out to be nothing (he told me the name, I can't remember), but very glad I don't need to worry.

I'm happy about the mole aspect, but not about the interstitial cystitis. When I just posted my post above, it gave a link regarding IC, and says those with it are 33 times more likely to have an IBD, and I have suspected IBD myself for awhile. I'm also not happy the nephrologist didn't mention this possible diagnoses, he had to have known more than my GP who popped out that term immediately when I told him the med the nephrologist put me on (uribel, it does help some but not entirely). I also found out the ER had contacted my doc about possible "excessive" use of ER when I had my two week long migraneous stretch. It was the first time in over a year I had gone to the ER purely for migraine. My doc assured me that I was not overusing the ER at all for anything. It seems I can't get rid of ill-deserved reputation for being "frequent flyer" from when I had seizures couldn't get under control, then blood clots they wouldn't even test me for even though I was in major distress (sent me home tachycardic and low oxygen) (my family GP did that diagnoses next day), stroke like symptoms other times, etc. That doesn't even count the stroke I had many years ago that was misdiagnosed as migraine (tho other hospital) then doctors refused to test with continual neurological problems aft, until finally new GP offered todo MRI which found brain damage a few years after the fact, then misdiagnosed for years as MS. It seems they don't believe a person can have all the problems and missed diagnoses I have had. And I have NEVER asked for narcotics at the ER, I have always just gone with their recommendations. It seems one doctor that didn't like me from years ago continues to mess up my med records for life. (I know which doctor did that.) Grrrrrrrrr!

Sweet, my docs have been in touch, I'm having a colonoscopy on Tuesday. I pick the prep up on Friday. I may also need a pill cam, but we will wait and see. Life is never dull. Little Jammer James aka Jam jams is a ball of pure energy. So funny when he runs from point A to point B and back again, multiple times. He's fast too. Pure delight.

Trysha glad to hear from you, and happy your op went well and you have a nice view.
Sandy, thinking of you with IC big hugs. Xxx

Big hugs to you all.

Aura, in the corgi community we call that frapping - frap stands for "frantic running and playing". :) My dog mainly fraps in the snow, it's her favorite thing. When we get fresh snowfall, she runs all around in it until the whole yard is full of dog footprints. The neighbors' yards will all still have pristine snow while mine looks like it's been trampled by a herd of corgis. :p

Sandy, I've heard of IC. I have some undiagnosed bladder issues too but I don't think I have IC - I've read that cranberry supplements tend to make IC (or at least the symptoms of IC) worse rather than better, and cranberry supplements do tend to help me, so presumably this means I don't have IC. I don't know for sure though.

I'm having a grumpy day today. Still dealing with nonsense BS at work. My guts aren't happy from the stress. I injured my foot yesterday in the gym - was doing lunges and I felt something "pop" in my foot, I don't think I broke anything but I definitely pulled or tore something and it still hurts, ugh. This morning, to top it all off, I spilled my chocolate smoothie all over myself - got chocolate on my sweater and my watch, and I didn't even realize it until later but I also have chocolate smoothie splattered on my pants. Cute. It's seriously just not my day (and 2016 is not my year). It's pouring rain which at least feels appropriate because the weather matches my mood. I just want to go hibernate for awhile. Bleh.
